Practically every Tool song is a masterpiece in some way, sometimes in it's genius composition, sometimes in the fact that you don't realize it at first, but they're truly fuckin with your emotions lol
Every Tool song I’ve heard always made me come back to it and listen again, even if I didn’t like it at first. Their tunes are mesmerizing and soul gripping. It’s like a black hole. Once you get caught in the pull, it’s inescapable.
Some back story to the song, it was released on their 10,000 days album which is roughly the amount of days Maynard's mom was in a wheelchair before passing away. She was a devout Christian, though, and there was said to be talk in the church of God punishing her for her sins and those of her son. So the song is obviously about a large hypocrisy especially after her passing when they tried to use her death as PR for the church. "Now you're weeping shades of indigo, got lemon juice up in your eye, when you pissed all over my black kettle". So they're feigning and forcing a show of grief even though they treated his family poorly for many many years. Great album.
That is fascinating and infuriating in a sense. As you'll no doubt be aware 'Judith' from 'A Perfect Circle' (another band Maynard performs in) has similar subject matter as I understand it so your insight above aligns well. More about her (Maynard's mother) and religion as an abstract IMO but it would seem her life and death have had a significant impact in Maynard's life and art, one of many reasons I believe his music resonates with so many...it comes from somewhere real. Cheers for the info

that’s just your opinion, everyone has different music taste.
Tool's pretty accessible, enjoying it is not some feat.
Came here to say this! Listening and enjoying are one thing..... enjoying and understanding are the level up!! They are still killing shit! Don’t toss your stones around;)
Coming from Gangsta Rap, hip hop etc..... i unknowingly fell down the rabbit hole..... i like it down here thanks! 😁
"They about to take us somewhere"
Yeah that's Tool. Love it.
Every song Tool has is good sir! Would love to see you react to more of Tool, great reaction by the way loved how you enjoyed your first Tool experience
Maynard is a poetic genius brotha, the man is a legend in itself.
Tool will take you on a journey unlike no other, glad you enjoyed!
Oh my I'm so glad I'm this early for this. Been waiting on LayedBak to go down the Tool rabbit hole for a long time.
I’m definitely appreciating 2021 it’s been a hard year due to many seizures but I’m still here and that’s what matters most
Right.
Glad to know you're still here and with the right attitude.
Peace and light to you from Florida.
You tried CBD for your seizures it helped my friends kid from double digits a day to single digits a week. Consult a Dr first and you want CBD the non Psychoactive Cannabinoid and possibly CBG. CBD has worked for Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and also in 84% of youth with untreatable seizures it led to reduced amounts. CBD is non psychoactive donor will not get you high. THC will and has also been shown to decrease seizures however after 8 days you build up a tolerance and its effect diminish and it can also cause you to a seizure Due to the psycho active effects. It's worth a shot man what country are you in?
The worst day in life beats the best day in death in my opinion. Rock on and good luck to you.
@@bertmacklinfbi915 would the worst day of your life be the day you die if that's the case? Also that so not true or Euthanasia wouldn't exist, suicide wouldn't exist, addiction wouldn't exist. Life sucks sometimes and it's alright to feel down just know most of the time it'll get better but even if it doesn't perhaps by changing your attitude you can change your situation. When horrible things happen to me inna regular basis now I just laugh and ask if that's all the universe has. It's gonna take a cataclysm that takes us all out if you wanna take me out. Never give up that's the important thing I just keep on keeping on myself not sure why info it the universe has tried to kill me but I won't let it win one day perhaps but there's still so much for me to do and so little time. laughter is the best medicine it may not cure you but it'll get you through
keep going strong
If you’re going to intro someone into rock, (that’s not into rock) and blow they mind, TOOL is DEFINITELY the band to do it with!! I can’t even put into words how absolutely special TOOL is!!
They call Danny Carey the "Octopus" because he can play the drums like no other drummer can, Tool is always a pass... You gotta hear their song "The Grudge" 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
The Grudge. Ticks & Leeches. Rosetta Stoned. 7empest. FORTY SIX AND 2!!!!!
@@garrettplunkett2215 I'm about to go give all those a listen
@@LuckyPon3 Enjoy. They are amongst the best.
Danny long legs
@@garrettplunkett2215 Don't forget Schism, Sober, Vicarious, Jambi !!!
I think he'd really enjoy looking into Tool deeper. Namely the lyrics of their more popular songs. I'd love to see what he pulls from them.
My husband and I and his sister and a lot of our friends have been to multiple Tool concerts. If you ever have the chance to see them live, do it. It's totally worth it. Over 30 years' worth of fantastic music.
YESSSS! Please do more Tool, if I had the money I'd vote for more in a heartbeat. You will probably never hear a single bad song by these guys.
I'm pretty sure u gonna love "Pneuma"
He wont know whats going on, he deffo will love it
Descending though 😏🤣
Tool’s music conveys motion, drawing you forward on a journey. The lyrics are very personal and therefore have a depth that a lot of other bands don’t have.
Literally my favorite videos on UA-cam are people reacting to tool for the first time
One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. Their music and vibe is amazing!
“I’m on the ride, I’m on the journey, there’s a couple seats in the back, let’s go.” I love that 😂
I cant be the only one who says the intro with him
Nope, you’re the only person.
40 plus year rock drummer here and i have to say i just love Tool, such a unique style and sound and these guys take it to a A Whole Nother Level ! Welcome to the world of Tool and Great reaction .
Every tool song is an experience. Their discography is a rabbit hole you won't regret if you choose to go down it.
I see, you summoned the Tool army
Join in my child 🤲
Love the Hicks picture.
"That bass!"
My thoughts EXACTLY when I first heard this. Glad you appreciate it too. 🤘
This track is about as close to perfection as I can imagine
Please do SOBER LIVE VERSION. ! His vocals fry your brain cells to the point your body melts ! A lot of singing teachers will tell you it’s impossible to sing the way that Maynard does in a crouch position ! The music live is so much better than the recordings I’ve been to so many of there shows I’ve lost count bro ! Please do that song or stink fist or any song off there first 3’ albums live you think this was mind blowing you have no idea what this band is capable of !
Maynard is a lyrical Genius, the equations he puts in his songs are so deep
Maaaan, Tool is the one the best band that i have heard in this last years, i know them recently and i headover hills.
Gotta do the Danny Carey drum cam now, it’s only natural
big facts. please dont watch it until youre recording
you have to do more TOOL. Such a great journey, one that I'd love to see you experience as much of us have.
Never had a problem bobbing my head to a Tool song. Who else is with me.
I loved the face when the instrumental run faded out. It was totally like: "what the damn hell!? That's not it, is it...?"
The face you made throughout the majority of this video is exactly the face I make during the majority of tool songs
You’re definitely better at head banging than half the Metal heads I know 🤘🏾
