I attempted to change mine today but it didn’t clear the exhaust. I tried to remove the heat shield but someone previously had welded it together. Any tips?
For the 2013, LFX V6, with one exhaust port per head, remove the 4 exhaust manifold to head 15 mm nuts/stud bolts and slide the exhaust left. Will buy you that 1/4" you need on the LFX V6 downpipe.
@@chrisbrzon3917 I tried to unbolt the header and it sparked at me lmaoo, needed to disconnect the battery so I gave up. I just hit the starter with a hammer and it’s been working since lol
The wire loom and wires themselves are pretty crispy in this area so close to the downpipe and cat. Got about half removed tonight. Definiteky will need to remove heat shield to get any clearance to be able to get it out.
Usually it will make a clicking noise and not start. Another way to tell if a starter is going bad is to have someone turn the key forward as you tap the starter with a hammer. If the starter cranks over it is going bad. Do this at your own risk.
Mine just makes one click and doesn’t turn over. Have to do it a few times to get it to start. Battery is good tho. Id say that’s most likely the starter, right?
I would check the connector to see if it is seated correctly and also make sure the sensor doesn't have gunk on it that may be causing this issue. Hope this helps you out.
@HomeOwnerRepair so I took a look and I guess I forgot to tighten it down a bit more. Hopefully that solves the issue. But your video saved me tons of time and money. I'll be looking around on your page for more tutorials.
@screwhead4202 I did that and that wasn't it. Some how the wiring that connects to the knock sensor was twisted so the 2 wires connecting into the sensor were touching. So I just untwisted it and used electrical tape and now nothing. Reseting codes don't do a thing unless you understand
@hotpackjay the starter power wire is on the driver side. He never showed location. On a impala 3.6 (sideways engine) it's between the engine and radiator fan (under exhaust manifold) so I can only assume judging by this video that it's not on the driver side otherwise the steering shaft would be visible.

@blaster1120 I had the same problem today. I pulled mine out thru the top
@@jukedbyjesus5996 How? Had no space from the top either.
It was tight even on this car.

How do I know if the starter is bad. I own a 2010 that will not crank or start. Good battery

@@fingerfast4197same here, have you figured it out yet?
I did this and now i have knock sensor codes. We had to remove the knock sensor to get the starter out.

He never showed where the starter is located.
He showed it plenty of times seems like you weren’t paying attention boss. Passenger side of the vehicle side of the engine
Driver side in between driverside cat
