If you liked this video, check out my tutorial on how to make a candle out of an orange:
bit.ly/2mUXLBY
Materials needed for natural wax mason jar candles:
- Pour pitcher or double boiler bit.ly/2myNIld
- Natural cotton or hemp wicks. I use 6" ECO wicks in size 10 bit.ly/2n3nHs2
- A kitchen/candy thermometer amzn.to/2mUYYt0
- Long Handled Mixing Spoon amzn.to/2mDbFrN
- Bamboo Chopsticks amzn.to/2n3pgWG
- Food scale amzn.to/2lZTr0g
- Natural Wax. I recommend this coconut wax bit.ly/2mV7vw9 or Golden Brands 464 for soy wax bit.ly/2dk26Iv
- 16 oz mason jars or glass containers bit.ly/2gdssyS
- Essential oils of your choice (I recommend Now Foods Brand). The oils I used in this video are bit.ly/2mjCeBB and bit.ly/2lViSiI
Directions
- Measure your wax into your pitcher (I used 14.5 ounces per 16 ounce container). Each pitcher holds enough wax for 4 candles comfortably.
- Heat wax in the pitcher directly on the burner on medium low heat. Coconut wax usually melts fully around 170 degrees Fahrenheit. Soy wax is similar but different brands of wax will have different melting temps and pouring temps so double check with the manufacturer if you have questions. Stir occasionally.
- Position your wicks while the wax is melting
- Cool wax to 160 degrees and add essential oils of your choice. You can add up to one ounce of fragrance per pound of wax or as little as you would like. Since essential oil is more costly than synthetic fragrance, I usually add 1/2 ounce per pound of wax. 1 Tablespoon = 1/2 ounce.
- Cool wax to 150 degrees Fahrenheit
- Pour your candles using a slow steady motion. Leave 3/4” of room at the top and save some wax in case you need to do a second pour
- Let candles harden/set for 3-4 hours
- Remove chopsticks and save them for future candlemaking
- If the tops of your candles have cracks, bubbles, or inconsistencies, reheat your leftover wax to 150 degrees Fahrenheit and do a second pour using a very thin layer of wax
- Let set for several hours or overnight
- Trim wicks to 1/4” with scissors
- Personalize your candles
- Enjoy your clean, non-toxic natural wax homemade candles! Great as gifts or for personal use!
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO LEAVE THEM IN THE COMMENT SECTION! XO
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- ALWAYS monitor your wax while it is melting. Unattended hot wax on a burner is DANGEROUS. To be safe, don’t let your wax heat to temperatures over 200 degrees.
- SAVE your bamboo chopsticks and REUSE them for your next batch of candles
- REUSE YOUR JARS! If there is wax left in the bottom of your containers when your candles have fully burned, freeze them for a few days, loosen the wax with a butter knife, dispose of the leftover wax, and wash the containers with soap and water. Use for more candles, drinking glasses (yes they are safe to drink out of!), canning, etc. etc. (See a demo of this in the video)
-If you are still burning candles made with paraffin wax (still the #1 wax used to make candles), educate yourself on the toxic qualities! Paraffin releases known carcinogens when burned and is a WASTE byproduct of petroleum that is produced when crude oil is refined into gasoline. EW! I will NEVER burn a paraffin candle again. So glad you made this video! So helpfull!!!!!!
🕯🌹🕯🌹🕯
This is glorious, I have been researching "candle making safety tips" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Cenadoelyn Candle Contemplation - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my work buddy got great success with it.
I know this is an old video, but my obsession with candles has left me with SO many left over glass containers and I need to repurpose that waste so THANK YOU for showing how easy it can be.
LOVE the idea of the wax seal on top, especially if the candle were a gift. It adds a wonderful uniqueness.
Thanks!! I think wax seals are really neat. They come in lots of different designs and also in every letter of the alphabet. I've always liked the idea of using a letter seal (such as the letter of your first name) to monogram/initial things that you make. Thanks for watching XX
@@itsblitzzz Can you tell us more about wax seals? Where did you purchase the wax for it? Do you recommend a certain brand?

These are beautiful, really stunning 💜 The best candle making video I’ve seen by far and I’ve watched many 💜👌
This was such a great video. After watching I did some more research on Paraffin Wax candles and I feel completely inspired to make the switch to clean burning candles.
The information you've provided in the description was more than helpful and everything was organized perfectly. Thank you so much!
The most thorough candle making tutorial I've seen! Thank you!!
Oh wowwwww I'm obsessed with candles and having scented things in my room/bathroom but I wasn't really aware paraffin was super harmful. I love this idea of personalizing my own scented candles though! Thanks for the tutorial
Thank you for teaching us how to make these beautiful candles! I appreciate that they’re clean & non toxic! Thanks for the product links! I find this so helpful!
I have never tried making candles. You make it seem so easy. You are an excellent teacher.
This is such a clear and excellent tutorial. You’ve thought of everything! I love the overall look and feel of your space, too. Many thanks 🕯✨

Excellent video. Great delivery. You make a wonderful teacher.
thank you so much!
Gonna have to try this! I absolutely love candles! I own so many & always have one lit. And it's great these are all natural & non toxic! Yes! Thank you! ♥️
This wax is freaking amazing. After watching this video I bought it and I don't think I could ever burn another kind again! Coconut seems to be the most, if not only, ethical kind out there overall, and I had NO idea. Also, if you ever think about it, I've been making my own tabs for the other half of the wicks I've had to cut (it was too much to consider wasting). I cut half inch circles out of takeout tins, then wrap about 1 1/2" - 2" circles of regular aluminum foil around the container circle and around the bottom of a wick scrap. Voila! Double the wicks (I make candles out of my shot glass collection, lol). I hardly throw away any of my wicks. :) Thanks for this video! Trying the coconut flakes soon. :)
Wow! Great video! Straight to the point with clear instructions! I can’t wait to do my first batch👍
great video! everything I needed to know before I get started making my own candles. So glad you used natural products and talked about how awful the petrol chemicals in mainstream candles are
This is soooo inspiring! ❤️I’ve been looking for non toxic candles. I think I might just make them myself

so sweet. thank you! ive never heard of coconut as a wax, so will definitely give it a try. also yay for HEMP WICKS! the wax seal is a new thing to me too, looking forward to trying all this out. thank you !!
Wow! What beautiful candles you make! Thank you for sharing
Thanks for this! I just started candle-making myself. I am also using coconut wax but I prefer beeswax both for its burn and its benefits; but it’s too expensive to use all of the time if you burn candles daily like I do. Coconut wax is great though.
And thanks for the message about paraffin as many people don’t realize the health risks. I have sarcoidosis in my lungs so it’s particularly important for me. For any candle DIY newbies reading this, also know that fragrance oils are not the same as essential oils. Wick choice also matter (many of the cheap ones are coated in paraffin). Do your research and burn clean, my friends! 🕯
I just tried your recipe, can't wait to see how they turn out!
thank you for making this i have been planning on starting a business selling home fragrances and really wanted candles to be on the list
Looks easy enough. I'm loving your videos!

I'm totally making these for my place and Christmas!
Love this! Thank you for sharing!
You are a GEM for this outstanding video!!!! Thank uuuuuuu
I love this video because it’s easy to follow. I might get inspired and create a similar video in Spanish. I would like to try adding dry lavender or rose petals.
Wow! Thank you 🙏🏼 🙏🏼🙏🏼 i can’t burn candles or have incense anything like that because my cat has asthma & is sensitive to them. I’ve always thought it was due to the ingredients in the candle etc & wondered if a “natural” candle would be okay.... 🤔🤔🤔 I appreciate this step by step tutorial as well as showing us the grossness from a standard candle vs these - super helpful!! 💚💜♥️
Thank you so much I’ve been wanting to make my own candles.
I'm asian & i never woulda thunk of using chopsticks to keep the wick in place lol. Genius ❤️
Great tutorial! And thanks for teaching me about the wax that leaves the sooty residue yuck! Do you have suggestions for good scent mixtures to make?
I love this video thank you so much for sharing
Wonderfully informative video. Thanks so much! Subbed!
You're so welcome! I hope you get to try it! XX
I’m loving your natural non toxic candles. I will definitely be making theses candles. What is the burning time with theses products?for the different size of container.
So beautiful! And I love the way you decorated the jars
thanks so much!! 🌹🌹
Awesome video. Thanks so much. Can you save and re use the left over wax?
Great tutorial! Do you have any experience with candle colouring? Or do you are there dyes of natural origin somewhere to buy?
So glad the u show this video w us because is awesome and very informative thank u 👍🤗☕ 🕯
This is so cool! I've never known too much about candles/wax, so I had no idea that the standard wax used is so.. icky haha. Totally want to try this. What are good natural ways to add color to these sorts of candles?
Nicely done! ❤️ Thank you.
Awesome video. Thanks for the tutorial~
I’m going to make these,Thank you!
👍Great advice, thank you for posting We burn candles in the kitchen sink with nothing flammable nearby. It cleans away the food smells.
It’s safer & you can turn your back as you cook or whatever without worry.
Loved this video! Thank you so much for doing this! One question: the wax you took off of the old candles at the end of the video, this can be used to produce new smaller candles or not?
Very nice. Veggie shortening candles are simular but super cheap. 😊👍
excited to try this !
I appreciate this video! Any idea if the same natural wicks you recommended would work for beeswax? I
This is amazing!! Thank u so much
Awesome video !! Love your nails too xx
Amazing video 💙 I wondered - can you smell coconut at all from using coconut wax?
Tthanks for this very helpful video. Where did you buy the Coconut wax? Also the Now Essential oils for so cheap?
Just waiting on my pitcher!!!!!
Can you add natural herbes powder like cinnamon or rosemary
Idk about the color they may give or the texture but i kinda think of it while watching this
Great video Very professional! 💙
Where can you buy coconut wax Julia??
I can't wait to try this!💗
I have been making my life so hard by melting the wax out of my seven day candle jars for repurposing lmao It didn’t even occur to me to freeze them doh! Thank you!
Love it!
This was a good video to watch, thank you
HI! Thanks for the tips... i want to start making my own candles and never heard of the coconut wax so super excited to try that along with beeswax.
Inwas wondering if you ever tried to add riny dry herbs inside for an extra natrual touch? Its what I want to do, but wanted to be want to be sure to learn how if even should for safety purposes (would it be flammable, etc?).
Thanks
Loved it! Thank you.
Thank you for this video! I am so escited to finally have time to try this for myself. I am trying not to use Amazon so does anyone have suggestions for alternatives to where I can find coconut wax and the Eco Wix? Thank you.
This was a great diy !
Thank you for making this video!
cant wait to make this.. when they are burning can you really smell the essential oils? or is it just a light scented candle?
