  • I didn't need one, but why should that be a reason for not getting it?
    Original Missouri farm truck that will be my other daily driver. Plan is for stock appearing one piece steel wheels, doll up the interior, rocker/cab corners and top it off with a Tremec TKX 2.87 1st and 0.68 5th. That paired with the 4.56 rear end and powered by the bulletproof 250 inline 6 should make a pretty good going to town truck slash hauler. Stay tuned!
    Also found a 80's Honda BIG RED! Once running I'm toying with the idea of a channel giveaway. Could depend on how this thing turns out? Regardless will come up with an alternate giveaway if not the BIG RED.

    Beautiful ol pickup! Yes, I have several c20 pickups and all I use are 235/85R16. Because when they get wore out, I put em on my stock trailers and get all the use out of them.

      I think she has alot of life left in her. I thought the manifold was going to be a quick repair and started it in the yard. The parts are on the way and when that is finished I'm moving it to a building to finish the project, so I hope you stick around. Thanks for the comment!

    This seventy near three year old man owned many of them... got home from nam and really just didn't have the money for fancy... cut timber for a living so just needed back and forth. I got mine (the first one) in those many used truck places on the side of the road, had my eye on better, my back pocket spoke for me. Lots of things were actually nice but those coil spring tail ends just didn't stay even close by. I scattered pieces an parts of them on the road when bringing home fire wood. Upper cascade mountains of washington state, no one like us soldiers so hard for credit, paid down seven hundred with two payments of a hundred and seventy dollars. I found another one from a local guy later with less miles an he took a good rifle an a small boat I had for it... about seven hundred or so in value. I wanted a V8 an all the six cylinder engines in the world wouldn't make me a bit happy, so after a bit of struggling, pulled the front fenders off of it and swapped a ford 292 V8 with a farm four speed out of a old pickup sat under a tree too long. I used all its running gear including the rear end as they were both 3/4 ton. I had the motor in it in a good half day, along with the transmission. Once everything was tidy an running so dang good, I built my exhaust for it.. dual straight pipes of course.. cop callers. I used all those heavy spring components under it, that was the best thing ever. It was also geared a little low so figured time is on my side. My rims didn't fit as the hole for the center was a hair small and found a neighbor with a rig on blocks he never did nothing with so traded two cords of wood for his rig as it had the wheels needed an my tires went on them. I wore rigging clothes an seat covers were the first to die violently. I found a 59 chevy panel truck that had the two different seats, a small one for the driver an a long middle seat... found a caddy in the wrecking yard an bought the back seat out of it... all nice leather. I took the original seat apart, used the old cover for a pattern and cut those leather seats to the exact pattern an used the wifes sewing machine to stitch it together an made a seat for a king. Put it back in so everything was right again. I later did get a 3.73 rear end that bolted in, just kept cutting driveshafts to fit stuff together as needed. With over three hundred thousand on the speedo, I took the Y block out an was going to put back a chevy engine but found a FE 390 in a truck so in it went... I sold that truck running really good in 1980 for two thousand dollars with over a half million miles on it... I did take excellent care of it and had all the original running gear for it to be swapped back. That man who bought it from me loved the truck as I had built it... the mileage meter worked but the speed indicator had been twisted off for years, I just didn't have the heart to pull it an kept records on this rig for everything did or maintained. He just laughed so hard when he saw the real miles. In all the whipping on that truck, you would be pressed hard to find a ding in it as I fixed any it got when it happened. I got to where I liked the rig that was my too poor to buy what I wanted. I had only altered one thing on the grill, it was ford running gear so found a blue oval and glued it to the insignia over the chevy one. Had people ask me where I got this unusual looking ford/LOL... by the way, them cadillac seat covers were bright polished from my butt sliding around but not one tare in them. Old lincoln or cadillac cars have the finest upholstery for doing seat covers out of them to fit over a seat if you take the time to do it right.. sewn with the best thread I could find an evidently I must of.... I did like and new sub

    The truck has a SM420 transmission, which 67 was the only year it was available in those trucks. In 68 it was replaced by the SM465 which GM used until 91. They're both great transmissions

    My dad had a 67 I loved that truck. It was a c10 327 373 geared rear end with a 3-speed on the column. It would pull almost anything and run a hole in the wind. No side marker lights and that small back glass and the hoods were so clean made them look better than the other years of it's time plus they were so easy to work on and dependable.

    Nice video, new subscriber here. You did a good job reviewing this old sweetheart of a truck. I have a 67’ Chevy window van , a mint 1964 Ford Falcon Ranchero ( just 7,200 miles on I). My daily driver dump truck is a 1972 Ford F-350 with 20,250 miles on it. I also have a beautiful 1988 Ford 350 van converted new to 4x4 by Quigley. My everyday pickups are a 92’ and 96 Chevy and a 2003 Ford F-150. I have a general contracting construction business and have always used old ‘paid for’ trucks! Gary in eastern Michigan.

      Thanks for the comment! It sounds like you have a fleet of vehicles. The Ranchero and the Chevy Van sound like two sweet rides! The style and simplicity of the 60's cars and trucks were heard to beat in my mind. I'm not much for public speaking or talking on camera, but I'm working on that. Many thanks for the sub and I hope you check out future videos! Eric

    That’s a great truck. I’m glad you bought it and look forward to seeing your repair work . I would keep it as close to original as possible, but keep him on the road and driving daily. I would have thought that engine would be a 292 in a 3/4 ton . American Iron all the Way . Thanks for the video.

    Just subscribed. We are in NE Arkansas and have quite a number of the older chevy trucks. We have a white 67 -3/4 ton.good body engine had busted block. it has the 456 gears. We have a 71 -1/2 ton frame with rear leaf springs and 5 lug wheels and 342 gears. andits a factory granny 4 speed to boot. Im thinking the 67 body needs to be on the later frame.

      I have to agree. The only area that doesn't have damage of some kind is the hood. The bed is structurally sound, but it appears to have had a run in with a front end loader a time or two. The plus side is it would make the perfect work truck/daily driver. I hope you stay tuned!

      @smalltownlivin1828  Рік тому +2

      I actually bought it originally to use as a work truck. So, for me the 8 ft bed was a plus. I like the looks of the short bed, but these trucks ride like a wagon and a short bed only makes it worse.

      I learned to drive in one of these myself, out in a pasture. No power steering on that one, either. I'll have to watch any follow-up videos you have on this. My dad went with more modern rims to replace the split rims his came with, just some 16 inch ones I can't remember the exact size of. It was a more common one, but still pretty expensive to replace when it came time to, unfortunately.

      @@captainexcabier The exact same situation. I drove seems like a 1000 miles around a small pasture when young and could barely see over the steering wheel. Then used it for hauling when I got my drivers license. I miss that old truck. Lots of memories!
