Defying Expectations With Zarya Roadhog - Pro Overwatch Analysis
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- After undergoing roster changes and having a turbulent season, the Washington Justice exceeded expectations during their OWL 2020 playoffs run with a great display of mastery over team compositions revolving around Zarya Roadhog.
In this edition of Behind The Akshon, we take a look at how the Justice plays with these two tanks to generate zone pressure and make aggressive picks.

4:34 “At this point the shock know that the first hook is everything, and really their only chance at stopping the justice’s momentum. Knowing this, Choihyobin jumps out of cover and immediately gets hooked”
These writers are amazing LOOOL
OH MY GOD HOW DID I NOT CATCH THAT LMAO
The "Choi Explodes" part, he combusts very rapidly and it made me lose my shit lol
Gotta say, this is an amazing channel. Love the micro plays series and the comp series.
Glad you like them!
Akshon Esports I love em to
Same, this channel is the definition of quality over quantity
@@Akshonesports have thoroughly enjoyed all of them
You channel is just amazing and I want to play for shock one day
Akshon you should do an episode comparing the Justices comp and Seoul’s comp
Seoul: flexes Marvel on D.Va, Sigma, Wrecking Ball to counter different enemy comps
Washington: Haha Decay Zarya go VRRRMMM
In all seriousness, I think Seoul focuses on team coordination and Marvel's wide hero pool to pull off many different Hog comp variants, while Washington relies more on Decay's mechanical skill to frag out with heavy DPS
Seouls:More flexible, more team work, but also has pop off potential.
Washington: Pump all resources in Decay and Stitch and hope they can pop off
Crazy that Decay's name was actually Donkey Kong this whole time and I didn't know.
kinda weird yall didnt talk about how this comp got figured out by coaches and beat. philly learned from the 5 map series and dominated decay till he switched tanks. really cool adaptations.. dope video. yall rock
4:27 - Apagando las usless.
“And B.O.B doesn’t do something.”
Now that is an incredible line!
it would only make sense we would get a double off tank meta after a double main tank meta
"And Bob doesn't do something."
I was going to have lunch but then i saw this video so i had to watch it
I think that this comp is great. And I really wished that Justice would make it to the finals. It was a geat upset and made things really exciting.
man I thought I was a bad hog player.. until I saw choihyobin play
JoeTheButt is a fantastic sponsor name lol
Justice still got reverse sweeper by shock tho, lol
Rascals emp wouldn’t accomplish anything because his team wouldn’t be able to capitalize on it
GIgahog proved that Overwatch is a shit FPS game, GOATS era proved that Overwatch is a shit MOBA game. Blizzard needs to get in their heads that Overwatch is a TEAM-BASED shooter, not a MOBA, not an FPS.
Really really poor analysis of shock v justice. Especially first point on Kong’s row. The Hook had next to zero to do with justice winning that fight. It was solely due to the justice Ashe getting an early pick on ANS.
I basically just learned that aimgod is a monster
5:27 that’s like an avengers scene lmao
xD
It looks way too cool
“Hold w and reclaim space from the shock”
Me, an intellectual: space plays for the gladiators..
cringe
This comment radiates Classy Pooh energy.
watch something happened to Zarya ua-cam.com/video/C7rocAfcp8c/v-deo.html
I love hearing "and then choi explodes".
He's loyal to his best hero D.va and explodes like the mech LMAO
Ah, I see, a perfect case of 'hog diff'
That's called Off-Tank Difference
Really?
Choi's hog is fine, it's just that Smurf's Zarya isn't that great and they didn't have the best grasp on how to play the comp (Smurf wasting bubble before Choi's breather to cleanse the Anti killed him a few times). That's why later in the bracket whenever they wanted to run Hog Zarya with either threw Super in to play the Hog (who knew Super's Hog was better than Smurf's Zarya?) or iirc Smurf swapped to Hog when they ran it against Philly on Gibraltar. As much as Choi and Ans can really pop off, Shock are best when they get to win through team coordination rather than individual carry plays like this comp relies on
@@LucidProtean I beg to disagree. Smurf's bubbles were on point (just as Akshon showed on video), it's just that the bubbles were bursted down down so quickly each time. You can see that Smurf and Choi actually time their bubble and breather correctly, the bubble just bursts too quickly and AimGod's nade just connects perfectly on Choi each time.
For evidence, check 3:23 where the bubble from Smurf was timed correctly to save Choi after being hooked. Any different timing like delaying the bubble half a second later would have resulted in Choi dying BEFORE he could even use breather. AimGod was there as insurance to follow up with the nade regardless, so Choi was basically dead the moment Jjanu's hook connected. The Justice are just that well practiced in following up on Jjanu's hooks that the enemy Zarya's bubble timings were negligible. The only way Choi would have survived is if Smurf used bubble to block Jjanu's hook from connecting in the first place. That's what Akshon meant in 3:40 by "an entire fight won from a single hook". This isn't to discount the perfect timing of Ttuba diving the backline at the same time to snuff the res onto Ans's Ashe, whose death triggered the Justice tank line to push in in the first place. It's just a good pick onto Ans followed up perfectly by the Justice.
At 4:01, the exact same thing happens. Smurf is forced to bubble Choi to save him from Jjanu's next left click and Decay's beam, but the bubble bursts in less than a second, and is followed up by AimGod's nade. Jjanu didn't even need to hit that hook to kill Choi. Where he was standing, he was as already as good as dead. And while I want to question why Choi was pushing in so deep when the only cover he has is the cart (which isn't really a good cover since the Justice are literally all around and on top of it and have different angles to attack Choi where he's "taking cover"), I'm guessing there's another reason he pushed up so far there. Maybe a miscomm on a possible initiation (Shock didn't have ults aside from nano tho, so maybe waiting on emp? idk). But yeah as Akshon stated in that fight Smurf used his bubble early to farm energy, which might have been a mistake, or Smurf didn't think they would be engaging so quickly (the cart wasn't even around the corner just yet).
This same thing happens again in 4:41 and in 5:17. Smurf's bubble was timed correctly to save Choi from followup damage. I think it was Choi's "ambitious" playstyle that's so high risk and aggressive that gets him killed. You can see that Jjanu is very patient vs Choi, waiting for Choi to make a move first before jumping him when he's defenseless without hook, since Choi was too busy looking to make a play, while Jjanu was just vibing on the payload.
You could say it was Choi being too aggressive, wanting to meet Jjanu head on. Or you could also say that it was Smurf and Choi not having practiced enough to be on the same page on when they're engaging or backing off. From what I can see, it's just a matter of Justice's lineup being more attuned in running the comp, and Shock trying hard to flex and meet them in the same comp.
in the end they got outdone by a rein main kekw
1:30 i thought he was talking about decay's body flying
Sameeee
I would too XD, he was like, I CAN FLllY! NO
Yeeehaw
watch something happened to Zarya ua-cam.com/video/C7rocAfcp8c/v-deo.html
The odd thing about Hog is he’s always had this fight winning potential just by landing a hook, but it took a burst damage buff that has since been needed to make it viable. I haven’t seen him much in middle of the road elo since his re nerf but his hook at higher levels can still end fights singlehandedly
Yeah, it needs some cordination from the team
He’s better right now than he was against double barrier, despite the nerfs.
@@veryGoodTV3 I hope this meta ideology stays (like double barrier was discovered to still work - even though nerfed - after 2 months without being used in owl season 3 thanks to "splitting the squad" type strats) and hog is used in brawl as an alternative to rein in the future
Seoul has been scrimming like all of Korean contenders, and so Korean Contenders, and in turn the Korean ladder, has adopted Seoul's Roadhog Sigma comp as meta. So currently in Korea Roadhog remains meta despite the nerf.
No it wasn't just the damage buff, other tanks getting needed helped a lot.
"And bob doesnt do something"
*Angry ashe noises*
Lmao
Can we take a moment to appreciate Aimgod (and all Ana players) in this composition (or similar ones)? Ana has 2 of the scariest ccs in the game plus a game-changing ult, and seeing such maximized is always a sight to behold. Throwing hooks and bubbles is important, but so is landing the crucial bio-nade or sleep dart to counter key cooldowns.
Ana is the only character that matter in this comp honestly
That's why I love that kit. It really feels big if you manage to hit either one of them.
“Knowing this, chyohobin jumps out of cover and immediately gets hooked”
4:58 "and bob doesnt do something"
LMAOOO
This was the most fun as a justice fan since that weird meta after goats, it seems like we excel in weird team comps
he goes: *and bob.. doesn't do something.*
and my brain was trying to figure out if it was proper English or not, meanwhile the joke went right over my head lol
“And bob doesn’t do something”
One job bob... one job
This all happened cause super wasnt playing genji, he could've reflected the hook lol
One vid before study, glad its a good one
Lol same
Sane
I’m excited for the grand finals
bit late mate. the playoffs ended already
ChopySticky - what do you mean I’m talking about the top 4 games in South Korea
Joseph those are the grand finals.
Oops fixed it
maybe the next video could be how the fusion successfully dismantled the justice comp
This channel is going to be big one day, watch
I think you should make a video about team Avoided in EU contenders. They are not as well known as OWL teams but 3 of their players are one tricks that they start and they thus only run Ball, Pharah Mercy. I think it would be neat to see analysis into that composition with the excellent production quality and analysis of your channel.
just watch their videos about the chengdu comp its almost exactly the same
:D
:D
:Dd
D:D
I love this style of video! Please make more
Yeeaa yikes, it was really awkward to see players who have never played hog in their lives to try to struggle to be good on him.
Damn i know they’re professional and way better than all of us. But Choi was feeding hard, wonder what his hook accuracy was
You forgot Ana's role, she can completely shut down a hog if she's ignored. You can always hook 1st if your Ana has a nade to follow up :)
I think Akshon is missing the fact that most of these micro plays are HEAVILY won by Ana. The sleep on sombra, the well timed nades on hog multiple times and the amazing heals pumped out.
Good Grief
People don't realize that you can make a really safe hook right next to a corner and turn them to your team whilst body blocking them because they are stuck behind the corner.
Ngl, kinda wanted to see super play hog against washington...
"And Bob doesn't do something"
this is what I subbed for
Then super comes in and destroys the competition in the Washington game
zarya needs a nerf
Noah Ramirez why?
Hog did, and hog got
Remember when Ashe was basically a throw pick?
Funny how times have changed.
Can you do a video showing how philly tore apart this comp
I fucking hates this meta and I claimed to diamond with it
Basically aimgod carry
I kinda wanted to see how Philly was able to successfully counter DC -- and whether Hog/Zarya was something that Seoul and Shanghai have been trying. The Final Four is going to be played on the same patch as the main Playoffs were - but I only see Seoul and/or Shanghai even trying to attempt this comp. SF had a hard time countering it in their first 2 maps against DC, while Philly did a decent job countering it with Hog/Sigma ("Pig's Feet"). I heard Seoul also did the Hog/Sig comp as well to counter Hog/Zarya.
I love these Videos so much, they capture all the moments i love in owl
节目质量好高!nice work
Justice delivered
Lame pun lmao
Dammit I wish justice didn't choke and went 2-3. I really wanted shock to lose. Also, i despised this meta cuz this was one of the metas that was one of the only metas viable in lower ranks (mei reaper was too) and it was impossible to win any tank games without going hog
@Akshon Esports
Some suggestions for the narrator Nikita:
1. Slow down your speaking speed by about 10~20%.
2. Enunciate each word clearly. Sometimes you have a tendency to slur or rush some of your words, particularly at the end of a sentence, or inbetween sentences.
3. Relax your inflection and tone to a more natural talking voice, instead of making every sentence sound like "THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT".
These suggestions are garnered from watching multiple videos narrated by you, and not necessarily all representative of this particular video I'm commenting on. However, these are definitely differences that make Jonah's narration much easier listening compared with yours. Your narration is by no means bad, but his softer tone, slower speed and consistently clear enunciation does make the deep analysis videos that he narrates much easier to absorb. Of these three, the talking speed part is of the most concern. Perhaps you have a longer script than his and is trying to match the speed of the video itself. In that case, I suggest the editor of the videos slow them down a bit more to allow you for a more relaxed, analytic pace to your narration.
I'm so sad that Washington didn't beat SFS
But watching them play against Philly in the LBF, they absolutely threw
I like how the number one tip for hog is never hook first becuz teams are ass and always let hog walk and then he hooks you once you take heals and wins hooking a hog first means you lose but in OWL its complete opposite
"and bob doesn't do something"
Say what you will about the circumstances surrounding the Justice's run, every player performed exceptionally. It's no surprise that the only two teams to defeat the Justice during the playoffs were the Shock and the Fusion, who placed first and second.
Anyone who acts like the Justice stole a podium finish from their preferred team(s) in the playoffs are deluding themselves. That team failed to beat the Justice; what chance would they have against the Shock and Fusion?
The tank battle is EVERYTHING. Trust me, the Main Tank 1v1 will determine the match. So any DPS mains out there, help your main tank win it.
And then along came super
What Fuel was thinking in that fight? Leaving Gamsu alone vs Hog, when they literally had reaper and lucio, 3v1 that ult batter from behind shield of Rein, and yet they feeded.
Aimgod is fucking carrying
I'm actually a big fan of this comp. Individual positioning is crucial because you don't have a shield to hide behind. So much better than the Orisa Sig days which were just so braindead.
Not gonna lie, I genuinely love this narrator 😻 he’s my favorite of the three
Aimgof better get MVP this year he hs been such a consistent and dare i say the best Ana in OWL history. Even beating Ryujehong imo (sorry if i spelt it wrong)
when has zarya not been good
“The Washington Justice came back to relevance”
You telling me they weren’t?
They darn deserved too before
Can you maybe make a 2. part where you explain how fusions Hanzo countered their strat and why they switched Ana for Zen and sticked with this? Would be very interisting
Yes new vid
I main Zarya and rein,my brother hog and rein. We agreed to go zarya and hog so we can't fight over the "who gets to play the rein" long ago. And now it's the meta
Holy fuck the actual professionalism and Wit of the script is astounding. This content is actual gold wow
People want to cry about barrier tanks but don't make sure to take care of them to be able to push the attack.
Do you guys have a playlist for all the music you use, it’s always so nice and calming, good focus music.
i dont even play overwatch anymore and neither watch the league but i love to watch your videos, keep on doing them love it
4:58 bob you had 1 job
On this episode of OWL, Choihyobin explodes. Every. Fight.
i mean..... justice where just better for the first two maps (i mean decay was :D )
Akshon: Says something about the tank line
Shows bob: aight, i can belive it.
Wonder if shield will every go back to how it was. Pre nerf. Before sigma
I bet i would have more fun sleeping than pocketing someone as Mercy
I dont even play Overwatch and enjoy these vids. Nice work man!
Shock was awful. They compounded on their mistakes.
Who do you guys think is the overall best unit in the game.
So basically "Choihyobin gets hooked and fucking dies"
The closest thing to having 4 dps and 2 supports ever since roll lock
Love the effort, i suggest you keep uploading 🙏🙏💯💯
If you wonder who the shock lost on attack. Super was not the roadhog.
Are you going to bring back PROfiles?
So basically, Zaria Hog is DPS with extra steps
Can you do a behind the scenes Video where you show how your Videos are produced?
AimGod is so unbelievably good and also so unbelievably underrated
This video is basically just about how choi can't play hog
1:30 poor zarya lmaoo
3:29 the term “Purple pig” is something I wanna hear most often in comp games
I like this comp because it’s full of my mains 😂😂
