    After watching a few of these videos I have to wonder; why didn't they just build the tanks so they fit the trucks? Here's our tank kit. It doesn't fit but you can alter your truck enough to make it work.

      It's because these are blazer gas tanks that just sort of work in the pickups. There are a couple of companies that sell custom fitted tanks that don't hang down near as low and don't require cutting the bed(except for where you decide to place the fill hole)

      Yep, 52 years and no broadside collision here, either.
      No smell of fuel, and 72 has heat expansion tube.
      But gas cap- locking is only offered in plastic, now.

    The only thing I would change is that brass float they always fill with gas. I've had to replace it 3 times in the last 2 years, I finally found a life cell float on summit thats solid all the way through.

    Compromised the frame for looks should had at least reinforced the cutout. For DIY tank relocation shouldn’t have to remove the bed if that filler was designed slightly away made this project more daunting.

      @CJClassicTrucks  Рік тому +2

      The small cut in the frame for the filler neck is not going to compromise the frame by any means. A lot of people do it the exact same way & don't reinforce the frame rail. Also even if the filler was designed differently you'd still remove the bed because you have to cut out part of the bed sill out. Could you do all that with the bed on? Possibly but who would want to do that, its making the job harder for no reason.

    What size fuel line did you use and where did you get the caps to block off vent and return lines and what vent breather did you use Also what size fuel neck hose and gas cap yours is the only video I’ve seen installing the fuel line and breather I have a 1965 C10 so don’t think I need the return line and one vent line

      I bought the caps at a local parts store, they usually come with a couple different sizes & are pretty cheap. As far as the breather goes, we have those in stock on our website.
      As far as the fuel neck goes there’s another video on our channel showing you what hose & gas cap i use. Everything that I used for that is on our website as well too!

    I just bought one of these. Where did you put your return fuel line? Did you use the vent tube next to the sending unit?

    • @CJClassicTrucks
      @CJClassicTrucks  Рік тому +1

      Our truck has a carburetor so we didn't have to put in a return line

      @CJ Classic Trucks Oh okay, I am running a 5.3L LS swap. I believe I should be able to use the vent tube next to the sending unit.

    Can you not run flex pipe or whatever and use existing fuel area in cab. I would like to keep that look and have it functional not just for looks?

    • @CJClassicTrucks
      @CJClassicTrucks  Рік тому

      I don't think that would work out well, after you relocate the tank its pretty far back so you'd have to run a super long flex pipe into the cab and also cut another hole in the cab to be able to route it back in the factory spot.

      @CJClassicTrucks  7 місяців тому

      I was worried about it sitting low too. Our truck is lowered a good bit and it's actually not to bad, we have some pretty bad roads around here and I have no issues with it.

    For a professional company, I'm not impressed. Im not seeing any professional results on this tank install. Here is why I had said this.
    For the fuel line, i will not use a rubber fuel line for long runs. Rubber fuel lines shouldn't be longer than six inches max for joints. Avoid using zip ties to secure your fuel line. They can become brittle over time. Use conduit or tubing clips instead to secure your hardlines.
    At the fuel inlet, instead of cutting into the franerail, just simply heat and bend, or pound the frame lip down. It's better to have displaced metal for strength than it is to have metal removed.
    If at all possible, run your sending unit wire (and fuel pump wiring if using an electric fuel pump) inside the factory or new wire loom.
    Other than that, this is a good fuel tank conversion. I have this conversion for my '68 C10 using this same tank from your company.
