Panasonic 2022 OLED TV Lineup: More Heatsink & More 42-inch OLEDs than LG & Sony!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 тра 2022
- Panasonic has unveiled its TV lineup for 2022, comprising five OLED ranges, namely the flagship Panasonic LZ2000, the step-down Panasonic LZ1500, the midrange LZ1000, as well as the entry-level LZ980 and LZ800 (UK-specific model).
Somewhat surprisingly, the Japanese brand launched more OLED models with heatsink (the Panasonic LZ2000, LZ1500 and LZ1000) and 42-inch versions (the Panasonic 42LZ980, 42LZ1500 & 42LZ800) than LG and Sony combined in 2022.

“And as some of you may know different thicknesses can bring a different experience” - HDTVTest 😉
For real Vincent, I'm gonna die...I can't...lmao
“Different thickness can bring different experience “
Must. Be. Thiccccc
Lol
This is TVs were talking about! not a woman! lol
I'm new to your channel and I love how you get straight to the point with no bullshit starts
I have the 55GZ950 and it's a fantastic panel still (minus the lack of retro game resolution support). I've been using Panasonic TVs for 20-years now and they have all been super impressive!
I also have GZ950 and i love it. The tv does support composite and component so you should be good to go with old games consoles etc.
Retro game resolution support? May I ask you what are you talking about? I own a GZ1000
I have GZ950 and the LG C1, still prefer the GZ950 despite the year difference.
@@kaelmedia8693 yeah gz950 best for movies and c1 best for gaming.
@@alexroot1980 Apologies, I should have been clearer. It supports the typical 240p / 480i retro resolutions (and the PAL counterparts) just fine.
But most retro gamers use line doublers / multipliers (like the Framemeister and OSSC). Doubling 480p to 960p for example gives me no picture on the OLED. My old Panasonic LCD (now bedroom TV), the TX40C300B displayed every resolution I threw at it, all the way up to 1080p.
Minor issue, but does mean that I'm stuck with native resolutions if retro gaming.
Could you compare the 42" models from both LG and Panasonic to see if there is any difference between the two panels at the same size.
Add sony A90K to the list as well
@@suraj4020 if they ever release it. Disgusting lack of info so far from Sony.
@@mojomaster1979 yup they have been awfully silent about it. I believe we would start having more info pop up in the coming weeks.
@@suraj4020 my patience is running out...you can pick up a C1 for half the cost of the A90K now....urghhhh
@@mojomaster1979 Haha Fair enough.
It is great that they release their models later to be able to use the newest panel tech in all of their models..
Less confusing for the customers..
Still after more than one year I am very impressed with my 2020 Oled and newer models keep getting even much better. This is insane picture quality.
Same here with gz2000, I only need more screensize.
QD Oled is next level though, if you can jump onto it...you should.
@@ManuelMedellin. In the future, micro-LED (an actual one, not the giant panels built from small separate mini-LEDs, which are marketed as "micro", even though they are a couple of orders of magnitude bigger than real micro-LEDs) will be even better. But not soon. Even further, the best option will be micro-LETs, meaning light-emission transistors. This would eliminate the need for a separate (though joined) transistor matrix/panel.
“Different thickness brings different experiences” You are on a roll Vincent ! Thank you for your dry sense of humor 😉
Keep up thr good work Vinny... thank god for you, a proper expert and professional in an ever growing sea of hapless flaming UA-camrs
Looking forward to the reviews on the 2000. I have been told by my local dealer that the sets should be in their store by mid July. Shame the 1500 didn't come at a 77 screen size.
Very exciting to see this 42 inch panel size get more attention. I hope we can get to 32 inch OLED soon
I'm looking forward to 32" 2560x1440p OLED / QD-OLED to use as a monitor.
Then Micro LED to crush them both hopefully lol. (By then I'm sure PCs will be mostly capable of4k 120hz high/ultra settings though, so 4k would be fine)
I am all in for the 42 inch as a gaming screen Love Panasonic
I always wait for the moment the ding comes in your videos :D
Really interested in the 42" size as PC monitor. If you could test these with LG would be much appreciated.
Well, since i had a Panasonic Plasma TV before switching to LG Oled, I'm now interested how the new Panasonic OLED in 42" will compete to the LG one. can't wait for a comparison 🙂
Thank you very much Vincent ; you helped me .
Panasonic LZ2000 already preorderd 💪
Vincent, for Sony TV's, there is another power saving setting, besides the ambient light sensor. It is located in the device preferences > power > power saving.
lz980 for pc monitor? worth considering after reading and finding out the specifications if it suits my use.
What's the difference between the 980 and 800? Only the sound system or there is more? In that case I'd purchase the bottom one coz I use external setup for audio.
Waiting for your review of Panasonic LZ 2000 on its color accuracy and gaming features + the depth of picture ( realism )
Hi, somehow the Intelligent Frame Creation is greyed out for me in the settings while the PlayStation 5 is connected to HDMI2 120Hz eARC. Any hidden setup i have to do to make it available? Thank you! EDIT: Found it... in the Picture and then Option-Setting under Inputlag from Auto to Normal, activates the IFC... oh and ALLM has to be off - German TV Modell
Vincent is hilarious 😂
Can we expect a review of the LZW-Models anytime soon?
I really don’t get why the heatsink wasn’t added to the 42”, it’s the one that benefits the most as people use it as a monitor
Exactly that ☝️
Maybe they're releasing a monitor only version with one later...
So sad
Yea it's weird. LG won't enable brightness booster on the sub-55" models because they're too pixel-dense, and then manufacturers refuse to counteract that with a heatsink.
@@james.telfer id be fine with that. all the "smart tv" features and settings can get chucked for use as a monitor
It would have increased the price too much compared to the competition. People always say they are willing to spend more but in reality they overwhelmingly go for the cheaper option.
That white balance correction for the ambient sensor could be awesome! i hope its implemented well and Sony will follow.
I was also hoping to hear more about TrueCut this year but it seems only TCL seems to be implementing that.
Its also to bad Panasonic does not have 83" TV's. They are always behind with screen sizes. Maybe not a issue for most people but for people that already have a big screen its not ideal and they will probably pick a brand that does have the bigger sizes.
they choose based on quality, larger Oled screen have more uniformity issue, so they increase the size based on their quality standards
42 with heatsink 👅
Nice video Vincent, as always. I’m looking for an oled tv/Monitor for a little nerdy room that I have, and I want it to use it as a monitor for the PC and for the consoles. Im mostly interested for the LG C2 42 inch and the Rog Swift Oled PG42UQ, but there isn’t a review for that model yet, so I have 2 questions: 1: Would you review that Rog Oled panel whenever is released? And secondly, having in mind all the tv/monitors of 42 inch that are gonna be released during this year, wich one would you recommend me? Thanks and keep it up.
If TV reviewers don't look at the ASUS OLED monitors, at least PC reviewers like Hardware Unboxed hopefully will.
I've heard very little about the ASUS OLEDs, but their special anti-glare coating might be a differentiating factor for their use cases (so something to pay attention to). They reportedly also have heatsinks, which TV manufacturers for some reason won't put on their 42-48" panels.
i’d like to know this too as i’m considering holding out buying the LG C2 42 for my Macs. The ROG Swift will be over priced maybe double of the C2 so theres no point putting 3k on that monitor when an 42 QLED will come out in few months for same or lesser price tag
@@joyboy6535 What 42" QLED?
Dear PANASONIC, please start selling your beautiful TVs in North America! Thank you in advance.
Does the LZ1500e have the same picture qualities that the LZ200e ...because I use my own audio system?
Hi Vincent, do know any more on the UK release date and pricing for the Lz1000?
Great Content, can u review the latest Mi OLED Vision TV..
Do you have a video on or plan to cover the new Phillips line for 2022?
Any test of the 60hz direct mode? I am pretty hyped for that feature.
Hello is thé 65lz1500 a good choice? I have a gz950 in 55
Hi I am looking for 55” inch tv
Which is good Sony or Panasonic or Samsung ?
Looks great!
When you gonna spectrograph the Samsung qd-oled tv?
very good information 👍👍👍
Panasonic JX700 43 does it have a good image? is good TV?
Great video, excited to see how their TVs perform! I really like Panasonic, and we still have our 42” G10 plasma in our bedroom (purchased in 2009). Glad to see some emphasis on gaming. Do we know if their sets are going to be available here ‘across the pond’ in ‘Merica?
Thank you for the great videos and information!
Your g10 must have horrible blacklevels by now?
@@turrican4d599 yeah, not amazing… but otherwise TV still works great 👍🏻
@@turrican4d599 yeah but for the time it was a beast. I had the Z10. It was outstanding with bluray contents. Now being "spoiled" by oled it's hard to go back.
HI! Which TV is the smoothest with a PC plugged in but with fluidity processing? THANK YOU
Panasonic managed to reach over 1000 nits in HDR with the standard LG OLED panel. I wonder what they can do with the EX panel.
Realistically they should leave it around 1,000 nits if they continue to use WRGB OLED panels. The higher you push the brightness the more color is lost in bright highlights. I hope LG adopts QD OLED tech cause if LG made a QD OLED I’d throw my Samsung S95B straight out the window
@@jayroman3384 not necessarily, the brightness increase from recent years in WRGB OLED panels doesn't come only from the white subpixels.
You guys seem to ignore ALL four subpixels of a pixel are white !
As a consequence of increasing light output on the (four) white subpixels also RGB colours get brighter ... of course not by 100%, because of the RGB colour filter absorbs about 50% (in average) of the light.
So, example: if the tv can get brighter by +100 nits ... RGB colours will also go up +50 nits (average of R, G & B)
1000 nits white color sure
I want to see what Panasonic can do with Samsung's QD-OLED.
wouldn't they be able to put the 'game board setting' on the JZ series with a firmware update ❓ would that be possible 🤔
Is the 42 inch TX 1500 a WOLED or an OLED panel, if anyone kindly can clarify? Am scouring for a ‘poor man’s professional color grading suitable’ display that can be calibrated accurately with Calman Home for Panasonic with a SpectraCal C6. An alternative to USD 10-20k grading displays made by the likes of Sony, FSI and Eizo, in other words. Also key here, does this 42 inch TX 1500 support internal pattern generators?
Pinnacle of WRGB OLED Capability.
Hi I just subscribed to your channel, congratulations, I wanted to ask for your expert advice I need to buy a new 65 inch OLED TV which of the following models LG C2, Sony A80j/A80k, Panasonic LZ980, has higher brightness with more colors brilliant ? with three-dimensional and defined images ? which one is also better in upscaling ? thank you very much greetings from Italy
This is looking great on paper, but it will be interesting to see the final product's quality since Panasonic outsourced its tv production to Philips. Also, even if its excellent (which I hope it is!), will be important to see how it compares with Sony A95K, especially, because Panasonic's flagship wouldn't necessarily be any cheaper.
Absence of BFI intensity is unfortunate it is truly nice for 120hz motion clarity at 4k in PC mode especially in competitive first person shooter literally looking at butter smooth provided your framerate is at or above refresh. Wonder if they took it out because it was incompatible with new panel hardware or software technique
Can you please review hisense oled A85h? No review in the internet at all. Thanks
Just bought the 2021 modell. A night and day difference to my prior lg c9. Love Panasonic
Really? I have a c9 now, have you noticed that much of a jump? I'm looking for a 65" oled to upgrade from my c9. Haven't really thought about Panasonic before but your comment has made me consider them now. Thanks
@@scottharris1552 yes really. I have the panasonic 2 weeks now and everytime I start watching on it I am stunned. Even Dolby Vision content is way better looking on it. The picture has much more depth to it and I really like the software on the tv. Only the TV speakers are not as good. I still have a c9 in my bedroom and compare them often. The Pana is also better than the Sony A90J, picture wise the difference is not as huge compared to the LG but Sony’s Software is just crap…
@@Watchmyarm wow thanks mate I'm now excited to look into getting the panasonic 😄👍🏻
@@scottharris1552 let me know which one you got. I just think Panasonic TV’s are only underrated because they don’t sell them in the U.S.
@@Watchmyarm yeah I think you're right. There's not much media hype around them like the LG oleds. But I've always respected panasonics passion for trying to stay close to the creators intent. I've never owned one but I've heard great things about their picture quality and always wanted to try one.
Just bought a JZ1000B for 1200 notes, absolutely tasty picture. Not sure you'd actually "need" anything better. Need to play around with the settings a little to optimise things tonight, but then the movies will begin in a renewed glory :-)
ok, but are they available in my country?
Hi Vincent
Are you planning on reviewing the new Panasonic MX950? Zero reviews are available online of the MX950 when it's been out for a while. All the new MX models reviews can be found online by both professionals and customers, except for the MX950.
Looking at either purchasing the MX950 or Sony 90L (full array).
Many Thanks 👍
The JZ1500 also lacks the composite and component inputs compared to the flagship model. Underrated feature it seems. It’s great for RETRO game consoles
*I LOVE* how the guy says "2022", which sounds like "tu-tu-tu-tu".
I was a huge fan of my old Panasonic HD CRT TV, I have not had anything Panasonic since - this 42 1500 model may be it!
I'd be interested to know if there's a 42" display built on this monitor without the antenna/cable. Also, with all these 42" models, is there a "best for home office work" that could be used also for PC gaming and movies?
im looking for the same exact thing. i want to know the best 42 inch screen i can use a monitor for gaming and work. might have to wait a few years for the tech to improve for monitor uses tho with out a lot of the drawbacks
great vid
can you tell me what colorimeter you use to calibrate your displays? thanks 😊
I do not care about reflections. But as a reviewer you could rate (numbers) the TVs for its reflections by using some kind of panel having / producing different luminance of light (not necessarily active). For ex: @2:15 - The TV on the left side is showing objects with 2 (or may be 3) different light intensities. Would have been nice to see how the right side TV performs for the same. People might find that kind of comparison/rating scale interesting because not all of them would have a studio light behind their backs, but may be objects with varying levels of light intensities in their home which could turn out to be distracting in dark scenes!
Wonder why manufacturers refuse to release 42-48" models with heatsink. Wouldn't that help counteract their higher pixel density and enable either brightness booster or at least faster retention clearing and longer lifespan (especially for monitor use)?
Probably (launch) prices are already too high for most gamers, and smaller size is disadvantage for brightness too.
The addition of a heat sink would increase the price too much.
I'd pay $100, maybe $200 extra for a heatsink. Considering a smaller panel needs a smaller heatsink as well, it should be doable.

In Greece we have the LZ800 in 42" and 48" is it a good choice to connect my series X on it? tnx.
I'm intrigued by how the gaming options stack up against LG's system, I'm almost set on a 55 inch G2 later this year but I'd consider the lz1500. I look forward with much anticipation to your review.
Panasonic never had gaming as a priority and their rma/service and support is downright terrible. They pulled from several markets for a reason and outsorced their lcd line up (oled will probably follow soon)...
@@Dr.WhetFarts certainly doesn't sound positive, seems I'll be going G2 then 😁
Can you buy the lz2000 in the us and Canada
Not heatsink with 65LZ1000 ? In europe? Sure ?

Yh but how gd is it compared to LG C2 42? cause LG are the original producers for the OLED panels and that tv is 1ms input lag something i assume Panasonic won’t be able to reach. its gd that its using WBE but how gd is it compared LGs oleds in term of colour quality n input lags
Any news on Sony A90K?
the 2 hdmi 2.1 ports situation still being a thing on the final straight to 2023 is kinda depressing. good thing both my b9 an c1 do not have that issue
Excellent video - it makes me wish Panasonic hadn't discontinued sales of their TVs in the United States. When Sony starts selling their A95K QD-OLED this June I will be VERY interested in seeing how the W-OLED flagship models from LG and Panasonic compare to the QD-OLED TVs from Samsung and Sony (and which model will ultimately be declared the best TV of 2022).
Spoiler, Sony A95K 🤗🤗
I would be looking to get the A95K, unfortunately Sony in their infinite wisdom decided to only have two full bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports and made one of them the eARC port so I would be stuck with only one HDMI 2.1 input. For that reason I'm going with the Samsung S95B.
I wish panosonic still sold tvs in the US
I wonder if they upgraded the ethernet port to faster than 100mps.
Also the controller on my JZ2000 is horrible, no lights so in a dark room it's unusable.
Vincent, 120Hz VRR doesn't work on Panasonic TV's with the PS5. In the PS5 system menu the VRR range is shown as 48Hz-60Hz on my JZ980. Do you know about this issue?
Also was wishing Vincent would speak about this and ask if it’s a problem in their 2022 models
@Eiji Shinjo: Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We're not aware of it, because we no longer have a Panasonic OLED sample in our test room. We'll raise the issue with our contacts at Panasonic.
@@hdtvtest Thanks Vincent. I hope this issue can be resolved soon.
Thanks for bringing that up again, I brought it up on the VRR PS5 video. It would be fantastic if you could reach out to Panasonic or even Sony.
Me too, my JZ1000 also only support up to VRR 48-60hz! What is the point of Panasonic using a 120hz panel?
crazy how we all want qd oled now lols well i scored a c1 48 for 650 last month 1500 for a 42 is crazy even if it said pc monitor
Panasonic will be extremely strong in the next few years. Unlike LG and Samsung, Panasonic's have ALL the codecs. Up to hdr10+ adaptive and Dolby Vision IQ.
And the 4k players from Panasonic are the best on the market, above all because of their HCx processor, which really gets the best out of 4k material again. Anyone who has ever had a Panasonic player can confirm this.
Depends what you mean by "strong". I agree with everything you said, I have a UB820 and it's amazing. I still know that Panasonic are going downhill in terms of sales unfortunately. Their share of business has been steadily diminishing over the last few yeard and I dont think they'll be staying in the TV market for too much longer. They cater to hardcore enthusiasts but that's not a successful business model.
Haven’t seen the Panasonic but the C2 and G2 don’t look much different to me. The heat sink may help but not like I thought it would
what annoyed me is the 77" is only on the LZ2000 and most people who buy that size have a sound system either soundbar or speakers so why put in in built "atmos" speakers and make it heavy. I wish they had LZ1500 had 77"
Same.
I wonder how long will we have to wait for sub 40 inch OLEDs.
42 is fine for a monitor if you have a deep desk, but Id still prefer a smaller size.
Still. OLEDs are finally here.
Panasonic always means business when it come to OLED TV's
If you want an OLED Tv go for QD-OLED.
Wait a sec, where have I been?! Panasonic still makes TVs for the home market?!?!
Oled evo and ex are deuterium based. Not only EX
They've spent billions on R&D for minor gimmicks to raise sustained brightness or reduce image retention a few percent annually, but only now in 2022 someone finally thought to try just slapping a probably $50 fin stack on the back and seemingly eliminate these problems entirely? ...For real?
Oh! It would make it slightly thicker and heavier though!!! Can't have that! The sky might fall!
No usa release again?
I love my Panasonic Plasma, too bad we can’t get their oled’s in the US.
Need review pana lz1000 vs lg c2
Now that I know OLED is worth it. And that there are 42 inch options. The only step left is to decide which brand should I cash in with?
Panasonic are the masters of image quality. But... their stand design leaves a lot to be desired
That's why I was "forced" to buy the GZ1000 rather than the a-bit-cheaper 950. Horrible stand.
panasonic have the worst software, support and service/rma out of all tv manufacturers. they pulled their products from several markets because of this (and left people in trouble). never buy their overpriced trash.
@@Dr.WhetFarts I have their very last plasma still. After countless years it still has one of the best TV pictures ever. So cinematic and beautiful to behold still. I'm waiting on buying a new oled until this one literally dies.
It might not be the brightest, it might not even be 4K, but it's still better than most modern tvs by a long stretch - which tend towards eye searing showmanship.
If they have implemented gaming feature in a good way, my next tv will be again a panasonic (probably the lz1000). My old lcd edge led panasonic still amaze me with its picture quality, despite being only a lcd tv. Lg is good but i also watch movies so the calibrated mode of panasonic tv is still unbeaten and the choice is obvious for me
Gaming features and the option of a 77 inch is making it hard for me to choose between the LZ2000 and Sony’s A95K
Pana lz2000 or Sony A95k? Thats my doubt for next black friday purchase
That is the biggest TV duel this year for sure.
With the C1 you get everything and almost all 48” are wbe
Considering we have a potential breakthrough with oled brightness next year, it might be wise to wait if you can.
