Andor Season One - 135 Easter Eggs
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лют 2025
- Despite being lighter on easter eggs, cameos, and the usual references Star Wars movies and series have become known for, I still found over one hundred in the first season of Andor, and there were some deep cuts in there! Here is everything I picked out.

Crazy how this show was genuine good all the way while still having fun Easter eggs. I never understand that “criticism” if you can even call it that.
Because it is not really criticism most of the time, just some unripe minds crying.
It’s not really references that draw criticism. It’s characters we’ve seen before appearing again and again without a whole lot of logical reasoning. With the Star Wars universe being so big, outside of the main story we shouldn’t be getting things that don’t really make sense.

Easter Eggs work best when not drawing attention to itself.
If you have a compelling story then the easter eggs and cameos won't be so jarring. Remember, they introduced moff gideon to us by having him go on a rant about e-web cannon and how it was used to wipe out some tribe etc etc only to end his diatribe with I'll be back to finish all of you off after dark? lol
This show is so good on so many levels. I hope the Emmys finally agree.
Finally? This is a new show.
@@barryallen871 no kidding. I'm talking about the other shows they've missed.
@@ScoDiddley Well, it's the first Star Wars show that really deserves consideration.
Shows like Mando, Clone Wars and Rebels were fun and all, don't get me wrong, but Andor is the first one with genuinely powerful acting, and actors of Stellan Skarsgard and Andy Serkis' caliber.
Mando was nominated for best drama one year I think. If that sets bar for how good a SW show needs to be for Emmy nomination then I would think that Andor is a sure thing. That said, the Emmys always screws up.
@@nlptrckshmn5535 Was it, now? Hadn't heard about that. Good on 'em.
Ultimately it doesn't matter though, because you're right about the Emmys. Like the Oscars, it's more of an industry circle-jerk than anything else. It's more about favoritism and virtue-signaling than the actual quality of the productions, actors and crews nominated.
What I appreciate about these Easter Eggs is that they may not all be intended by the showrunners/writers. Tony Gilroy has said in multiple interviews that his art department puts things in scenes that he’s not aware of and Pablo Hidalgo has input. But story comes first rather than canon (although Season 2 will necessarily set up Rogue One). Oddly enough, and to our delight and surprise, setting aside reverence to SW lore has resulted in the most compelling storytelling in the whole franchise. I’m in awe of what they’ve all created and can’t wait for Season 2.
Why setting aside reverence to the lore results in less continuity errors than supposedly shows that were made by "fans"? Also I wouldn't say Kenobi had reverence for the lore, because they tried to make them fight between two movies.
@@АлексейМомот-щ7о This is the most coherent piece in the whole SW franchise. Even the original trilogy couldn't decide if the main characters were lovers or siblings.
Perfectly said!
@@badideabearcub2747 or if Leia was british or not, or who Han works for, etc.
what a trip this show has been, emotion, tension, spectacular speeches, visually great, perfect? no, excellent? completely
One of the Quad Jumper aliens was Controlled and voiced by Mike Quinn who was the man in the suit for Nien Nunb For all films. It was his first voice over role in star wars
I loved all the references to The Force Unleashed, The Old Republic games, and the Sequel Trilogy. I didn't notice the Luggabeast and the giant Cyborg scrapper from Jakku were there till now. I also liked the Canto Bight Protocol Droids on Coruscant, it's a great design that shows droids without a 'face' to restrict their sentience. Also, Luthen's shop is awesome. I like that he has is Exar Kun's Dark Holocron, and Starkiller's armor, which I like to think was intended to be purchased by the Emperor before Starkiller's sacrifice in The Force Unleashed.
I disagree a lot. The Luggabeast was a very hairstreching choice to make, because this creature is only native to Jakku and not some other world somewhere. It's like seeing Orang-Utans in the middle of Paris. And Casino-droids on a spaceport don't make much sense either.
I am so thankful for how great this show was and I am so thankful for Star Wars explained.
Andor has definitely been a fantastic series. It definitely one of a kind.!
In the scene with the Death Star, the droids working on it resemble Separatist Buzz droids
I loved this show so much. I can’t wait for season 2!
I think I havent been this excited for a second season since the mandalorian
I hope we see the murder ball roll over some rebels in s2
@@LearnedSophistry i wanna see them rebels get slaughtered
God the world building of this show is amazing
Oh no, you missed the Aztec calendar in Luthen's shop! I'm so sad! It even appears in this video. It's the stone tablet with markings that appears when Kleya and Vel are arguing.
Man you are like a treasure trove on everything Star Wars! I mean we knew that already but that knowledge bank is so clearly highlighting itself in this amaaazing Andor dig! With so many of these small details clearly laid out, no one can still hold the argument that there was no "fan service". This series is living and breathing Star Wars and one of the best of it yet!
One of the two big aliens that briefly capture Cassian and Melshi by the quad jumper reminds me of the aliens experimented on by the Techno Union at the end of the Clone Wars micro series.
I had that thought too! Especially with the missing hand.
THANK YOU.
Its the first thing I thought of when watching that episode.
This is the first SW series where I actually rewatched the episodes right away. I've probably viewed the funeral sequence in episode 12 a dozen times.
6:30 The round light next to Cassian is a 'Kitchen-aid' egg cutter, I have one! It for slicing eggs for salads and stuff.
So glad the low flying TIE fighter was mentioned, I immideatly thought of Lost Stars. Taking inspiration from the best
Fan service is Jabba concept art being used as a gag in a cheesy cliche slow-speed chase.
What Andor does is populates the galaxy with some recognizable elements to provide true immersion for the viewer and delight for the Star Wars nerd.
Started watching you guys when Andor started. I love your channel and all the hard work you put into your videos. Your insights are great. Thanks to you both for all you do, and keep up the good work!
I’m the same age as the Star Wars franchise and have been a fan since I was a small child. In my opinion, Andor is the best content since the original trilogy
Same and also 7/21/77 it's in my blood.
I actually Iike it more than the original trilogy. It is wey less cheesy
I love this breakdown! I don’t know if it’s an option, but it would be helpful to put more arrows. I appreciate the information, but when there is more than one item or person, I can’t tell which you’re referring to.
Favorite Easter egg is the crystal. That moment Luthien talks about the Rakata invaders gave Star Wars a sense of long standing history that only the prequels attempted to do.
It's a very appreciated detail.
What a great thanksgiving getting an Easter egg video and deviled eggs later 😂
The planet canari being mined like “canary in the coal mine”
The poison/toxic contamination also turned the victims yellow… just to make the reference stronger, no?
I could be wrong, but I feel like when Maarva mentions "the darkness" that's grown as she's slept, there is a a glitch in her hologram. The glitch sound and timing felt like a Darth Sideous hologram moment. The captions even highlight the glitch.
There are some clawed gauntlets in Luthen's shop that look very similar to those most recently seen being worn by the Raxus Secundus guards in Episode 3 of Tales of the Jedi and perhaps other appearances that I've long since forgotten.
At 20:09 - when Luthen says Saw's cell is flush with cash, it's because he's pretending to be convinced that Saw's group was behind Aldani.
It's funny that Saw doesn't deny it.
@@jackrutledgegoembel5896 Saw does deny it, but Luthen pretends to see Saw's denial as evidence he actually did it.
Wow you're living up to the channel name. I'm not a Star wars newbe but the amount of Easter eggs that you can source is amazing
I just realized that the episodes blended together in their arcs perfectly to a point that it really feels that every arc IS the complete episode. Man this series was awesome
From this point forward, I will forever think "Murder Ball" when I see the Death Star. LOL But OH WOW. I loved that there was so much in Andor that was from or previously seen in Rebels and Bad Batch! Great spotting of all of these~!
You are AMAZING. Thank you! Fantastic video and brilliant information.
I really enjoyed how partagaz calls the ISB surgeons. It lines up with my favorite class in the Old Republic the Imperial Agent. There, Keeper, the head of Imperial Intelligence says they are sanitation workers.
in the after credits scene we can see the parts the prisoners on akina 5 put together being used for the death star if im not mistaken
Luthen's collection has a pair of clawed gauntlets that look a lot like those of the Inquisitor in Tales of the Jedi.
Incredible video!
Thanks! Love your content! 🙏🏼
I love that thr philosphy behind Andor was both being made by people who love star wars, but also made specifically without star wars in mind. Those who filled in references for the script and set design did great
135 whopping ones! This series is insane!
Unbelievable knowledge!!
You had me laughing out loud at “murder ball” 😂
Loved all the sequel trilogy love in this series!
It makes me very happy to see so many Easter Eggs link back to the Star Wars RPG by West End Games.
i appreciate that they’re drawing from the sequel trilogy as well for easter eggs and lore! it really helps everything to feel connected
I would have mentioned that the banging of metal on Ferrix is inspired by Irish citizens doing the same during the Troubles, to warn of troop movements.
Just started to watch, hope you noticed the Wilhelm Scream in the last episode (when the trooper is kicked off the tower).
I liked to think of that cube-shaped holocron as the puzzle box from ‘Hellraiser’
Awesome. Just watched Andor the first time and it does not disappoint.
This show is so good. I need more episodes, season 2 needs to come out soon.
Thank you for this video.
At 15:48 her high heeled boots remind me of the Star Wars: Underworld test footage, where we see the heels of the rebel spy as she steps out of her vehicle.
This whole series reminds of the show Lucas was proposing to Fox that takes place between RotS and ANH saw was rumored to be the main protagonist and was meant to be his debut in Star Wars lore.
Excellent breakdown, one of your best.
Star Wars Explained: talks about double-headed rancor relic
Also Star Wars Explained: points at Luthen’s ear
Well, no good Perin is finally good for something.
One thing I half expected you to mention about Cassian's bantha toy is that a similar one appeared as a favourite toy of Chewie's son Lumpy in the original Star Wars Holiday Special.
I love that you guys used a picture of the crew and mon smiling while talking about a massacre lmao
I died at "Murder Ball"!🤣
There's a shot in IIRC Episode 9 where the Empire is beginning to interrogate Bix where the door closes and the camera pans down to follow the boots of an officer walking past in the hallway outside. This is a duplication of the same shot from A New Hope when the Empire uses the Mind Probe on Leia while she is captured aboard the Death Star.
The theft in Kessel is actually not the theft from Solo but actually what Phoenix Squadron's liberation of Wookie Slaves in Kessel that was told in the very first episode of Rebels which makes sense since Andor and the first season of Rebels takes place in the same time.
The amount of insanely deep cuts from legends in Andor shows how many of the writers are hardcore Star Wars fans.
I don’t think this stuff is fan service at all - just showmakers keeping the universe consistent
My personal speculation is that that big round space station is the "Peace Moon" I keep hearing rumors about.
thats not a Sheathipede at 22:02. it’s the cargo shuttle parked on top of the docking bay at Galaxy’s Edge
There's another helmet in Luthan's shop that is very similar to the Starkiller one but the face is based on early Boba Fett concept art instead.
What a great show so happy I finally got into it after only watching the first three episodes
9:57 I actually wrote a paper on that Aztec artifact for art history recently. I was watching an ep of Andor while adding in foot notes and imagine my surprise when I saw Luther cleaning (?) it!
This will probably get down-voted/ignored, but I don't consider myself a toxic Star Wars fan, and fans the sequel trilogy are still Star Wars fans. Same as OT trilogy fans, and Prequel era fans, and Legend/EU fans. That said, I really dislike the sequel trilogy and references to it. Andor's writing was so good that I didn't care that references were made to it quite frequently at all. It shows that when you have a good story with excellent writers you could reference anything, like the country Mexico, or Austin Powers and, I'd nod and say "Yup that fits". That's what good writing and, a clear vision of a story can do. Suck you in and make you believe anything.
“Henceforth, the Death Star shall be known as…THE MURDER BALL!”
It blows my mind that you can find all of these easter eggs.
Thank you for acknowledging the fact that it is only Starkiller's helmet and not "his suit".
I would like to add that there is a second suit on a mannequin in the back of the shop and a single helmet laying down on a table in the back as well. This single helmet is missing its accents, the flaps on the side and the 'feathers' on top.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed Cassian's pistol. I thought this was a really great reference since its the weapon you start with in Dark Forces when you're on a mission to recover the Death Star plans. It's a nice tie in to how Cassian eventually dies.
Common Star Wars Explained W. Happy Thanksgiving, all!
Not a star wars reference, but the Imperial Bureau of Standards is very reminiscent of a shot from the classic Hollywood film The Crowd (1928) directed by King Vidor
The thing with the orange light behind it at 6:22 is an egg slicer. Also I noticed a pair of Rolykits on Tim's kitchen counter.
That shuttle isn’t a Sheathipede, it’s the cargo shuttle parked at Galaxy’s Edge
I thought you were making a joke here. In my head I heard it in Alec Guinness’ voice a la “That’s no moon…”.
What a treasure trove of info. Thanks.
13:35 no cuold not cause Solo happened 5 years prior to Andor. This Kessel event is probably one from Rebels ,the 1 episode, when they made wookies free.
I don't know that anyone noticed this but if I remembered correctly in episode 12 has the scene where Cassian using Macromonocular to spot some Imperials on Ferrix, this could be a reference to Jason Bourne movies (tactical monocular) due to the fact that Tony Gilroy wrote a screenplay for the trilogy and directed Bourne Legacy...
4:23 Some people hate this detail for some reason but I love it! It’s gives some backstory on the Separatists and their symbol. I like that’s was just a symbol of one of their corporations they decided to adopt for the whole movement
The alien dancer species is actually recently revealed to be a Namara
22:33 You forgot to mention that the mechanical parts that we see assembled on the Death Star are the ones produced in the imperial prison
Happy Thanksgiving!
"That's called The Murder Ball" I love it
“That’s called the murder ball, that’ll be important later”
Chain codes weren't just mentioned in the Mandalorian, if my memory serves, Boba Fett uses his chain codes to prove to Din that the green armor and helmet are his.
Nice to see blockchain fundamentals in Star Wars btw.
This show is underrated gold
It may be a long shot, but there's also a pair of long clawed gloves/hand pieces next to Padme's headpiece. It may be a live action version of the clawed gloves/uniform of the Raxus Secundas guard, seen in Tales of the Jedi episode 3.
Ord Mantel was first mentioned in the BBC Star Wars Radio plays created in 1978. It was voiced by the original actors (Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, etc.) and involved a heist by the trio (plus C3PO and R2D2) to steal Leia's own money from the bank on that planet. They are interrupted by both Imperials and a bounty hunter looking to take Han Solo back to Jabba the Hut. This adventure was considered canon because it was referenced in dialog in the Empire Strikes Back.
It is not fan service nor easter eggs, it's worldbuilding
While not identical, there is Chandrillan glassware seen in several of the Mon Mothma segments whose shape very closely resemble ones used onboard the CSL Halcyon and in Oga's Cantina on Batuu. Sort've obscure, but I thought is was very very cool
I think for Vetch, Ian Whyte was the guy in the suit. I think the voice is Andy Serkis, sounds like his Baloo.
I swear if you told me that the Murder Ball appeared in some obscure reference book that only you know about I would totally believe you.
"The Murder Ball".... that's hilarious!
The component beeing wheeled through the door in the prison could also be alluding to the logo on the scientists working on the death star in Rogue One. The Tarkin Initiative logo. Would make sense considering what they are actually building.
The parts they were working on in the prison was the pieces the droids were installing into the deathstar in the final shot, so all those prisoners were basically helping build cogs and fittings for the murderball
4:20 like a bantha 🌬
I could be stretching with this but I think the Biggs decal on Cassian’s ship might be a callback to early fan theories about Rogue One. When the cast pictures first dropped, a lot of people thought that Diego Luna’s character was going to be Biggs Darklighter because of their similar physical appearance to one another.
I've seen people complain about the lack of aliens in Andor, and yet you've pointed out several that have been in almost every episode
Man that murder ball is really crazy, I hope they make a movie about it
@6:28 the orange light on the wall behind Cassian looks like one of those egg slicers.
15:05 These droids are the same model as the SE8 waiter droids on Canto Bight
