  • Ever heard of wet strength tissue paper? No? - me neither until recently.
    Welcome to my first ever proper UA-cam video where I share how I use wet strength tissue in my mixedmedia art. I also share some gelli printing for those of you that like to see that process. I have tried to make this a visual treat and not longer than it would take to drink a cup of tea. So as they say here in Britain, pour yourself a cuppa and join me.
    00:00 Intro
    00:45 What is wet strength tissue paper?
    01:22 Using wet strength tissue paper in my art

    Hi, I'm Jane and I've created this channel to share my process for no other reason than, just because! I hope you enjoy my musings and hope you'll subscribe to see more of my creative pursuits.

    This is a really great tutorial for people who have played around with the geli print process, but have not had a lot of success-like me! I was getting very frustrated with all these videos I was watching, because they did not explain that you had to wait between layers. Lovely process. Thank you for sharing. One thing that would help is a list of materials used. I have chemo brain and sometimes I miss the images...can't process that quickly. One thing on my wish list is definitely black gesso. Can I add black paint to white gesso?

    • @janewestonart
      @janewestonart  2 роки тому

      Hi Chris, that's a great suggestion! Black gesso is very much like a matte black paint. If you were to mix black paint with white gesso you would get a matte grey. I'm sure black paint on tissue paper would have the same effect as black gesso. I hope that makes sense. 😊

      Ouch that's expensive!! I don't blame you for passing on that offer. Here in the UK it's readily available, though deli paper isn't so I guess it depends on what you can get your hands on. I had a look and I do believe wet strength is acid free - whether it is archival I couldn't be certain as acid free and archival are 2 different things. I'm sure if you contacted the company that makes the tissue paper they could give you more specifics. I like using it as it isn't as waxy as deli paper and holds the paint better - but it is all personal choice and finding what works for you.
