In fact, Sony has very advanced technology in regards to backlight scanning/strobing. On X95L you can have 120Hz backlight scanning with almost no brightness loss and it has the best motion compared to any Oled I've ever owned, almost crt-like (including a90j and a95k which didn't even allow 120Hz bfi, but only 60Hz with too much flicker and brightness loss).

A90J is more or less on par with any WOLED ever made. It is bested by the new QD-OLED's but not by a mile and none are yet available in 83" or higher. And I agree, no downsizing!
The LG G4 will be substantially brighter with MLA in 83" for the first time this year. It will also likely have better processing than the A90J. But it won't have the higher color volume of the QD-OLED's. So the G4 would be your best bet in this year's tv's but if I was in your shoes, I'd keep holding out another year or two. We know the QN90C has 720 zones in 65". And the X95L 65" has 480 zones. 3x480= 1440 zones. That is double the QN90C.

This will help them get bright sure, but I still don't see the need to strive to go beyond 1,500 nits or so. They addressed that question tonight on the Sony After Hours Support show and it's largely because the MediaTek processors still provide the absolute best image processing technology. Plus, how hard is it to simply unplug one device and plug another one in if you have to? Why is that believed to be such a massive burden?
