    Amusing to think in the old Legends continuity, Maul woulda been considered an Acolyte. Palps at least indulged him by making him a Darth.

    In terms of Basil, after a rewatch of the show, it seemed like another case of a character not having all the context. I don't think he saw the fight on Kofar (I could be mistaken). So all he knows is that something went wrong, but not what happened. He could tell something was off with Mae (when she posed as Osha,) but he doesn't have anyone to translate for him after Yord's death. And then Sol all of a sudden stuns Mae. And then he later chases her through the rings. He doesn't seem to know much about what's going on, and he sees a Jedi acting very un-Jedi like. My thoughts on this aren't super organized but that's the type of stuff that came to mind on the rewatch.

    • @jeddiewan3286
      @jeddiewan3286 2 місяці тому +5

      Yeah I think it's one of those things we don't necessarily need to know. There's a lot if context missing, taking into account his species, what he knows, and probably tons of other things I can't think of.
      It's like when in 1977 we heard about the Clone Wars. We didn't know anything about it besides it obviously being an important event that defined some of these characters we were learning about.
      I'm fine with it.

    • @djorankeil
      @djorankeil 2 місяці тому +3

      That and what Sol was doing was borderline suicidal. Crashing through a planetary ring is not good for the health and safety of the ship and its occupants. Since he couldn't fight a Jedi and Sol didn't know Tynnan, sabotaging the ship was actually a pretty reasonable and sane option.

    • @ShayanGivehchian
      @ShayanGivehchian 2 місяці тому +1

      Or maybe they just used it to further the story and plot without much logic

    • @Cineburk
      @Cineburk 2 місяці тому +1

      The more important question is what Sol was trying to do to Mae's ship? If he was going to kill her, that's a major change in character motivations from when he had just said that having both Mae and Osha alive was key to proving the force vergence. Going from "I need both you alive" to "I'm going to kill you..." is pretty drastic. I think it's more likely he's trying to recapture her ship with some sort of tractor beam; look how close he gets to her ship.
      Might have been good to actually tell the audience what is going on when a character has a major change in motivation.

    Hi, Alex! A symbiote is a biological life form that lives on another life form. Since midichlorians live in beings, they can be classified as symbiotes. Since the actual genetic material of the symbiote is different than that of their host, even twins shouldn’t have the same number of symbiotes. That would be as odd as twins having the same number of colonies of staph on their skin.

    Ki-Adi Mundi never explicitly learns of the Sith, but he does learn of a dark side user who was trained by another, much more adept dark side user. He may be overconfident and arrogant, but he is also intelligent enough to become a master on the high council. I am not convinced that in the decades he had to investigate and wonder about this dark side user that he never once considered that it may be Sith. His outright refusal to believe the Sith have returned makes little sense when he, in his own lifetime, learns of a powerful dark side user who's identity remains a mystery. With the Acolyte's inclusion of him learning about the existence of Qimir, although not explicit, does make him one of few Jedi who should be curious and sceptical about the return of the Sith, which makes little sense when he is the main Jedi on the high council who outright denies Qui-Gon's claim and implies he finds it ridiculous and unrealistic. He of all people on that council should be the most sceptical given his knowledge of Mae and her mysterious master. His role in The Acolyte could have been filled by any nameless Jedi grunt, so the fact that it was him that found out still feels incredibly careless no matter how hard you try to defend it. End of the day, it was sloppy to include him in this investigation.
    Just a little side note, I don't care when he was born, that's not the issue.

    • @jonathanporter7601
      @jonathanporter7601 2 місяці тому +4

      Yes, that part doesn't make sense, but it's also hard to make sense from the perspective that the Sith are not just people but a philosophy. For example, all the adherents of a particular religion could die, but anyone can pick up the mantle at any time if they find a copy of the sacred text of the religion. (In the case of the Star Wars Universe, to truly pick up the mantle, the person would have to be a force user, but that's just a question of probabilities - it's going to happen at some point. And in some stories, just touching a Sith relic can influence someone towards the dark side.) One might even see the various witches as embodying some of the beliefs of the Sith.

Hell you can go as early as the Malevolence episodes to see what I mean. Even tho in space ships and objects should keep there top speeds until they make contact with something, hell they even accelerate. Another is how literally ALL OF THE SHIPS are terribly designed for space travel. Not a SINGLE Star Wars ship is good for REAL space travel. Fire could technically exist in space if there was an oxygen leak, fuel leak and ignition source where the fire was. I doubt it could be as big as the fire shown in The Acolyte, hell I know for a fact it could never be like the fire shown in the show, but while I don't like the show, I will defend that if that fire was over a pipe from the life support system and the fuel lines, it could potentially have provided the oxygen and fuel required to start a small fire. When I say small, I mean very small. This fire could only exist under very specific conditions of a major oxygen and fuel leak next to an ignition source like a sparking wire. Since it's a vacuum, the mixture of fuel and oxygen would dissipate rapidly, so this flame could only exist right at the source where the pressure of oxygen and fuel can mimic the pressure of an atmospheric condition. This leak would need to be major, as to have a concentration that high in the vacuum of space, the ship would need to be losing a lot of oxygen and fuel. The flame would be very small but also very violent as it is rapidly dissipating into the vacuum. The fire displayed in The Acolyte could potentially exist but it would not look like a flame we see on earth, the licks would be faster and more spherical. This could possibly explain the explosions in space if fuel lines and oxygen supplies mixed rapidly upon the destruction of a ship, but still they wouldn't look the way they did in the movies and the fire on the ship in The Acolyte would never look the way it did. Obviously it's star wars and we need to take the physics with a grain of salt, but for those interested in the physics of it, those are the conditions required and the flame you could expect.

He is taking May to this planet and apparently needs her to prove the Vergeance (so) of the force. Then she escapes and he is about to shoot her down??? And Bazil, who has no love for her and was fighting against her in previous scenes, wrecks the ship and endangers them all in the process? It’s just a weird, weird sequence. I guess you can say it just shows that Sol is a nutjob who is under the sway of really violent and unpredictable emotions, but I don’t think that’s very satisfying as an explanation either.

      @@zerolegacy7821 Well, the characterization of Sol is kind of confusing. Much has been said already about how the Jedi in this series are morally compromised, and Sol is stuck in the middle of that moral fog. It was his impulsiveness that contributed so much to the destruction of the witches and the resulting mess, and May's revenge plot, etc. Yet the actor (I forgot his name) makes the character so likable--he is probably the most likable character in the show, for me.
      The way that the sequence is set up, he has that targeting reticle which reminded me of any number of sequences where similar reticles are used to blast spaceships out of the sky. We have the fact that Bazil apparently thinks Sol is up to no good and so wrecks the whole ship. The way the sequence is staged makes it seem as if Sol is trying to kill May, and the show ends with the Jedi coming across as pretty nasty and corrupt. Yet... it also feels ambiguous.
      To me at least, from the way the sequence plays out, it doesn't seem as if Sol is trying to just stun/disable the runaway ship. But perhaps there is some wiggle room for that interpretation. I appreciate your question.

      Anakin was the only one who came into the star wars universe through a virgin birth. There was no father, he was fathered by the force.
      That makes him special, very special. That makes him unique.
      The acolyte copied this concept and created a very confusing person (or 2 persons acctually). If someone else is created by the force then Anakin is not that special after all. It's a preety big deal lorewise.
      It's like making a product for christians and making a copy of Jesus. The target audience would probably be outraged.
      It's a shame because the star wars universe is full of possibilities for endless original stories. What Disney seems to be doing is copying George Lucas' ideas because they can't seem to come up with original ideas of their own. And they are breaking the lore in the process. Star wars fans are upset about this and rightfully so, but that doesn't really matter. The Acolyte is created for 'new' star wars fans, not the toxic traditional ones after all.

    I have guesses for why some questions were not answered. The twins were created with the help of Plagueis, who was there during the fire. Hence the need to keep it secret from the Jedi...being a witch is one thing, but working with a real live Sith to create life...yeah, not gonna fly. Once everything hits the fan, it's Plagueis who destroys the entire fortress, to eliminate the witches. In his eyes, they will not be able any longer to train the twins, so have no further use to him. It's why he's secretly following his apprentice's work in training Mae and later Osha. I'll bet we get even more flashback episodes in Season Two, possible from Plagueis's view, or more likely, from Qimir's. Qimir himself will be every bit as much a victim of Plagueis too.
    It's one possible explanation for several hints and lines and scenes that were not paid off this season. Too many carefully and deliberately placed clues were not addressed. If there's a Season 2 it will be a continuation of this arc, not fresh adventures.

    I am pretty sure the symbiote is refering to midichlorians living within the person, using the real world meaning. And so Osha and Mae have the same midichlorians, or something.

    I want to know 2 things. Why wasn't Tasi Lowa used again, and what is Qimir's Darth name? Would love to know those answers.

      No different than auto magazines and web sites. Write nice things on a platform that is big enough you get early access to say new Porsches in Portugal in February on the F1 track there. Or the wine country in California. A lot of auto "Journalists" don't own cars. They get "Review" vehicles that they use for days up to months. Many times delivered to their front door.
      The auto makers will let you diss a previous model if it's being replaced. "The previous 911 while a sublime ride was not without it's issues...." When the same writer at the time praised the previous 911.
      Access is everything. Even if not explicitly demanded a certain point of view is expected.

    I still don't like bleeding crystal scene. It was super shortcut version of something that should be very important, and it looked kinda cheesy. If they really wanted to show it, they could have waited until the last scene. Rite of passage scene would be so much better than holding hands...

    “Fire in space”
    What do you think the sun is?

      The sun undergoes nuclear fusion where hydrogen gets changed to helium under high temperatures and pressures. The result of this nuclear reaction is the release of a lot of energy. And, unlike the burning log, nuclear fusion does not require oxygen. Therefore, the sun is not on fire. Google is such a beautiful thing you should try it sometimes!

      A giant nuclear fusion reaction being held together by its own gravity. How does that relate to the fire depicted in Ep1? Are you saying you think the sun burns on oxygen, or that Osha's ship was experiencing a nuclear fusion reaction?

    6:45 Worst case scenario, this is just writers forgetting not every alien in Star Wars lives 300+ years like Wookies and hutts. (And whatever Yoga and Grogu are) Funniest case scenario, that wasn't REALLY Mundi, but a member of his family with the same name and every time someone from that extended family names their kid "Ki" they end up being a Jedi.

    Having Omni power witch covenant producing offspring the are force sensitive like Anakin and to have the Jedi order oppressively take them is lore breaking.
