I always get insecure when i hang out in big groups or at parties and im breaking out, but it makes me feel better seeing that other people there struggle with acne too! If its not too bad, most people aren't really judging you by your face and its all in your head!
I can’t afford a dermatologist but this is so informative and it’s like getting a free consultation and on top of that recommendations for products! Thank you!
Honey saved my mother's finger. When she was young she cut her index finger and it got badly infected over time so the doctors wanted to amputate it but one grandma came and made a "dough" of honey and flour and put it over her finger for a few days and it took out all of the pus so there was no need to amputate!

The cerave skin renewing night cream saved my skin. I had red itchy bumps after overdoing it with some aha/bha serum and it was the only thing that helped.
Dr Shah is just glass skin beautiful. Dr Maxfield is plain and simple moisturizer beautiful. And i like it that way because we have someone who has a simple, every person skin care, and another one who is a bit more particular about his routine.
Thank you so much for all of the useful information you guys put out! That would be interesting to see a video on common skincare ingredients to watch out for... I've found that there's quite a varying opinion on a lot of ingredients I see because I see and read a lot of dermatologists recommending products with ingredients that another dermatologist says to completely avoid - but hearing two dermatologist's (with different skin types) opinions at once could really clarify things for us who are out here trying to figure out which dermatologists to listen to! My assumption is that some of them say the opposite of what another says about certain ingredients (or just recommend products that have an ingredient another derm completely avoids) because of how their skin personally reacts to products with that specific ingredient.
Glad you guys rated niacinamide high as I'm trying not to overuse too many active ingredients unless it's an ingredient that is proven to have actual benefits. And I'm a big fan if cerave and noticed changes in my skin texture for the better since I started using them so glad you guys approve of ceramides too. I have both the ordinary and paula's choice azelaic acid products but don't use them, but I think I should now for my scarring.

Dr Maxfield is a morning person like myself! Don’t meet very many morning people so it’s exciting to me! Lol! Maybe Hyaluronic is overrated but it’s probably my favorite ingredient since I have such dry skin. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!!!! 😃😃
Hi Dr Maxfield and Dr Shah, can you please talk about body skincare routines? Such as body acne, body hyperpigmentation, cellulites, stretch marks, etc.
Just found this channel. Really love these two and how charismatic and knowledgeable they are- and they viben’ great together. Would love to see them show us a DIY mask with those foods Dr. Shah recommend. Would be a great video.
I think you two are underrated!! I'm so glad I came across your UA-cam channel, your advice has helped me understand my oily skin better. Since I've changed my skincare routine and starting to see gradual results.
I'm new to skincare routine and I'm 24. I've suffered from acne, scars, oily, whiteheads and black heads that it lowered my self esteem. I literally know nothing about skin care products aside from facial washes that I've only been doing for long. Reading and watching this kind of videos really helped me to step forward to a good and healthy skin, so glad and lucky to discover your channel. 😍💖
Niacinamide has made the most marked improvement in my skin. That and BHA. Also, my daughter thinks I'm old because I'm watching Dr Shah on UA-cam and not TikTok. But I can't TikTok. I just can't. I am old. It's OK.
I love that we crossed into two generations in the family! Tell your daughter we said hi! I post on multiple platforms to reach all age groups! Skincare is universal for all - I’m posting constantly on tiktok, Instagram, UA-cam, and now I do a live show twice a week on clubhouse!! - Dr Shah
@@Doctorly I'd say the younger generation needs you but women my age have tried to get me to scrub my face with sugar and lemon so I'll call it a draw and say you're doing the work that needs to be done across all platforms and we appreciate you!
I find myself smiling through all your videos. What a great duo. And I've just ordered my Azelaic Acid from The Ordinary so I'm glad you think it's underrated. Hoping it helps with my rosacea redness.
Skin care is underrated as a whole, in my opinion. I'm just getting on board and almost 40 yrs old, and a lot of my friends still just use bar soap, and I'm like YOU GUYS!! I cant stop staring at their wrinkles and blackheads now, as if I have the right to be a skin snob after one month. 😂
@@aao7785 Oh gosh those two are the worst... Coconut oil is extremely pore clogging but hey, if it's been working for you then keep going at it.. If you're using coconut oil as part of a double step cleansing routine, then it doesn't really matter which oil you use since you'll be washing it off anyways.. But as a moisturizer, I would recommend a different plant oil like hemp, jojoba, or rosehip. I personally like Seabuckthorn, Squalane and Sunflower. Bar soap isn't recommended for facial use because it contains harsher cleansing ingredients/surfactants and detergent components that are too drying for the face. The skin on our bodies is thicker than on our face so if you use bar soap, you may be stripping your face of essential oils and that can lead to dehydrated skin, which can then either lead to dry skin or an over production of oil as your skin tries to replenish the moisture loss, and with too much oil of course comes acne, clogged pores etc. Your face shouldn't feel super squeaky clean and dry after you wash it, which is what I used to go for as a teen not realizing that it's actually making my acne worse. Also, if your cleanser has an active ingredient in it, such as salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide or an AHA, the key is to leave it on for 1-2 minutes or so before rinsing it off so it has some time to absorb and do its thing. I would opt for a hydrating gel or creamy cleanser designated for facial use as opposed to foaming (cream to foam is good though) since those contain milder cleansing ingredients. CeraVe makes some good ones if you're looking for drugstore options and the Aveeno Calm & Restore Line (Oat gel cleanser and Oat gel moisturizer) is really good too. Listen to your girl lol.
@@nissan_skyline wow I appreciate your time to write that comment. I’m actually gonna listen now, I mean yea my skin is okay and I feel clean but maybe long term it’s not the best way so thanks 😊

"I'm kind of like a sentimental person, so if I have an emotional connection to a particular brand or product..." THISSSS. You are not alone, Dr Shah!!! Maybe it's an Asian thing hahahaha
Love the format, wouldn't mind the format on specific conditions. Ie. Practices/devices/ingredients for acne or everything anti aging. Now that you say it, dr.maxfield does seem to have a gentle soul!
Thanks so much for sharing this! I think understanding your own skin is the most important part of the journey. And all of the ingredients can be so overwhelming. I appreciate you guys so much!

I love Cera Ve. That dang tub of cream is the best. I have given up on Vit. C. No luck with any brand. Looking forward to your video on skincare for 50s +. Ive always looked younger than my age. I turn 52 in a month and I definitely feel as though I look it now. Its depressing. I even quit my job in beauty after 20+ yrs. You guys have the best videos. Thank you for being so kind and sharing your knowledge with us!
Sorry guys, even if i agree with you, but the most underated ingredient is Urea. I tried it all, even tretinoin 0.1% for my acne, but urea 5% for one year made a huge difference! the most gentle exfoliation even doubled with a great moisturizing effect.
@@dynim1048 it's a healed cystic acne with tretinoin, with some remaining pimples here and there, a lot of scars (both inflammed ones and physical too). I saw the results of urea since the third month of using it on the texture of my skin. The best cream i tried with urea is Shiseido - Urea 10% Hand & Foot Cream (on yesstyle), but when i can't order it i buy Eucerin Urea Repair Crème visage 5 % (for face). To be honest, on my urea journey, never used an Urea cream that didn't worked. All were effective, the differene was on the feeling on my skin, that's why i prefer Urea creams for hands for my face, it's not greasy at all. (sorry for my english i live in France).
A video covering urea products for face, body and feet is by Dr Dray. It's called Urea Creams for Face and Body. She has other videos mentioning it as well.
Love your guys' content and the editing is fantastic for being so new, but one thing I'd love is for you guys to allow more "white space" for your pop-ups. The titles and product recommendation pop-ups are great, but since the camera is already pretty tightly cropped on you guys, it overlaps on you two a lot. Maybe move the camera back a bit or make it a bit less zoomed? Looking forward to the next videos! :)
@@Patricia-vs4dd I have it in my Curology prescription, but I’ve heard great things about the 10% from Paula’s Choice or either of the ones from Naturium. They just came out with an azelaic acid emulsion with skin soothing ingredients in it as well-it might be worth looking into that if you’re newer to the exfoliating acid game as it could be less irritating.
Thank you guys for doing this! My husband is so sick of me buying the latest greatest products with high hopes but low results. I have a plan and can clean out my drawers and work on a sensible routine!
@Theresa R you can use Azelaic Acid in the morning and evening, if you tolerate it well enough even twice a day but that’s not necessary for it to work:)

So, I decided to obtain my esthetician license for NY and you guys had some influence in my decision. Keep up the great work. Stay true and original to your viewers. Many more blessings!!!
Same, it saved my inflamed and red dry skin, while the other ingredients just made my skin worse.
Love the over/underrated vids! Please do one on at home spa devices like high frequency wands, derma-planers, derma-rollers, etc. Thank you!!
Yes! As a teen, honey was great when I had acne. It was super soothing and took away pain.
I think you two are underrated!! I'm so glad I came across your UA-cam channel, your advice has helped me understand my oily skin better. Since I've changed my skincare routine and starting to see gradual results.
Pray tell! What changes did you make?
Would love a vid on how to identify the type of skin you have
Dr Shereene Idriss, Dr Dray, Dr Alexis Stephens, Go See Christy and Beauty Within and others all discuss how to identify your skin type.
💯 💯💯
- Dr Shah
@@Doctorly - Where do you actually find time to actually practice medicine😉🤣😂? Love your UA-cam channel though 💐
@@Doctorly I'd say the younger generation needs you but women my age have tried to get me to scrub my face with sugar and lemon so I'll call it a draw and say you're doing the work that needs to be done across all platforms and we appreciate you!
Love this game & hearing your thoughts! Would love to see this become a series!
Stepping up your video game! I enjoyed it! Maybe a video for safe and unsafe products for POC?!
Dr Alexis Stephens and Dr Vanita Rattan cover these topics as well.
Omg.. your friends still using bar soap for cleansing their face?! Yikes 😳
@@nissan_skyline I’m a guy and new to this my girl always saying why I use soap and coconut oil but what’s wrong with soap honestly?
Sucks to be your friend.
Thank you for all the precious informations that you share!!🙏💕 Niacinamide and azelaic acid together with ceramides literally saved my skin which was sensitive with acne !!!
Thank you so much! I would like to see more ingedients videos in future!
Dr. Maxfield is so cute 🥰 aw
He looks so much better with a beard right?
I think you mean handsome 🙂
@@Me-fy8ue No, definitely cute, like adorable cute.
This duo melts my heart!
@Doctorly, Could you PLEASE do a video on under eye Milia!!!!! I can't get rid if it!!!
Me too!... they will not go away... they say they need to be extracted!... I am not doing that!
Yes!!
Any new info on milia? I have some directly under my eye. I don’t know how they’d be extracted without some skin damage or crazy bruising!
Would love some more of this topic!! Lactic acid, glycolic acid, maybe even salicylic acid for the hair 🤷🏼♀️
Hi, guys, would you think about making a video about FACE MASKS? 😀 Such as- which ingredients should we search for, how many times per week should we use it, some product recommendations.. 🙏🏼
Your work and effort are highly appreciated💙💙
As a master cosmetologist and aesthetician I’ve really enjoy your videos. Thanks a bunch guys!
I love the new format with the recommended products being mentioned on the side!
I'm in love with you videos. Love love love them. I had no skin care routine until now. I know everything about skincare ALL THANKS TO YOU ❤️
"I'm kind of like a sentimental person, so if I have an emotional connection to a particular brand or product..." THISSSS. You are not alone, Dr Shah!!! Maybe it's an Asian thing hahahaha
You say these are only your opinions but they are extremely credible opinions from professionals in the field. Thanks for sharing your wisdom.
Can we have Dr Maxfields skin care routine 😉
Sure. Be Italian or have olive type skin.
Retinol 3 times a day he said in another video
Up
@@SS-gz1lv 3 times a day? You mean a week? Or?
@@brookeelle6879 must be a week and most likely a medical grade one.
When I did my home care rotation in nursing school, I found it really cool that they used a honey dressing for someone's venous wounds.
love all these videos, so informative! Is there any way you two can walk us through a skincare routine for melasma and hyperpigmentation?
You both are such a joy to watch, you having on camera having fun, makes it fun to learn !
I’d like to hear about urea please
Soooo glad you guys came up on my feed, I love that y’all make these videos, so informative. I just turned 50 in July and for a year I have been taken care of my skin, this has helped me sooo much, thank you, pleas make a video for 50 and advice on skin care
Omg Dr. Maxfield’s name is Luke? This tracks so hard haha 🥰
Dr. Shah, your gentle soul shows through those baby blues 💙
This vid is so good! More pls 🙃
Its not cruelty free
Sorry guys, even if i agree with you, but the most underated ingredient is Urea. I tried it all, even tretinoin 0.1% for my acne, but urea 5% for one year made a huge difference! the most gentle exfoliation even doubled with a great moisturizing effect.
Totally agree - UREA IS AMAZING
Any recommended products? Also what type of acne, all?
@@gazellearabe2185 Thanks for your feedback
A video covering urea products for face, body and feet is by Dr Dray. It's called Urea Creams for Face and Body. She has other videos mentioning it as well.
Love your guys' content and the editing is fantastic for being so new, but one thing I'd love is for you guys to allow more "white space" for your pop-ups. The titles and product recommendation pop-ups are great, but since the camera is already pretty tightly cropped on you guys, it overlaps on you two a lot. Maybe move the camera back a bit or make it a bit less zoomed?
Looking forward to the next videos! :)
Yesss azaleic acid is so underrated! It’s been a game changer for my hyperpigmentation!!
Hi Madelaine. Do you recommend a good brand for azaleic acid? I have a lot of hiperpigmentation😭😭😭. Thank you
@@Patricia-vs4dd I have it in my Curology prescription, but I’ve heard great things about the 10% from Paula’s Choice or either of the ones from Naturium. They just came out with an azelaic acid emulsion with skin soothing ingredients in it as well-it might be worth looking into that if you’re newer to the exfoliating acid game as it could be less irritating.
@@madelineortiz2288 Thank you very much for your time and help! 🙏
Thank you guys for doing this! My husband is so sick of me buying the latest greatest products with high hopes but low results. I have a plan and can clean out my drawers and work on a sensible routine!
Azelaic acid changed my life. my holy grail ingredient. very underrated
@Theresa R you can use Azelaic Acid in the morning and evening, if you tolerate it well enough even twice a day but that’s not necessary for it to work:)
Yes, I like the idea of both of you working together, having different ideas and discussions. You get along well, that’s helpful too! This way we get more information. And . Its more beneficial than hearing from a single person. Keep up the good work👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I honestly didn't use Cerve because I thought it was over hyped then i started using it a fee months ago and now I understand. My skin is on the dryer side and it works amazing on my skin. It's earn its rep.
Good for sensitive skin?
Always come away having learned something new! Plus, you make it fun! Double win, from 2 “gentle souls”!
Maybe an over/under video for supplements like collagen, or “essential greens” powders, vitamins, fish oils, pre natals, and etc ?
Yes, exactly this. Most MDs say “you’re wasting money and literally flushing it down the toilet.” Vital Proteins Beauty Collagen is really popular now and has a bunch of stuff I haven’t studied. I’d also appreciate them talking about the whole bone broth craze.
