- The actual #the100daychallange is long over, but I'm still trotting along in fits and starts with my 100 Days of Simple Collage AND YET, I'm still showing up! This video shows me make collages 61-67 as I continue on to a total of 100 of these little collages.
Note - This is Video 5 of my Simple Collage 100 Day Project Series. To start from the beginning, click here to watch the first video: • 100 Day Project: Not-S...
Background: After a several year break, I'm doing the 100 Day Project again (the100dayproject.org) and excited to have a project idea that will challenge me (to keep showing up for 100 days straight) and keep me creating. The goal is to create something that only takes 5-10 minutes a day and I'm all about achievable goals! My plan is to use about 3 collage scraps for each collage and who knows, I might go crazy with it and add some Neocolor crayons or pen lines sometimes. I'm going to go with #100daysofsimplecollage so if you'd like to follow my progress, follow that hashtag and follow me on Instagram ( jackieschomburgart) - between the two of those, hopefully Instagram will show my posts to you every so often...? 🤣🤣🤣
Are you doing the 100 day project too? Let me know what you'll be working on and what your hashtag is so we can all cheer you on!

great job as usual, Jackie. What i find most helpful is your narrative on how you decide on what shapes and colors to use so quickly. i struggle with overthinking even the smallest of details...instead of saying, "this works-i am done. " Your videos help me ponder less and create more. ...although that is still a work in progress.
Loved them all Jackie! ♥♥♥ It is incredibly inspiring to watch you work and listen to your thought process. Be well my friend!
Thanks Paul!! I hope you are well too! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for doing a video about composition Jackie! It can be challenging but it's so important for creating interesting paintings. Love all your interesting and varied collage papers. My own preference is to make my own papers. I only use very small amounts of found items or magazines. Can't wait to see your next video!
I love using papers I’ve made too - it’s so much fun to create with bits of other creations, isn’t it? ❤️
In conjunction with your commentary, your 'auditioning', rejecting and selecting of paper scraps is incredibly helpful and instructive.
So glad you're finding it useful! 🎉📝
Loved watching and listening to your process - thank you for your clear explanations. Great results!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! ❤️❤️❤️
This was really great!!!!! Thank you soooooo much!!!!!
You’re so welcome - I’m glad you found it helpful! ❤️❤️❤️
love the results of your great talent
Thanks! Glad you love it! 🎉🎨
These were such fun Jackie. I often user roll off paper that l rolled my brayers on to. I use them as a ground then collage on top. I use all manner of papers. I really like tissue paper that l have painted with all different marks and colours. Seeing your wee bit of gold paper got me excited, thinking goldleaf, and not throwing out my chocolate paper 😅 Thanks as always for the inspiration......Alioban ❤
Oooooooh, chocolate wrapper! Such a great idea! ❤️❤️❤️
One of the things i enjoy about watching you create collages, is how i can anticipate that you are going to put a piece in a spot, move it , take it away and move on.😂 It’s like a game to me. 😂
Haha! It’s a game to me on my end too 😆 I can only imagine how you anticipate what I’m going to do because I barely know while I’m doing it! 🤣🤣🤣
@@jackieschomburgart I don’t know how I can anticipate where you place something. Maybe because I see with a similar perspective or maybe because I have watched your videos a lot or maybe it is because we are all connected 😂
I really enjoyed watching you. Each piece by themselves were fabulous. Together they made a great statement.
Thanks so much, Bernice! I’m so glad to have you watching! ❤️
Fun! And very useful to hear how you make your choices. I still seem to forget about principles for composition, values, differences etc when I'm in the middle of making art. Thanks for the reminder 🤩
That probably means you’re in your groove - always a good thing! Composition can be edited later - keep having fun! ❤️
I sit and wait to see your next video. You have helped me to be authentic and to have fun with my art. Thank you for sharing!!!
I’m so glad! That means the world to me - thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome video !! I really enjoyed seeing your process at work ❤ ... great tips too !!
Thanks so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Love when you drop a new video!!
Yay! Thanks for watching!! ❤️
This was really helpful, thank you.
So glad it helped! Keep shining! ✨😊
I have continued the 100 day challenge and I only use three collage pieces but hadn't thought about using one very light, one very dark and then one different. I will have to try that tomorrow 🙂
Let me know how you like it! It doesn’t have to be quite that formulaic, just pay attention to the values and if you feel like everything is too dark, at something very light or vice versa 🤗
An inspiring adventure as always Jackie ❤My collaging is generally very subtle relations between elements so it's always a blast to watch your spread of boldnesses. I also love it when you match up adjacent pieces so lines become continuous -- you're the only person I've seen do that though I heard someone the other day refer to it with an 'art term' which is contour continuation -- personally I'd rather just see it happen than know there is a corresponding concept :)
Aha! So there is a term for it. Though the term certain alt isn’t as fun as the feeling I get when it happens 😂😂😂 I think we can find a better word for it even if it’s not technically accurate 😉❤️❤️❤️
Bellisimos saludos desde Argentina ❤
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
A soothing voice, an experienced artist, an encouraging teacher sharing processing are a viewers dream. High appreciating vibes coming your way.
Aww, thanks Chuck! ❤️❤️❤️
Yes, helpful! And inspiring. Thanks, Jackie.
So glad! ❤️
Ohhhh, this is a good one Jackie! I have struggled to find a concise, bullet-pointed way of describing this to my art students. Thank you- I always look forward to your posts on Sundays!
❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Jackie. Lovely work.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
this really helped me; understanding why you chose the pieces gives me a guideline for my choices. thank you!
I’m so glad it was helpful! ❤️❤️❤️
this was so great, so much useful info about composition, and differences. lately i've been making quite a few artist books trying to use up my collage papers. whenever i complete one, i realize i've barely made any noticeable dent in my huge supply of home-made papers (and small scraps)! seems to be the same for you...? :) thanks as always.
Oh yes, my papers seem to refill themselves no matter how much I use 😂😂😂
Question.....I'm very much enjoying watching your videos so thanks! Curious as to what you're using as an adhesive...I've used Gloss medium but its not thin so I use a palette knife to apply it. I like the concept of using a tube as your are....
Hi! I use gloss medium from Nova Color Paints - it’s on the thinner side and I like that it goes on easily and dries quickly 👍
The blue piece at the top at 12:30 - I'm curious why you didn't cut that back rather than cover most of of it up (i.e. to use the bottom part for something else).
I could have cut it and sometimes I do. Other times I’m literally just thinking one piece at a time and I even surprise myself by either forgetting what my plan was or by making huge changes to what I thought I wanted to do and I go a completely different direction 😂
Do you sell these little collages?
I do, with just a few exceptions. $25 each. 🤗 If you’re interested, just let me know which number(s) you’re interested in and we can go from there!
