  • In today's episode Sean takes you along the journey he's been through while restoring his classic Chevrolet pickup! He had been wanting to make this video for a while now. Unfortunately, Sean was forced to slow video production due to a time crunch. Preparing the truck for the paint shop was no joke!! Now that everything is done and the truck is off to the paint shop, he finally had time to makes this video. We hope you enjoy the video and maybe find some inspiration for your project truck!

    I like the two tone as well, i think green will look great. I have seen a few of these chevys with brushed metal bumpers and grills instead of chrome that I think would look really good. Or even just paint em white to match the top of the cab

      I'm glad to hear other people like the two tone! I'm honestly going to leave the bumpers chrome. I'm thinking about just having the chrome restored.

    I love what you’re doing. You can tell the love you have for this truck by the emotion in your face when you talk about it. I’m gathering parts right now to restore my 1965 Chevy K10 (4x4) I am wondering how the new doors fit and the gauge of the metal? Are you overall happy with them? Thanks

    • @TheBrothersWorkshop
      @TheBrothersWorkshop  Рік тому +2

      Hey Mike! I appreciate your kind words. This project has been a blessing. Sometimes I get frustrated with it, but overall I'm very lucky to have the opportunity to work on it. As for the doors, I like them. They don't seem as think as the original doors, but they fit well. Now that the truck has been painted, I can't even tell they are after market. I've linked the playlist of videos below 👇 (including the door installation): ua-cam.com/play/PLnPXcXYmgiuvenpreTdIqjiF46CLds1V_.html

    Recently just got myself a 63 C20, bit different because i'm in the UK. I don't like the pretty trucks, the low as F trucks, the barbie doll show trucks. I like a workhorse truck, rough around the edges, but not rotten. My truck so far I've seen paint from yellow, red, bogey green and now it's gunmetal with a dab of purple in it with a two tone white cab. I love it. Brilliant video mate. Any hints how you ground to bare metal on the chassis under the cab? Did you remove the cab at all or ground it down in situ? Cheers mate!

    • @TheBrothersWorkshop
      @TheBrothersWorkshop  6 місяців тому +1

      Hey Tom! Thanks for watching the video, it means a lot. I agree with you, I love a good work horse. Work trucks tell a story, and can still be used for their intended purpose. I didn't grind down under the cab because I couldn't find replacements cab mounds for a 3/4 ton truck. All of the replacements I have found are for 1/2 ton trucks. I did the best I could, and if I ever find new cab mounts I'll remove the cab and do it correctly.

    Awesome truck!! You’re doing a very good job! I’m actually restoring a 66 C20 also. It currently has a flatbed and a rattle can paint job. Plan is to re-paint it with the two tone scheme with Saddle Brown and White. I’ve been searching high and low for a pair of those jr. west coast mirrors in white. Do you have any interest in selling the ones that came on your truck? Looking forward to seeing the new paint job!

      Hey!! Thanks for watching the video. I appreciate the kind words. Sounds like your truck is really cool. I've been looking for the identical mirrors in chrome but haven't found them yet. If I do, I'll keep you posted on selling the white ones I currently have.

      @@TheBrothersWorkshop Right on man! That would be awesome. These trucks are so fun to work on and I love the simplicity of them, especially the 292 straight 6. Thank you for making the very well done videos on your truck! Most folks on here are just re-hashing the same C-10 recipe with airbags and turning them into something unusable. The all original trucks are so much more interesting to me.

    • @TheBrothersWorkshop
      @TheBrothersWorkshop  2 роки тому +1

      No problem at all. I really love making videos and I strive to make them as high quality as possible. I have to agree with you about the usability of these trucks. I am way more into the utilitarian aspect of these old trucks.

    I have a very similar K-20 Blue. 17k original miles. Been painted blue over original blue but not a “good” paint job so it needs paint to be nicer but I’m not going to paint at this time. Too much cash. Drive it. Did replace master cylinder and all wheel cylinders because it’s got to stop reliably….went to vacuum boosted two chamber vs single with no boost. Replaced ALL fluids even rear axel and pumpkin.

    I'm trying to figure out why...if it is a '66... that it has '64 fender emblems.

    • @TheBrothersWorkshop
      @TheBrothersWorkshop  Місяць тому

      They are 66 emblems.

    • @willhorting5317
      @willhorting5317 Місяць тому

      @@TheBrothersWorkshop sir, sorry. Maybe I missed something in your video.
      But I guarantee you, that the picture (or video shot) that you are using for the video thumbnail, clearly shows a "bowtie" on the top of the emblems.
      That makes the emblems... not the truck... just the emblems, from a 1964.
      I apologize for disagreeing with you.
      However, a simple online search
      (or in my case, being a senior citizen who grew up with these trucks), would tell you that they are from a '64.
