Also, I love your idea of using 2 gel plates vs having a side sheet for Brayer excess. That’s awesome 🙌🏼
I have one gel plate. Seeing her have two made me think I now need two as well.
I love your technique of using two plates at the same time and taking the extra paint from plate 1 to start another print on plate 2! Genius! Thanks for the inspiration!
This is one of the best beginner tutorials I have seen on using a gel plate. Actually, I'm not a beginner and learned a number of great tips so let me say it is one of the best overall tutorials on the gel plate. :-) I would love a Zoom hangout if the time works. Thanks so much.
YES, PLEASE! I would love to participate in a Gelli party. You’ve inspired me to pull out my plates again, YAY! Thanks so much 💚
You know the, not necessarily right way to gel print, but the way to expand gel printing into beautifully layered artwork. For me it's the right way. More control, less haphazard. I love it to bits!! 💖
Having a zoom session would be awesome, after I clean up my studio a bit. These pulls are amazing by the way. I learned a lot from this video.
Yes I would love to spend some time arting.
WOW!!! Great prints.
I've never heard anyone talk about the things you mentioned about gelli printing. I learned more in this one video, than all the other ones put together!!!
I'm new to your channel, and excited about watching more.
I don't have a gelli plate, and have never done it. But after this video, I feel I can do it.
The gel plate and paints are not in my budget right now. But I've been buying couple paints each month. So it will be soon.
I just can't believe how different your knowledge & processes are than anyone else has explained.
I've done mostly crochet, sewing, and needlework all my life. But I just started doing junk journals 4 few months ago. So now I'm dyeing paper, and using paints. So a WHOLE NEW WORLD has opened up to me.
Its nice to have some good knowledge before you start,..... just so you don't have to figure everything out the long way, by yourself. That can be frustrating.
I didn't even think about building layers and that what goes on gel plate first, ends up on top of paper!!! It should he common sense. But I didn't think of it. Light bulb just went on!!!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH for taking time to explain these basics. I really appreciate your teachings!!!
Thank you for the video. I'm subscribed and got the bell on. So I can follow your channel now.
Plus, you are so fun to watch, and relaxing to listen to.

I keep coming back to this video - I haven't worked up to trying it yet, but I'm getting closer! lol! Hope you're well!
I like gelli printing but would love to learn more
Great idea. Let’s do it.
I enjoy the gel plate process, it looks simple enough, BUT there are some principles and skills that are important to success. I would welcome more videos with the basics explained and demonstrated. I’d like to raise my level from just a lucky combo to understanding how and why. Your work is beautiful!
Awesome, thanks for that! I love hearing what specifically people are looking for. If you have many other ideas for what you're looking for or struggle with, I'm all ears. Hope you can make one of the zooms! I'll be printing. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. 😁😁🎨
I think i've watched this video 3 times now, and I am sure this is my most favorite gelli printing video ever. Thanks.
Awe, thanks Ellie! So glad you enjoyed it. There is so much more to come. I've been taking a much needed break. Excited to get back into filming and creating more content. I'd love to know what you loved about it so much, so that I can create more of that. Thanks for your time, means a lot. 😍😘🎨
@@IngridBlackburn sorry for only reacting now.. busy, summer, garden etc... I'll show you a project I've made with a print I did after watching your video: elliecreahoekje.blogspot.com/2021/04/2021-topic-5-find-your-vibe-with-esn-by.html
I guess it is the playful way of leaving part of stencilled and other paint to dry, starting with a dark color, and actually doing the layering thing in 1 go, not in multiple printing. I LOVE monoprinting, mostly the ghost prints for the same reason: having control in a certain way maybe? I knew about letting layers dry, but your approach added to it...
@@IngridBlackburn forgot to say: take care, one thing at a time!
Loved this tutorial, sounds pretentious on my behalf but its the first "art" tutorial I have seen on gelli plates, its about the energy of the artist, as opposed to just producing lovely prints.
Thank you Liz! That means the world to me. Yes, art is about a feeling, techniques are great, I use them all the time, but they are just the tools to help us breathe our emotions and life into works that connect with those we love, including ourselves. I wholeheartedly believe that. Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave a comment. I just filmed the video that uses that print yesterday, I'm excited to get it up later this month. I like to think she's smiling somewhere thinking about the art, and us. Much love! 😍😘🎨
My grandfather’s last name was Blackburn! More to the point, I’d love a hangout sesh!!! Thank you!
These prints are so beautiful and it’s so special how you were able to use a piece that belonged to your Mom. I’ve only ever done 1 print and even though I really like it, I want a better white. A video about good paints to use would be invaluable to someone who is just starting with plates (like me). TFS!
Such beautiful prints! A free zoom with many creative minds would be awesome! Thank you for offering.
Started! I would love a zoom group. I am just getting started. Just bought my first plate but I have creating paper in other ways. Excited to get started!
A zoom session would be great 👍
Totally, let's hang out and create!!! Loved this video :)
That was just stunning and amazing to me, wish I had a gel plate❤️
love how you told this story and how you connect everything. The prints are just fantastic wow!! great job my friend!!
This is the first time I've watched you, and you've got me hooked! You're amazing. I love EVERYTHING you're saying..."the small moments," "the grunge," "the imperfect layers." And heck yeah, I'd love to do a Zoom with you! I can't wait to watch more of your videos. Thanks for being awesome.
Welcome Alison! So glad you're enjoying it. I love this whole process, and this video is very much me - the real me...I'm excited to share more with you. Thanks for watching and leaving me a comment. 😀😀🎨
Ingrid, I’d love a Gelli Zoom session! I really haven’t been thrilled with the prints I pull and results I get. So do to them in real time with consult from you and others would be a great opportunity and gift. Thank
I’m a blessed and lucky one who still has a job and able to work during the pandemic, so for me would need to be weekends and/or after 6pm Pacific Time (which likely would be way too late for east coast people).
I really hope this works out to where I can join live. Thanks Ingrid!
Love the depth of love for your mom!
Ingrid, YES! to the idea of Zooming, I just got a new gel plate and roller, it’s been awhile since I played, but the last few times I did, my prints didn’t come out that great, but I’m eager to keep going and to continue to learn from you and others, Thank you for wanting to do this and sharing your amazing talent with us.
Same here!
That is so interesting that you leave the paper on the plate to dry for the final pull. I've usually seen other artists apply a super thin layer of paint to pull the final print immediately. Definitely trying your technique - thanks!
Amazing....thank you for your instructions, I love that you get to the project without a lot of extras, yet how you describe the process, your thoughts and why you're doing things in a particular order is wonderful. Your art is awesome!
I've just stumbled upon gelli plates today and have been researching it all morning! I came across your video and you are amazing! I love how you explain the process while working. You have such a talent, a gift, not only with art but in teaching. So thankful to have found you ♥
Stunning!
Hey! I designed the Van Gogh Spirals stencil for Joggles. Sweet, thanks for using it.
Hi Elizabeth!!! I LOVE so many of your stencils. Just got them a few weeks ago. Love the way you think in your designs. Thanks for popping by and taking time to comment!!! I'll definitely be using others!! 😁😁🎨
@@IngridBlackburn thanks for featuring my stencils, I loved watching how you use partial sections of stencils vs. the whole thing! Inspiring.
Elizabeth! I love your stencils! I have several of them from Joggles....can’t wait to try them on my gel plate!
@@cindyhenry1410 awesome! Thank you for the support Cindy.
One of the BEST videos I have seen on gel prints. Thank you for sharing your passion of creating
That's an incredible compliment Angela! Thank you for that. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave me a comment. I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. 😀😀🎨
I agree with you Angela!!!
Love this layering. Beautiful.
I'd love to also know if you'd be interested in chatting about what you're up to in a FREE zoom hangout! I'm curious if there is any interest in chatting about what you're working on, crafting a little, watching me do a little printing....Leave me a comment - I'd love to know!

Depending on the timing, I'd be interested in a free zoom.
I’d love to join you too... your work is wonderful! So inspiring.... I work with a large gelli plate and also print on fabric... more difficult getting intense prints, but oh, so many opportunities!
Yes, this would be great. I am newer to geli print but find it so much fun. Always like learning new techniques so to participate in zoom would be fun. Also enjoy your tutorials too.
I’d love to do the zoom! How do I find out when it’s on. My Gmail is moonbeads1216@gmail.com
@@karenmooney9684 I'll be posting a video about it in the New Year - not 100% sure when, putting it all together over the next few weeks. Stay tuned here!!
Gorgeous!!!
Love love love your art, as well as your storytelling!!!
Ingrid, this is awesome, thank you for sharing.
Those prints are amazing!
A Zoom session sounds awesome,!
Yes! Love the idea of hanging out on zoom!!! Thanks, Ingrid! Peace
I love the way you talk about printing. It's so inspiring & meditative.
Oh, wow! Watching this very early in the morning - and I’ve learned SO much about where I’ve been going wrong with gel prints - thank you so very much! Jen ❤️❤️
This video makes me want to use my gel plates more and try new techniques! Thank you for this video.
I love your integrity and your spirit, I love how you dig into those emotions and elements and expose things that are sometimes buried and silenced and you make them sing and they become beautiful in a whole new way. Thank you for that. I hold you close in my arsenal for healing.
Thank you for that Melanie! Art is so much about feeling for me, I think that's what I love about it so much. So many people focus on the end result, that they forget about the little steps and nuances along the way. I love those little moments. Thanks for watching and leaving me a comment. 😀😀🎨
Gorgeous and fun!
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Beautiful!
Awesome! Thank you for taking the time to share.
I would love a zoom hangout. I would love it more if we could be creating together as we learn some of your techniques!
Of course that means committing to a time that works for everyone so that might not be possible, but one can dream!
Maybe there can be more than one meeting to accommodate everyone!
Just rewatched this my friend. it is utterly brilliant. Just love how the prints came out
Phenomenal prints. They would make fabulous fabrics.
I love watching your creative process ❤️
Beautiful! Thank you 🙏
So sorry to have missed this premiere and chatting "real time" with you! Loved what you did in this video...and using a paper from your mom's things...amazing! Can't wait to see what you create with both of these panels. A zoom craft meeting? Of course!!! Love you my friend!
I would LOVE it if you were there chickie. :) The piece with my mom's paper is unreal. Such a fabulous piece of old paper. Thanks for popping by to watch. 😘😘🎨
Oh my goodness first I have heard of this. I never was into art because I couldn’t draw. You have woke up the artist in me. I would love to start! I’m 70 yrs old. And I’m going to have a new beginnings. Love 💕 your presentation
Beautiful prints and wonderful commentary.
Love them. I made my own gel plates yrs ago. There in my fridge. Time to play again..thank you
I am new to gel plate printing and I really enjoyed this video, my first of yours to watch. I'll be watching more for sure! I find your narrative very soothing and also inspiring as you explain about your process. Thank you.
I'm a newbie to printmaking (but an oldie to life), and this video is the best I've seen yet!
Oh WOW, excellent way to interact with your audience and memory from your mom. So many ideas!!!!
Hi. Your process is very informative and helpful; and your narrative is wonderful!
I’d love to be part of a live zoom. Hope you do it. I find your commentary relaxing and helpful, especially letting go of “perfection”!
So glad to have found you. Love the layers and the prints. Thanks for inspiring.
Love use of stencils and printing with you
Gorgeous creations ❣️🥰🫶
The best! Geli Print Video ever! ❤❤❤
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment. 😍
My gelli print making supplies arrived yesterday. Looking forward to getting started. Made junk journals for several years. Ready for some print making. Thank you for this video!❤
I am just a newbie to gel printing really, I have watched this 3 or 4 times now I find it so inspiring and I am learning so much. Thank you.
I'm so glad June! Keep at it, you need to get reps in. The discovery with each print, including those that don't turn out is how you learn! Have fun layering. 😘
Yes! However, I've only "bought" stuff and have never actually made any prints! It's scary....:)
That's exciting for me Darla. Knowing you're going to come with your collected supplies and we're going to break those in together. Move past that fear and into something amazing, artistic, freeing, and honestly, just do much fun. Together. I can't wait! Thanks for watching! Stay tuned to hear the dates. 😁😘🎨
I was the same way:). I started with cheaper paints and paper. It’s amazing the things you create. Have fun.
Do it! I started by using copy paper and cheap paint. I now have stacks of gelli prints to use it my art. It's fun!
Same here. I've never taken that first step.
@@annettereed6146 Let's see what we can do to change that! Watch next week for info about the free zoom. 😁😘🎨
Yes. I’d love it. I love gel printing. Obsessed.
Love your techniques.
Wow I love your video. I had no idea you could leave your pull off for 5 mins, before pulling. I think that’s where I’ve been going wrong. Thank you. Your commentary was so calming and interesting
Love this video on how to get serendipitous prints. These tips are great. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing and beautiful! I love the stories that you tell as you craft. Thank You!
Those are gorgeous! Especially the one with your mom’s paper. Just amazing! I want to learn how to do that.
Yes! Just pulled my first okay-ish print. So, yes PLEASE!
Thank you for the great video! I have been having difficulty with the paint sticking to the Gelli plate when I pull a print, so I am going to try your technique and wait for a few minutes before removing the paper. I really enjoyed watching your process! Thank you!
So beautiful!❤
Amazing. Thank you. Loved your brilliance. Every blessing 🙏🙏❤️❤️
Love that print.
Wow, these are beautiful. I will definitely try this. Thanks.
Thanks for the inspiration.
I just discovered this type of printing. Your videos are great. Good vibes!
You are so encouraging! I love your narrative! Excited to try this new-to-me form of art!!!
I can tell you really are an artist by the way you talk about your prints. The one you made from your mother's paper was so special to you. My mom is 83 and is a very good artist and I would love to do this for her too!
Thank you Becky, That paper is so fragile, it's so special to me. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment! 😍😀🎨
Life is not perfect….. love the mystery and layers. Your every day practice is lovely. Thank you for the inspiration. Isn’t it fun how many ways we use the gel press?! Love it. Many thanks. ❤❤❤
Loved your appreciation for life that resonates in this video. I too lost my Mother and understand how good it feels to honor their memory though art.
I'm sorry for your loss! I love that life lives on in new pieces. Honoring history and those that came before us, and of course mean the most to us. ❤
Beautiful prints! I don't think I've heard anyone else in all of gel-print land mention to let the paper sit for a few minutes on the last pull so as to capture everything completely - great tip, thank you!
I'd love to do this with you! I like the way you go deeper into the printing process.
What a wonderful video Ingrid! Very informative and love your calmness. 🥰
I am very new to this but most definitely!
I'm just beginning my journey of art with gelli printing! Enjoyed this video! 💖
Lovely work, love the idea of working on two plates at once, using the commonality of color and not having brayer waste ink
Wow, huge help with my gel printing plus you are so zen. Love your commentary. Art therapist! Thank you.
Definitely! Let us get together, especially with gel prints
,I love gel printing, you never know what you will get. You make it look so EASY and beautiful papers.
Great idea to have interactive hang outs! Gorgeous prints and wonderful tips! TFS the inspiration!
Such a masterful gelli artist
Brilliant video! Learned much. A pleasure to watch.
I love that you are back doing videos...☺️💕
