An Easter Egg you missed: When Ezra pretends to be a Night Trooper, one of those Night Troopers said LS-757. LS-757 is a Stormtrooper seen in the Rebels episode "Rebel Assault". He was stationed on Lothal and later on the Chimaera! Fun little easter egg/cameo! Love your easter egg videos!
I havent catch that, but I found out when I was searching it up for my trivia questions that I do with friends and his page on wookiepedia showed up lol
An Easter egg I wanted to point out is that Anakin's line "you lack conviction" during his fight with Ahsoka seems like it's subtly modulated to sound like his robotic Vader voice
12:43 I think the "non-traditional" aspect of Obi-Wan could be referring to him mentoring a Padawan that the Council didn't want trained due to Anakin's age and the cloud of uncertainty that surrounded him
He tried to teach Anakin to follow the rules for his apprentice's own good, but man is the first that would disobey the council and go help satine or fight maul if needed
"Witches just love to ride big ol' creatures, I guess?" --Star Wars Explained [after dark]. Great work Alex. I love the energy and passion you have for Star Wars and the positivity is a refreshing change of pace from what others are doing. Please keep doing this excellent work.
Ik you’ve said this before but I wish you’d mentioned that the World Between Worlds is a reference to the Wood Between Worlds from the Chronicles of Narnia series.
You mentioned the connection between the Great Mothers and the Graeae, well, it's deeper than that. After Perseus beheaded Medusa, he used her head to kill a sea monster called Cetus -- a word that later became the Greek word for whale -- to save Andromeda, after whom a galaxy far, far away is named. Furthermore, Pegasus was born from Medusa's body and Bellerophon rode him to defeat the Chimera. Instead of Minas Tirith, I think the Great Mothers' tower was inspired by its sister-city Minas Morgul. Once known as Minas Ithil, it was captured by Sauron and became home to the Nazgul, led by the Witch-King. The new name means "Tower of Dark Sorcery" and had some associations with necromancy, especially since the Ringwraiths were undead. In Peter Jackson's films the Witch-King's magic even has a similar sickly green color as Nightsister magic.
I haven't seen anyone talk about this yet, but are they setting up Sabine for the new mandalorian leader? She's the last to rightfully win the dark saber and now she can even use the force. Seems like Mando and Bo Katan would unite behind her.
One thing I've noticed is that the T-6 Shuttle used by Ahsoka & Huyang throughout season 1 looks way too old to be of CW vintage, it almost looks like the older model of shuttle used by Dooku and Qui-Gon in TOTJ episode 2. Am I the only one that sees the similarities to the two designs, or am I just pulling at straws?
I think when Ezra fights without a lightsaber, is similar to (unarmed) Mace Windu fight scene in Clone Wars Micro series and maybe Windu in Clone Wars "The Disappeared".
Don't know if that was brought up by someone else but I catched a reference that wasn't mentioned by you: Huyang says "you must be very good student" which calls back to "trials of the darksaber" where sabine says that ezra "must have been a very good student" to got that good by the teachings of kanan jarus
In episode 3 during the training, Ahsoka says “ let’s go again” which Anakin says as well during her training session in tales of the Jedi episode 5. I really feel like the Ahsoka episodes of TOTJ were created to set this whole show up and I love how many connections there are.
Jabba 😅 wouldn't it have been great if Ezra had the little nodi calling him Jabba and when Sabine met them she could still figure it out if they somehow said Jabba. Knowing that's his classic alias
Idk if it counts as an Easter Egg, but the music that plays when the troopers are being reanimated is reminiscent of Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saens, which would make thematic sense
I really liked this show, I don't care what the haters think. The soundtrack was one of the best Star Wars soundtracks since the prequels. Also, it was clearly more thought of by Filoni as "Rebels Season 5" than a standalone "Ashoka" show, but I'm okay with that. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is having to wait 3+ years to find out how Ashoka and Sabine get off of Peridea and back to the correct galaxy.
the blade of Talzin is NOT the same blade that Mother Talzin used against Mace. the hilts are completely different. that would make Talzin more of a title than a name
The Seige of Mandalore was back at the end of the Clone War, Thrawn was still in Chiss space at the time. The Great Purge of Mandalore was near the end of the Galactic Civil War, and happened while Thrawn was in the other galaxy. At best, they used whatever information he left them from when he was working with Tyber Saxon, but that's all.
Why is Thrawn trying to protect the lives of his troops? The night sisters can make them undead so they can’t be killed in battle. Thrawn trying to keep them actually alive makes me think there must be a big disadvantage to undead troopers.
Mindlessness, most likely. They can use weapons, but they're mostly juat brute force rather than tactics. Thrawn is all about controlling as much of the battlefield as possible.
I felt it was a waste to kill her off Elsbeth. Who will fight against Jedis if she's not there? Thrawn and The Great Mothers don't fight with a lightsaber. Morgan was the best warrior of that group. Ahsoka trended up with Ep 4-6. Then limped to the finish line with Ep 7 and 8 like Game of Thrones did in its final two seasons or episodes. With The Critical Drinker's video, I'm not as harsh towards Ahsoka but I agree about 80% of what he said especially his comments about Dave Filoni and Thrawn being more of an idiot than a threat. Go back to Ep 8. Sabine crashes the ship. That delayed the group even more. But for convenience, they still catch up to Thrawn! 😂 They give Sabine her Force powers at the most appropriate time. Thrawn giving every chance to Ahsoka to catch up while he is on this giant star destroyer that completely misses everytime they aimed at Ahsoka & Co. Thrawn should not feel any sense of accomplishment. Morgan, Baylan, and Shin helped them escape. Morgan died for him after her promotion while Baylan and Shin rescued Morgan. Lars is perfect as Thrawn but how he behaves is completely moronic. Blame the awful writing. Thrawn is shown being a genius at killing his own men who can't stop 3 people from entering a gate they should've destroyed in the first place and then pretending he accomplished something genius. What a waste to lose Diana Lee Inosanto, goddaughter to Bruce Lee, while Rosario looks amateurish with a lightsaber. Diana is like 13 years older than Rosario and she still moved quicker and more fluid. I can understand Rosario learning this in her 40s. Hayden got to learn this in his early 20s. Diana since she was a child. But it's just not believable for Ahsoka to wins these fights from Rosario's slow moves. I love Baylan Skoll. Why couldn't we get more of this guy? The only interesting character in all this. And if not him because maybe Filoni will save footage of him for next season, why not explain to us more about Shin Hati? What's her deal? I'm still completely confused on why Baylan left Shin? He took her with him only to separate with her? Why not just leave her back home? It's dumb writing that can turn interesting characters into morons. I can understand Baylan asking Shin to have Sabine and Ezra killed. Remember, Baylan was making a deal with Sabine. If he got the map, he was willing to protect her until she found Ezra. So he did keep his word to Sabine until the moment he had to comply to what Thrawn demanded. But ditching Shin still had me confused. What if Shin isn't really like that? What if Baylan is prejudging her? He's saying she might be that way. Now Baylan could also be protecting her from this entity that's calling him. I believe it would've been better had they stuck together. But since Ray passed away, it might be easier to show his final moments than if Shin was next to him. The moment Baylan and Shin got more interesting by Ep 6, they stopped showing them after it. What a tease! A whole lotta nothingburger! Ahsoka should've stayed a cartoon. As one great comment told Thor Skywalker who compared Ahsoka to Andor, Ahsoka was a carrot on a stick but without a carrot. Once I saw close to 30 minutes had passed, I knew we weren't going to see Baylan and Shin except for 30 seconds which exactly happened. Ep 8 went completely a different direction to how I saw it. And it's a direction I didn't care for with the silly, cartoonish writing. The few issues I had with it negated it too much that it made me overlook the positives it had. Thank you for that information! It also tracks with this " Project Necromancer" mentioned by Capt. Palleion in the Mandalorian!!!
My head is spinning. So much info!
The Kiners’ music for Sabine & Kanan in Rebels are some of the greatest musical works…Ever❤️
Oh man her mom's hair clip, I really hope we get some tie in material about Sabine's training and the purge of Mandalore
Obi-Wan defied the council and said he'd train Anakin anyways. So they gave in. Seems pretty untraditional for a Jedi especially a Padawan.
I haven't seen anyone talk about this yet, but are they setting up Sabine for the new mandalorian leader? She's the last to rightfully win the dark saber and now she can even use the force. Seems like Mando and Bo Katan would unite behind her.

Ahsoka says Huyang has been flying that ship longer than she's been alive, so it's definitely an ancient model.
