Good info. I have a 2018 Camaro 2SS and plan on tracking it this summer. Hopefully my starter doesn't go bad too. We both live in the same area, would love to hear your car and see how the headers sound with the npp. Keep up the content!

Im dealing with the same thing on my 18 ZL1. Longtube headers run right past the starter and think they roasted the starter solenoid. So now Im going to buy a new OE starter, starter heat blanket and heat wrap the part of the headers that run by the starter to make 100% sure this time!!!

When you loosened your headers did you pull the entire exhaust off behind that? I have a feeling my starter is about to go so going to replace it sooner rather than later.

Hi, my starter just went bad but I cannot find one anywhere. Where did you buy yours? Can I get a part number if possible? Thanks!

Mine crapped out on me at around 80k miles, lucky I wasn't far from home but needed to get my 2016 camaro 2SS towed.

If it started fine when cold then it was probably heat soak from the headers. DEI makes a starter heat shield wrap for that. Whether you have the space to put it on is another question. May have to take it out just to wrap it.

I think the starter get hot cause of headers, try to put some shield around the headers.

Love the wrap man, Frankenstein camaro!!🤘 I've got a license plate frame with the same pattern on my 16' SS....but man I gotta question, I've got headers on my car as well...and just purchased a GM starter heat shield. Is that the same shield u have?? And is it fairly easy to bolt the sheild on? And was ur shield still not enough protection to keep it from heat soaking?? Thanks in advance man!

Good video. I was wondering if you could tell me exactly what the issue was before replacing it? I bought my SS brand new in 2016 and it’s been an ongoing INTERMITTENT issue from day one and Chevy could NEVER replicate the problem nor fix it. My SS will crank extremely slow at times and IF it starts when doing that, the electronics freak out and the engine runs very choppy and like it’s not supposed to be running at all. Warranties are up and the issue is even worse now. They claim my starter TESTS good and the alternator as well. Battery was already replaced. Any advice?
