I recently helped a friend diagnose his 2010 Camaro SS for a primary/ secondary ignition coil G fault. He has also been experiencing all these other problems in this video and adding another ground wire solved a lot of the issues, however, here is something else that we found. On the main wiring harness cable that comes from the passenger side to the front of the engine block, there is a metal bracket that holds the wiring harness. Over time, this bracket rubs into the wiring harness eventually cutting into the wires which was causing our problem. Check this bracket and see if its cutting into your wiring harness. We took the bracket off and covered it with electrical tape to help. Id probably recommend using a plastic bracket if you can find something like that.
Hey so your friend had a code for P0357 which is ignition coil G code. And adding the better grounding cable fixed that code? Asking because I am currently going through the exact same thing right now. Have a code for ignition coil g which I have changed, changed the spark plugs switched the spark cable to another cylinder and checked the coil connector for power and shows good and code stays at same cylinder. Haven’t checked the grounds yet and not sure how to check the ones on back of each cylinder since it’s hard to see. But I’m hoping I can do this and hopefully 🤞 this would help me.
Thank you bro🙏 I’m having all sorts of electrical problems . I did this and it’s at least running . Not really a car guy but they tried to charge me 400$ to change an alternator so I bought a tool set and UA-cam instead. These type of videos sure help
I did one under the hood to the driver side front header bolt to the inner fender well. I also did one from the Bell housing to that extra ground stud. I did another one in the trunk off the battery to the body in my car does not get that slow crank no more that everybody thought was the starter being heat soaked.
Thanks for the video! My Camaro is a 2014 so it's slightly different, the battery ground is like 1 gauge. I put a ground wire on the engine block, it seemed easier than the belt pulley tensioner
Just ordered a 1 gauge ground cable. I will try this. I had an issue last week when I started the car after coming out of the gym and all the dash lights didn't come on for about 10 seconds. It's the only time it's happened since I bought the car last October. Then I remembered your video I scrolled over the other day. I hope this takes care of it ever happening again. 2018 SS 1le with 32,500mi. Thanks for the video...
@@EssMotorsports LOL... Scrolled over sounds bad i know... But.. I always kept it in the back of my mind if i ever had electrical issues. I didnt have any at the time so i was more interested in small MOD videos... Great videos..
I have an RS my interior light seems to be flickering when i turn it on, idk if it’s because of the fuse box and maybe i messed with it but what can it be and how can it be fixed. Also i got my led headlight bulbs replaced and the headlights have rgb but only one side works properly with the rgb the other one is completely shut. Id it electrical failure in the headlights or the car itself
Ground from tensioner to ground floor n den seem to help a lot initially, but I think I have some other electronic component now, needing attention or replacement.
I have (camaro rs 2017)…is the same issue on my car ? Hard starting when i directly click the start/stop button…but if i first hold the button down for ten seconds without break until the car show me all the gages and options then turn on the engine…in this case it’s often don’t hard starting
My 2020 is having this issue. It's a V6 though. Has a studder/pulling when driving and not accelerating and when I come to a slow stop it jerks. Has the smell every now and then. Dealerships says they can't find anything wrong.
Ok here we go. I bought my 2018 2SS about 2 years ago it was used and only had 4K miles on it. The 8 speed trans had a shudder to it. I’ve had this same issue with my GMC Canyon. GM/Chevy has final come up with a fix for it and it works. So I took it in for The fix. About a week later I go to start my car and it started but not at first. Took it to the dealer they said everything was fine. So I bought a battery tender and leave it on when not drive. Car isn’t my daily. I then started smelling antifreeze only when the A/C is on. Took it to the dealer twice they pressure tested nothing. tested the oil to see if there’s antifreeze in it nope. Checked the heater core nothing. No leaks. No lose of coolant. Yesterday I was driving it and pulled in and the tac start jumping up and down. Engine wasnt reviving. So I found this channel and just installed the cable. Test drove it and knock on wood tac stop jumping. Hopefully the antifreeze smell goes away now.
I have a 2017 Camaro rs, after I turn my car off a lot of times won’t start back up unless I do the remote start and even then sometimes it won’t start. Is this the same issue?
I have the heat soak issue on both my 2018 2ss 1LE and on my 1989 iroc vert. Do you recall what the bolt size was on the trunk battery and ground bolts. I tried a bunch and none seem to fit right. Great vid thanks
Question, this solution in addition of solving this issues would also make your starter last longer ? kepping all other varible the same , like use, weather etc.
I’m going to try this tomorrow my instrument cluster was going haywire and the forums said it was a grounding issue hopefully these work …. All my service codes pop on from check airbags to parking sensors the gauges all stay at the bottom I’m hopeful that I won’t have to take it to the dealership
They sell me a 2017 Camaro LT, with just 30k miles, but with "electrical problems" I don't know what it really is, but does this video fix all electrical problems? Would it be a good idea to buy it and do the video?
I tried this but when I removed tensioner bolt completely off .but now I am unable to put the belt back on . Did you usee any tools to put the belt back on?
hey boss I have a 2019 Camaro ss and I added the extra ground wire in the front same as you but now my power steering is out. Do you know how to reset it? I undid the ground wire I added and my power steering is still off.
@@EssMotorsports it’s saying to Service my Electronic Power steering drive carefully. I also removed the negative battery and let it sit for 30 min and the issue is still occurring with the extra ground wire removed. I don’t think there’s a fuse for our power steering correct? I checked the fuse box and don’t see anything related

I added a ground from the brace by the fuse box to the right side of the engine block front side but the car seems to have acquired the problem with starting again.

Bouncing tach is usually a ground issue from what I've read. Check grounds on back of cylinder head to make sure they aren't loose as well

when loosing the serpentine belt bolt, do you turn it clock wise again or counter clockwise to re-tighten the belt

Is this related to the altenator going bad with this battery saver options?
