Do you know what the purpose of the valve on the bottom of plastic housing? I replaced the filter and housing and its leaking from the hole on the bottom

If it's what I think it is. I would say it maybe the drain plug. If so, I would think it has an O-ring. Some may drain it before disassemble .

That's a very good question that I wish I could answer at the moment.

How do you bleed out the bad def

You need to wash the DEF Tank out with Water or Distilled Water. In some case you may have to pull the Tank off the vehicle to clean. Once Tank has been washed. Refill Tank with new DEF. Next Regen vehicle.
