I love my NYXI joycons! Totally worth it if anyone is interested in a much more comfortable portable experience 👍
A bit more style than substance this one. But onto my wislist it goes since i like the visuals.
If this was colored, I would really like to get it 😅
I find it funny how your own interest for classic movies comes out in these reviews!
Which reminds me, Bud Spencer & Terence Hill: Slaps and Beans is on sale too. Might not be a great series of films (although definitive classics, at least where I'm from), but since you're a beat em up fan too that might be a good game for you!
If they clean up the game play by the time a physical comes out then I’d be more keen to purchase.
I hope we get a samurai open-world adventure game on the switch as well, like ghost of tsushima. Maybe for the future switch hardware.
That would be very cool! Mark
A ghost of tsushima port would be amazing, not sure the good ol' switch would manage that level of detail though
@@DjizeusCrayst i don't really care if they tone down the graphics, as long as it's playable. the graphics on assassin's creed rebel collection isn't great, but i still enjoyed playing it (and it's also my first time playing assassin's creed games). star wars skywalker saga's graphics weren't great on launch, but i still enjoyed playing it. sometimes people just need to forget about realistic graphics and just enjoy the game's story and experience, just like how we did growing up playing retro games. we didn't complain about graphics and still enjoyed playing them. we got too obsessed and spoiled with graphics to the point where we don't appreciate the little things that makes a game anymore.
@@odysseus2k1 on most games, I would agree. Like, the Assasins Creed games aren't really popular for graphics anyways, so it's not as important. However in Ghost of Tsushima, graphics are an integral part of the experience, so it would be disappointing to play a flat version of that game. It's a bit like frame rate, I mostly don't care about that aspect, but for some games (like competitive shooters) it's kind of important.

So excited for this release! Thanks again for a quality review.
You mentioned that there is not a lot of puzzles. I’m glad. For that reason I may pick it up.
Being a huge Kurosawa fan i was really hoping you guys would cover this one. I think i will pick this one up if/when it goes on sale at some point. If the gameplay and controls had a higher score i would have been happy to pay full price. A well done review as always.
Currently I see it with 20% discount (europe). So insta buy for me.
@@starojda yeah it seems there's a new trend (or one I hadn't observed at least) to have some of these new releases going for 20% off lately. Let's hope it continues!
huge kurosawa fan as well here. Grew up with movies such as Sekiro, Ran & Kagemusha.I also bought the retail collectors edition of this game and it`s really unique love it a lot
A bit of performance issue here and there but the visuals man. That black and white artstyle feels like watching an old school film. 😋
Considering the game had some issues on even the current gen platforms. I'd consider that a win for the switch
@@TonyJenn oh wow. Even current gen platforms have issues?
@@TonyJenn The fact that it looks so good on Switch is amazing in its own way!
It currently has a 20% discount on the Australian eShop - certainly a more approachable price point
It's crazy and very nice how Nintendo has been getting all of these 3rd party games. As a Nintendo exclusive collector I can finally catch up on some of the games I've been missing out on from other consoles
Same here! Waiting for potential ports requires a lot of optimism and patience though, I've found!😅 Like, I've had this one for PS5 in my shopping cart a few times already...now I'm glad I decided to wait after all xD
@Anni Ka I just look at channels like this to give me information on stuff. It's hard for me to keep track of it all. Even sticking to 1 video game company, there's still an infinite vault of games to play and discover.
@@Anni_ka "good things comes to those who waits".
Dunno which ancient bloke said that in the past. But he's quite right. Not all the time of course. 😅
The game looks amazing, the artstyle is unique. The gameplay loop looks fun. Definitely going to my wishlist. 🤩
"Almost Sensei-sational" haha great way to describe it. Great video. I may wait a bit on this one.
Heh heh. That got a chuckle out of me. 😂
This actually looks like something that would be a great game to play with the headphones on. Wishlist :D
Into the wishlist this one goes for me too.
@@Ser-Smiley it never stops growing
Considering the limited amount of quality samurai games on the Switch, this game looks good enough to buy for me. Maybe I’ll wait to see if it goes on sale
I like the looks this one has, i had no idea it was available for other platforms, nice review guys
I finished this game on xbox game pass, but I am going to buy it on switch cause I really love this game! And want this on the move!
What I love about Switch Up reviews is that it not only gives us the best reviews, but it shows us what games we will love, and not love.
Unfortunately, this game reminds me of a ‘point & click’ e.g Siberia, where it doesn’t give me the freedom to play. Going from side to side through different points of the game, just doesn’t do it for me. Not my kind of game. But great review!! May have purchased if I didn’t see this top notch review!! Thanks Glen ✌️
was waiting for a review of this one, might wait for a patch for those stuttering issues or a substantial sale. Anyway, thanks for the vids guys
I’ve heard mixed things about this game but even still I was waiting on a review from you guys, I will probably get it seeing as how I LOVE samurai and ninja games!
Samurais and ninjas are awesome! 😆
@@Ser-Smiley yesss they are!
This game is so aesthetically pleasing. I played it on my Series X via Gamepass but have picked it up on my Switch too for some on the go samurai fun.
Huge fan for about a year now...keep up the great work.
This game is one fine side scroller. One of the best! Wishing for a physical.
Right?! I love the smooth movements, it's so satisfying to watch
A physical of this would be awesome!
It will have a retail release in Europe! According to German Amazon, it'll be out in May
@@Anni_ka thanks for the info, I'll definitely be on the lookout for that one!
@@Anni_ka Hope it's a physical for everyone and no FOMO bull. Could see they had marked a May physical in the review so will hopefully come across it then
I've been waiting for this one! I think I hoped the combat would be a bit more fluid, though, as it really seems like it's very stiff at times in the footage. Even so, I might pick it up if it goes on sale, because it still looks like a decent time.
Thanks for the review, as always!
Yeah. I'll add this one into my wishlist at least and maybe get it when it's on sale.
Are you enjoying your switch?
It released on sale already. The time is now.
Absolutely love this game! Combat gets a little dull after some time but gamę deliveres great history and amazing artstyle.
Art design is very on point with this one. Legit looks like art!
This art-style is amazing!
Never heard about the gane but i like the art style and the atmosphere
Such an awesome nod to Zatoichi or Lone Wolf and Cub with that black and white cinema style
“Almost Sensei-tional” …love it!
I really like the look of this game, but I will definitely be waiting on a sale. Thanks for the great review.
Looks interesting. Especially with black-white gameplay.
Makes me want to watch old black and white samurai movies this one.
Hm. Maybe i'll go and watch the 1st Zatoichi movie again. I like that one. 😋
@@Ser-Smiley It does remind me of those japanese "turn combat" movies. I do not remember the name...
Here's the one I've been waiting for!
Indeed! I've been waiting for this one too 😋
@@Ser-Smiley definitely waiting for a sale on this and the pathless.
@@jordongee2347 for sure. Ill wait for sale too. As usual. 😆
Solid review as always. Think I'll wait for a sale on this one.
*back log relaxes*
The game is definitely a looker, but I'm glad it's not too long - I imagine the 100 shades of grey could become a bit depressing if it was 20+ hours or so?😅 Anyways, this sounds decent enough to get during a good old sale!
I'm just glad they didn't call the game 100 Shades of Gray. That would've been awful 😅
@@mvm8397 I think if they had called it 100 shades of grey, people would have assumed it had a very different target audience 😂
"100 shades of gray samurais". Yeah, that's a funny title. 😂
@@Anni_ka For sure! 😂
Wow, that artstyle is fantastic. Might pick this up in an inevitable sale.
Was waiting for this! Thought you missed it!
I heard there will be a physical special edition coming out later on.
Brilliant review. I just may pick this one up
The art style is so cool
Bought when it came out and it was absolutely amazing.
I'm not too sure what to make of this one. It certainly sounds like the game leans towards style over substance (which isn't inherently a bad thing), but if that style and aesthetic aren't able to fully shine on the hardware, then that may become a bit more of a drawback.
In any case, I enjoyed the review, so thanks! I liked how you drew comparisons with the cinematography that inspired the game and reflected on how it incorporated some of those themes and visual elements.
Love the art direction
Was hoping you guys would cover this one
It looks really good 😎🤙👍👍
Never even saw this one pop up, but I'm interested as I love me some ol' point and click!
I thought this game looked really cool from the trailers. Sifu was the first thing I thought of when I saw some of the moment-to-moment gameplay. Great visual style and some rad effects on display. I’ll keep my eyes out for a sale on this.
This game is definitely one I will buy. I almost bought the PS5 Physical a bit ago and now I can’t decide which one I want. I’m fine with waiting though so will probably let price be the deciding factor for me.
A big part about visuals yet you didn’t mention if it runs on 30 or 60 fps which is the most important thing
Thanks for the review.
Does anyone know if the PS5 version has the performance and "fluent"- issues? I will buy it physically in May, but I'm not sure whether PS5 or Switch version.
Currently playing it, and so far I'm enjoying the story
I've been looking forward to this review! This game is so appealing to me, but I didn't know it was that short. So which one would you recommend most out of the two recent short games you reviewed? This one or the pathless?
I wish you review midnight fight express as well!
The combat was a bit shallow for me but it was short and something different with nice visuals
This game could've been amazing. It really needed a little more time to smooth out some things in my opinion. I may get it after a deep discount
I do descend into a bit of panicky button mashing on occasion, so this might not be for me...
Got to admit it looks stylish though
Combat on this one looks sick!
It sure does! And that Kurosawa visual. 😋
This game is pretty fun 😄
Thanks for the review.
Hope they patch in a magnifying glass feature to see what you're doing in the game
The visuals definitely make it interesting. I wonder if some patches will clear up the performance issues?
Trek to Yomi is absolutely fantastic and play well on the switch considering the performance issues STILL present playing on the new Xbox’s. Super fun, short, interesting and absolutely nothing like Ghosts of Tsushima.
Is repetitive, yes, but is also a cinematic experience that reminds me Kurosawa's films
I forgot this game was even out but I may get it on the Switch now
How did you almost miss it … it just came out
Even if I take this Trek, I'll still be at home with a cup of tea or coffee 😁
Like the idea of the filming but not really my thing. Great review though.
I was hoping you'd review this one. I really wanted to like it based on the art style and samurai film pastiche. A bit disappointed after the review and the combat limitations so I think I'll stick to sifu and wait for a patch to see if that fixes the performance issues. Or a sale. Or both!
Hope there is a patch to fix up the performance. i assume the stutters is due to streaming issues.
This was going to be a purchase based on beauty alone for sure.
I love the style here and am willing to play even an average game because this all comes together to be a sum greater than its parts.
Also, 5 to 7 hours sounds like a sweet spot to not out stay its welcome.
Performance issues are disappointing. May have to play this on PS4 instead.
Kind of disappointing that they didn't do better with this game. Hopefully they at least patch things up performance wise. Not much you can do about the repetitive nature of the game, but repetitiveness happens fairly often in games anyway sooo 🤷♂️
Maybe we'll get an "all patched up" video for this one someday. 😆
There a physical version anywhere? Thanks
Wow, this game did come out last year and still got issues on switch.. great review Glen 😊 , but I’m so over the switch now..
I was waiting for this game drop on switch.
I just hoped the blood splatters were rendered in red.
I like looking through my dogs eyes- haha
Is it better on Switch or on PS5? I'm torn between the two consoles 🥲
Looks good. Let me know when it's on offer 😉
I played it on PC and it's an absolutely beautiful game, but the combat is not really fleshed out as I hoped and the game itself is too Short. I WANTED MORE!!!!!!!
I know what I'm playing this weekend😏
Ghost of Tsushima switch version
We have Ghost of Tsushima at home
@@JustSumGuy01 but this time the one at home is better. 😅
Ghost of Tsushima X Bladed Fury
@@Ser-Smiley I disagree but I will play this game
This is no ghosts of tsushima!
sorry, who rates things out of 20? like what's the difference between 14, 15 and 17
I think i will get "like a dragon Ishin" this month. Too bad we get no yakuza on switch...i think the graphic/style of trek to yomi is a blender for the game. I heard mixed reviews.
Ooh. If we can play Like a Dragon on the switch, it would be great.
@@Ser-Smiley well like a dragon with the new engine would not happen but the older yakuza games which are based on ps3 should be no problem.
Played then got really bored, when it went on game pass
I read many reviews like yours and just by looking at the game mechanics, it looks like it quickly gets repetitive and boring. Switch Up generally give favourable reviews, not sure if it's just because they're nice guys who know game development isn't easy or if it's because getting sponsorship is easier if you don't trash games. Personally, I like their review contents but ignore their scores and look for other sources for that.
Looks great!
Is the entire game in black and white?
$30 aud? Bruh I got it for 60 yesterday I need to know where it’s 30 bucks
🥋 This is a game where motion control would have elevated the experience to samurai visceral gudness.
Honestly, it’s stylistically beautiful but the gameplay is pretty shallow. I would wait for a sale.
I was hoping this was a sidescrolling Ghost of Tsushima. Boy did I bet on the wrong horse. I guess I'll wait the combat to be patched before getting it.
Challenging game but it’s so good!
The only thing that disappoints me is I can’t take pictures or capture videos like other games.
Kinda expected for it to look better. Those emotionless faces don't help. But maybe a 50% sale would convince me to try it anyway
I bought it without second thought
Hopefully a patch will come soon to fix these issues. Anyone know of a physical release?
PlayStation 5 / PlayStation 4 March 31 2023
Incredible game ❤😊
I love the aesthetic
Good review, the game is decent but there are better games to be spending the pennies.
Sale pick up for me. That'll give me time to finish Bayonetta 3 🤣
Since the game is B/W, they could've made the blood red. Or at least give us an option. That would've been cool
That would not be a great as the idea behind this game is to capture the feeling of Japanese films of the early to mid XX century which are Black and White. Colored films were not introduced in Japan until the mid 60s
@@alpha34098 Yeah, you're right. Forgive me, i tend to act like a maniac when the subjects are videogames lol. Also, i always think about Tenchu hahah
Not for me, but does remind me of Bushido Blade. I wasn't a fan of that game either.
Thank you for the video though.
Played this on games pass could of been so good but just something about just dissapoints in few areas.
I love the look of this game. However, the Way of the Samurai is not an enjoyable journey for me. Good luck to those who embark on the Trek.
