The worst thing about the new year is not getting to hear Vincent say "2022" as much.
🤣Yes
Twenty twenty tree
14 syllables
Tuetutuetitu... Tuetuetitre
So true 😂
I'm happy to see brightness improvements beyond the 10% window size as well.
The colors also looked brighter, which is nice and important for WOLED
No content for a month -- now Vincent is making me remember all about TVs.
CES coming up
@@Ace21kgit’s already happening CES started
samee i been fine with my c1 but hey new tech is always exciting
And bad jokes 🤣
Tbh I forgot TVs existed.
Love how Panasonic always stay true to the directors intent and not the latest fad. Thanks Vincent as always for your honest hard work ,much appreciated.
Love how Panasonic isn't available to the US Market. 🤣
The directors intent is overrated. This is why there are picture modes. You can have an accurate mode and I can have a mode with a little bit more pop! They can both exist (that being said, let's not have any ugly hue shifts, shall we?).
Only 2 things are the most important: you like what you're seeing and there is some preservation of the general tonality
Most games and lots of movies out there are terribly mastered for HDR, so not always a good thing
@@stealthis I agree, yes the panasonic colors do look more true to directors intent but as someone thats not a crazy AV expert I would prefer slightly more pop of an LG, that being said I cant stand on default color modes while watching tv on an LG they oversaturate skin tones so people look orange its offputting but on the over hand that over saturation looks amazing if you are watching "Our planet" at 4K HDR. so I do agree different color modes 100% have their place
Directors intent...lol I adjust to what I like. My money. My damn intent!
WOW! What a surprise Vincent. From the video title, I was expecting this first measured MLA TV to be an LG.I love Panasonic TVs, too bad they're not selling them in the North American market.
Those are some insane improvements. Might consider a new Tv this year
Yep, after Samsung introduced QD-Oled last year it was obvious this year would be very competitive. Can't wait to see new reviews from all brands
yea, i think its time to put my CX on the backburner this year.... this year upgrades seem worth it. Holiday season is going to be very competitive for these manufacturers
i will not upgrade untill they make tvs with higher motion resolution or my oled gets broken
I wish Panasonic sold their TVs in America. Their processing sounds impressive.
The best part of this technology is that it is fairly simple, and doesn't require any additional electronics.
It's just magnifying and focusing the light using a special array of lenses.
You can't get more efficient than that.
1500 nits on Panasonic at launch = 1500 nits 1 year after you buy
1500 nits on Samsung QD OLED at launch = 1000 nits within 6 months after mandatory pushed firmware updates, which also break HDR
dont get updates :D Im still running an old firmware and getting 1500 nits :D
This is hands down the best HDTV testing and reporting channel on YT. However, I have to make sure I'm wide awake before I watch. Your voice is so soothing, it relaxes me to the point of dozing off. And I mean this in the best possible way! Cheers and keep up the great work!
Good to see Panasonic still got it. They have been working hard on improving brightness for a number of generations of OLED and their colour and motion processing has always been top rank. If they had the latest mediatek SoC and used the google TV interface they would be winning all the prizes if cost isn’t a factor.
Next year they'll probs best everyone
1500 nits for an OLED is outstanding. They really need to improve 50% and above window size especially 100% window size.
Improve somewhat but nobody would appreciate to be blasted full screen with 1000 nits - it would blind you for a moment.
This is what I was waiting for. Need those measurements. Hopefully the LG is the same.
Same I held off to see what we will get in improvements
That intro was gold 😂
Thank you Vincent for your professionalism
@2:52 The MZ2000 looked very grey in the blackbars compared to the LZ2000, similar to S95b when hit by ambient light. Is this a flaw of MLA perhaps? Of did LG remove the polarizer?
its cos of MLA microbeads reflecting light
This is an unacceptable side effect of MLA.
@@JJ008 Yeah doesnt seem so good when you take this into account.
Holy crap you're right, that looks really bad
So what's the point in getting a OLED if you don't get inky blacks? And why is hardly anyone talking about this issue? This includes Vincent. Why not get a LCD if one of the big advantages of OLED is gone? What a joke.
I really wanted to watch the video of how MLA works and try to click on the link immediately without reading the link label. Can't wait for your next video.
Wow...keep spitting out these videos...feel like I'm in an endless loop of AWESOMENESS!!!
I'm hoping the reason Sony didn't reveal any TVs in CES this year is because they are sorting out any issues with the Pentonic chip.... will be a bummer if the reveal comes later with the same old chip and ports
Wait what? There is no Sony in CES ? WHAT?!?!?
@@Oczko2171 No announcements - they will announce their 2023 at their own events.
@@Oczko2171 Sony will be present, but there won't be any TV related announcements
Their conference is tonight at 8pm EST. They better have the Pentonic SoC or they might as well just call it quits. It's beyond a joke to still have the old MediaTek again.
Especially since the "8K" version of Pentonic exist and have been for a while. They should then just use that and limit the 8K part on 4K TVs. I mean they would still need it for the Z series TVs. I happily pay another $100 if I know they have a Pentonic.
@@loki76 "or they might as well just call it quits"
Stop being dramatic. 😂
whats great about micro-lens arrays is that like heatsinks there is nothing keeping samsung from adding their own MLA layer on top of QD-OLED panels in the not so distant future
that sounds nuts!
Wow dam how soon is the distance future I want one lol
Qd oleds have some problems that i cant stand.i returned my,and not only i
@@bigben9056 wow what are the problems with qd-Oled please tell ?
I can only hope the new MLA LG tech gives the QD-OLED a run for its money because that will mean better competition and hopefully better prices for the consumer. Now I'll keep my fingers crossed that Panasonic comes back to North America.
After seeing all the new sets I don't regret buying last year. It looks like extra brightness is the main thing over last year and I don't even use my S95B at it's fullest brightness capabilities being in a light controlled room.
I always keep my A80J at max brightness for HDR and Dolby Vision but SDR bring it down
Yeah everyone is focused on brightness and I'm over here thinking my TV is too bright on certain settings where I have to tone it down because my eyes start hurting. 🤷♂️
The MediaTek curse still hasn’t been lifted…
Hmm. All I ask is qd oled with Dolby vision and up to date gaming features which doesn’t cost 1k more than it’s worth. Still here with my C9 waiting for a worthwhile set to upgrade. The MLA looks great. It certainly solves the brightness issue. I still don’t see how it contends with QD oled though. The inherent problem of relying on the white subpixel is a hard ceiling on colour volume. The Sony A95k is the closest I’ve seen to what I want in a tv. I was hoping this year to see something close to that, that isn’t asking a ridiculous price tag.
Be happy with what you have. There is no need to move on from your c9 for several more years yet unless you just want to throw money away. Get some more use out of it, it is and will be a great tv for years to come. I'm keeping my a80k for many years. Kept my last plasma for 9 years and was happy with it every day.
Waterwulf You do realise only a handful of 4K blu rays effectively use the full Rec2020 colour volume. The majority of 4K blu rays were/are mastered with a colour volume normal OLED LG, Panasonic, Philips etc matches or exceeds.
87%+ Rec2020 colour volume from Samsung Display is impressive but the film studios aren't mastering the films (bar one or two) on 4K blu ray discs to take full advantage of it!
Panasonic LZ2000 won best Home Cinema TV in the HDTVtest Blind shootout 2022 ahead of the Sony A95K. Also won best Home Cinema TV in Avforums 2022 Awards.
I'd say you should go for the C3 or the C2, the A95k is just way too expensive for what it is. I understand it's great but it should be 200-300 dollars more expensive at best. The prices of the LG and Samsung TVs come down a lot as well so there's that.
@@tac6044 exactly! I’m still happy with my C8 with over 16k hours on it
@@tac6044 still has my Panasonic vt60 and very satisfied. It has this natural, pleasant colors, especially on faces, that I feel many of todays tvs cant match. They are bright as hell, but it still looks digital
Not gonna lie it's actually noticeable this time.
This versus a CX/C1/C2/ would be huge.
Seems like a significant upgrade for previous model. I hope they will have 77 inch model too. That would be something to consider for
55, 65, and 77 inch will have MLA! 83 will not.
How much does this increase cost? 50%, 100% or more?
If TV without cost $4000 at 65" size, it this $6000 or $8000 or more?
The press release states that only 55 and 65 will get MLA the MZ2000 in 77 inch not 😢 . Maybe LG has reserved big screen MLA for G series only.
@@klosti Most likely reserved it for their own, which is shitty, but it's their panel so 🤷♂
I see you prefer them large. *DING*
Wish these Panasonics were sold in my country, but good to see MLA improving to hopefully show up in 2024 in C4
What's the problem in today times
Thanks for the insight man and for the upcoming video.
I learn so much from this channel... THANKS!!
Dang. I didn't expect the R&D of OLED to take off like this. I'm guessing the issue is that deuterium is costly and limited for QD-OLEDs. So they're trying to find alternative methods to get better brightness and longevity while keeping the costs down.
Having bought the g2 for my in-laws for christmas i am happy to see that the difference to me is negligible. But lack of brightness in some scenarios was indeed the biggest flaw in the g2 i could make out. curious what will happen in the next 2-3 years
The MLA technology is reminiscent of how a diamond reflects more light outward. It’s a crazy technology when you think of the number of lenses per pixel.
so cool you got the opportunity to do this!
Just when I was getting into OLED, Panasonic pulled out of the Australian market.
I'm thrilled they are working on brightness but I'd consider motion improvement nearly as important. LG and Samsung have a ways to go to catch up to Sony IMHO. I realize many people don't notice motion quality even when trying to see it but for some of us it is extremely important.
what do you mean by motion.. if your talking about motion interpolation then that is just shitty processing people use to make things appear smoother and it creates fake frames. I cant stand it.
Panasonic is very good if you dial in the settings right.
@@trignite I'm talking about anything that helps the transition of movement on a a screen - black frame insertion, soap opera effect, refresh rate, pixel transition rate, ghosting, stutter - etc. Sony does it pretty well. LG and Samsung still look like a badly filmed rave party.
@@trignite I agree with you. A good monitor should be garbage in and garbage out. Any compensation is redundant and over-adjusted.
@@robertbash380 I've never seen a Panasonic OLED in the US.
7:37 Meaning? Will it will be implemented further down the road or will we have to suffer that bad chipset, introduced in 2021?
That MZ2000 reveal was so hype. Although it doesn't matter to me, Panasonic need to make their TVs more attractive by improving their Home Screen and by bringing back the premium remote.
In my opinion the Home Screen is perfect!
The remote is still much better than others like from LG, Samsung or Sony.
But yes, the "old" aluminium Remote feels better.
And improving the stand aesthetics.. That matters quite a bit to many.
LGs wide stands look great and Sonys "two legs" on the sides.
A small thing but competition is tough

Better have a clean and stable OS than a overloaded and buggy OS...
how did colour luminance compare to your latest QD-OLED measurements?
I'm really interested to see how MLA actually improves viewing angles. I would have though the opposite
Yeah I'm a bit confused on how focusing the light that the pixels produce would increase viewing angle?
@@FrowningTaco
It only is brighter in the sharp angle because overall brightness is up, we don´t know if the picture itself is better or worse...
Glad to know that when im in the market for a new oled it will likely be double the brightness of my current one.
@hdtvtest Even though the MZ2000 doesn’t sport the new Pentonic SoC do you know if at least it has a more modern version (regarding LZ2000 from last year) of the “old” MediaTek chip (maybe including a co-processor as Sony tvs do)??
Peak brightness of LG G3 is 600+ more than Panasonic MZ 2000. But how do the picture quality look side-by-side? LG's TV most likely needs calibration, has less hdr options and maybe not as good sound as Panasonic. I would really like to see a comparison between the two of them for sound, movies and gaming.
I wish to see more english spoken videos about one of (if not) the best oled brand outhere. Like, how is gaming on a Panasonic tv compared to LG? How is the last gen model compared to the next gen model (JZ2k vs LZ2k) for example. How many resolutions do Panasonic tv’s support (480p?) all these obscure details are very hard to find
lovin all the content mah dude
Very interesting! Soinds like I'll get a new TV this year!
Best timed transition over here.
This is why I waited. If we can just get an 83 inch with MLA, I'm all in. Thanks Vincent!
I don’t think the 83 or 97 version are going to be getting the MLA. I read it’s limited to the 55, 65, and 77’s
I'm just wondering if the MLA technology increases risk of burn in
Is possible to switch off the “luminance control logo”? With my GZ1000 I can only set it to “min” and it produces an annoying dimming effect, to me is totally unusable for gaming. On LG oleds you can switch that control off, I hope finally Panasonic let us do the same, or even better would be if they find a way to dim only the zone where the static logo is displayed and not all the screen.
Ok... I get that dark colour under saturation in low light scenes is a problem for QD Oled. However, doesn't WRGB have the problem of flashing in dark scenes due to the white subpixel being slow to transition? So it's more of a pick your poison decision by Panasonic isn't it? Unless this MLA W-Oled solves the flashing in dark scenes which is exascerbated the lower quality the source/bit rate?
Yeah exactly, still the problem of LG panels' uniformity lottery and white overshoot
@@henrywinters9496 Also, I have to imagine the QD-Oled panels are cheaper to buy from Samsung Display than LG Display's MLA
@@FrowningTaco Oh for sure, I mean the S95C trades blows with it in brightness while not even using a heatsink.
Great job Vincent👌🏻
Hear hear 👏🏾👌🏾
So will the new 45gr95qe 240hz MLA OLED will be brighter than LG C2 42? cause on my LG C2 42 in HDR, some scenes with bright highlights like the sun, it looks washed out and not punchy bright. Do you guys think new MLA OLED will fix that?
Hopefully Panasonic put more effort in improving motion this year with BFI...
It should massively reduce burn in effect of oleds if it is used as such advantage to relay brightness on LEDs.
It was a pre-production sample or final product ? Because the black filter has been replaced and the colors in the lit room look washed out compared to the previous model.
You need to compare the new MLA oled to the best of 2022 aka QD-oled (S95B n a95k) please! I believe this is what we have been waiting for!!
Are there any news on Laser Phosphor Displays, Vincent? It's legit the display tech I'm looking forward the most since it's basically a proper CRT successor but it's so hard to find anything on it
isnt that the technology prysm uses? in that case 4k with 300-500nits and 80% dcip doesnt sound enticing at all, even if you ignore the 30" depth, 130" minimal size or weight of 1 ton.
@@TheAntira that just sounds like late triniton CRT's in terms of specs. Maybe a bit mroe colour
@@TheAntira From what I read, their LPDs are basically modular, which means you buy a tile and tile them up to the resolution and size that you want, with a single tile being 15 inches and having the resolution of 320x240.
I believe this is going to be the ultimate display technology for monitors, they are basically just crts on steroids, which means they have no input lag, no native resolution and the rest of the pluses without the downsides, hence why I'm looking so forward to it
Hats off to Panasonic still class leaders in picture performance 👏
oh i think it comes with pentonic 1000, shame . but panasonic did a good job to pushed out of limit of the limiation proc.
Awesome stuff, but I can't believe the need to jump through hoops to be ready for CES (whether they're there or not) meant not using the new mediatek chipset. 😞
I miss Panasonic in the U.S. They stopped selling a lot of products over here for some reason.
To my knowledge Philips' OLED+986 and OLED+936 used MLA in 2021 already but they've dropped it in favor of a heat sink in 2022
The MZ2000 looks fantastic. Any idea what sizes it will come in? Hope you enjoyed your time visiting Osaka

It's just funny to me after years of telling us OLED was bright enough, when we all knew that wasn't true, now it's look, our panels are brighter.
And?
Great Vincent. Now test microled please 🙂
I'm so excited to see this new 1500 nits tv vs samsungs new qd-oleds 1300 nits tv in terms of color luminance, motion etc. 🥰
HDTVtest, the new MLA technology brightness will also apply for Game Mode? or it will only be available for movies?
MLA is glass bits in the front of TV screen. You don´t take of those glass bits when gaming.
Cheers Vincent.
I got a question not related to this video.
Why should i use a warm color temperatur, is it the most overall accurat?
Cause if I use a warm setting the white isnt white anymore, it redish/yellowish.
Are there setting to make white white again and keep a warm setting?
Maybe you can make a short video about it.
Yes the warmer colour temperature is more accurate as it’s closer to “D65 white point”.
D65 is used extensively in industries that require a simulation of natural daylight, such as digital art, film, photography, etc
Peak brightness is not ewriting, is the black level the same under all lighting conditions ?
500 nits increase..Damn.. That is impressive!
8:03 does this apply for 2023 QD-OLED, I didn't see it mentioned in your other videos.
Also 7:46, why is that?
How would you compare Panasonic's models to the A95L?
I just bought the Surfshark VPN, went to install it and find out my LG OLED doesn’t support VPN neither does my TalkTalk router .. great! 👍😆
Across the pond we just get to watch the spectacle but are unable to buy. Thanks!
Every time I think I'm going to buy a new Tv and get ready for Prices to drop, the next years TV tech is so much better.
At least I hoping for a true successor of the LZ2000 in 77 inch is pretty much disappointed. No MLA (only for 55/65) and still old Mediathek. I guess getting a good deal for the 2022 LZ series is probably best choice. But at least in 77 I can’t see Panasonic competing with the 2023 models like a S95c, G3 or potentially a Sony / Philips on a second gen QD OLED. Especially looking at the premium price the 77 inch model will have a tough year this time. Again that’s for 77 in 65 the world looks slightly different.
I actually don't care as much about peak brightness than I do about APL. So this is very good news just for that reason
ABL?

Leap year for OLED tech this year. May have to upgrade.
Watching online OLED cultists scratching their heads and struggling to explain why every OLED manufacturer is racing to pump out more nits and why reviewers are impressed, when "its infinite contrast bro, u dont need more than 69 nits because its infinite contrast dude" is kind of satisfying, got to admit.
Weren't the TV pictures swapped by error ? The left picture (must be OLED 2022) looks brighter in every scenario.
What about per colour brightness measurements ? Red , Green , Blue , Cyan , Magenta and Yellow ? Not showing it means QD-OLED beats it by default
Its not that important, you barely will see it in normal content
*WHEN those MLA OLED panels will appear in displays?*
I want a 36" monitor with it.
I realize I'm complaining about a "first-world problem", but I keep wishing that Panasonic would start selling their TVs in the United States again. Value Electronics was able to offer a small number of Panasonic TVs for sale from their store in New York last year, so maybe I'll get lucky someday and purchase one of those rare models. They're almost as scarce as unicorns on this side of the planet.
Will this be enough to bump QD OLED down a few pegs?
When my panel (B9) was exchanged at the end of the 2 year period, i saw that the new panel was way brighter.
With time i feel that the oled panel starts to give out.
So this is good news if they are the upping luminance , so the panel keeps better brightness for long.
At least is what i think. What are your toughts about this?
OLED brightness does go down gradually over time but you shouldn't see much difference with a TV from 2019. You may have received a panel replacement using one of the newer Evo/EX panels which are a bit brighter.
Haven’t noticed any brightness degradation on my c8 with 16,379 hours on it
That is correct. Small OLED emitters, especially blue ones, tend to lose brightness a lot quicker than equivalent LED emitters.
@@brokenwrench404 I got C7, is there a way to just go in the menu and click something to see how many hours watched?
It's in the service menu but there is a risk of voiding the warranty.

Really great TV and definitely a contender for TV of the year but the OS makes it unusable without a streamer connected 😕
Yea that Interface is the ugliest thing I've ever seen. And why does it only run at 30 fps?
All TVs should purposefully bust their damn software and just accept input and display it perfectly.
Devices like the Apple TV should do upscaling and processing.
@@stevenswall eh they should just allow users to program or install their own software. I enjoy not having to waste money on streaming boxes
How’s that compared to Samsung’s 2023 QD OLEDs?
But Vincent, why would i want to melt my eyeballs in their sockets when my C2 OLED is bright enough already?
No problem, just wear a welding mask!
wondering the same lol. I have a old and crappy LG B9 and sometimes at night I reduce luminance when too tired as it hurts my eyes in SDR...
More accurate hdr
Go outside for once and you'll realize how dim your C2 is lol.
yeah i thought at first "hey, brightness is getting significantly better, maybe i'll upgrade in a couple years". then i remembered i use my tv at 20% brightness most of the time. i have very little interest in peak brightness, but average picture level could be a little better. this still isn't there yet. also i'll only upgrade if either my lg c1 goes bad, or if it's 4 years old and there's something that supports 240hz+ in 4k. for now theres no reason
The new mz2000 in 77 inch have the MLA technology?
I have a solution for the ideal OLED HDR image: They need to make a 850" TV so we can just watch the center 85" with full brightness. 🙂
Hahaha.
Haha you lunatic, I like the way you think :D
HELLO HDTV TEST ! ! ! Well I think you'll need to make their own new OLED TV settings for PS5, cause now they're gonna make 70% more brightness than C1.
