@@Alknix Yeah, who knows. That movie effectively had the unfortunate task of needing to cram two movies worth of content into one. Disney Star Wars 1 set up some potential for something interesting, Disney Star Wars 2 burned it all in a dumpster fire and left them with nothing to use for a finale (New Republic is headless, the Resistance is basically dead aside from the half dozen (give or take a couple) entities (counting both meatbags and droids) that ended up escaping on the Falcon in the end, the First Order can rule uncontested after that), and then it was up to Disney Star Wars 3 to attempt to course correct and try to deliver on the previous movie's lost potential first just to create a foundation upon which some sort of halfway satisfying finale might be built... And then stealing the idea of Palpatine clones from EU material was where they ended up taking it and they only had the final act of the movie to both introduce and resolve that plot point.

Somehow Torben goes from a bad padawan to a master in really short time and ages quite dramatically. He's been meditating for 10 years or so. Therefore he went from padawan to knight to master all before his meditation. If he was so disturbed by the events that he goes into a trance gor so long, there's no way he would progress in the jedi.
Why do you think, it was before? I assume it was during his meditation, someone come, give him promotion and went away.

Now, he gets to see how the franchise he loved gets ran into the ground by people who hate the franchise and who hate fans like him simply for being white and male.

AI would have done a better job with this series. Also it's not $22.5m per episode they only shot 7 episodes of content and cut it into episodes 3 and 7. They spent over 25m an episode.

2 flashbacks, 2 fillers, and 1 fight scene episode. Only 2 episodes have progressed the plot.
Arguably this episode is also filler, because it didn't actually advance the plot, it just reaffirmed everything we were told in episode 3!
Crazy how Star Wars is (and has been for a while) at a point where I'd rather watch several hour+ long discussions about how bad a show is than actually watch the show itself.

Unfortunately, I deal with people on this level all the time and I've realized something. In rare cases, people can be genuinely unintelligent, but the situations that seem outrageously stupid are often the result of people who just aren't putting in the effort to think anymore. So yeah, people are thinking below their ability all the time because they've just given up and stopped trying.
The whole point of this episode was to give us a different perspective and make us see the Jedi as the bad guys, but it utterly failed.
And I found it hilarious that Mae is still responsible for trying to burn her sister alive and destroying the fortress

Knives are more deadly in Star Wars than lightsabers. Lightsaber wound is at worst a 30-minute injury. We've seen a child/woman stabbed twice in the stomach. A dude get his spine sliced in half. Minor injuries, all better in the next scene.

Every episode of this show feels like it was written by 132 different writers that had no direction, no communication with each other, and had zero prior contact with anything even remotely connected to Star Wars. It's like they went on fiverr and hired random people to write their episodes with no coherent instructions.
But they were either black or gay. Believe it!
This isn't really what you said but I just imagined an absurd amount of people gathering in a single Gartic Phone lobby and playing story mode to generate a bunch of potential episode script outlines. (Each person has a minute or so to write a sentence, with no more context than what was written in the previous sentence. The game shuffles things around at random each time until everybody has contributed one sentence to every separate story.)
And then maybe they write those stories down to pass through chatgpt or whatever to prompt it to generate scripts out of them.
And then maybe they all get write access on a google doc with all of the generated scripts pasted into it and they all simultaneously / chaotically try to edit it all down and organize it into 8 episodes and nobody does a sanity check on whatever ends up in place in the end.
Atlanta Nights was a book that was literally bad on purpose (to demonstrate the "traditional publisher" would print anything you paid them to) by giving each collaborating author a different chapter with no communication between them, and the order of chapters shuffled at random. Characters would change description between chapters, die and return without explanation etc.
The Acolyte may top a work deliberately meant to be awful.

I think they were probably better before. With how foolish Hollywood is, I would bet most projects are better the further from release they are. Every step of the process seems to degrade the quality of some talented writer's basic concepts. Everything that comes out from these people seems to have an interesting base idea that is just awful in execution. Not just bad but actually awe-inspiring in the old sense of awful.
This was A.I. asked to write a woke star wars show, which would be barely watchable. Until Disney let its butchers go to work and make this show so bad we LITERALLY need a stronger word than "satire" and "woke" now
When you try to play DnD with AI, one if the biggest problems is it feels like it has the memory of a goldfish. A wizard helping the party might suddenly become hostile out of the blue then deny their malice the next second.
That's how this whole series has felt.
Maya is evil then not then is in 2 episodes.
Acolytes can then can't then can use weapons.
Etc.
It feels like it is written by an ai then zero proof reading was done.
I learned about NeuroSama pretty recently and watched several videos of various clips / segments from the streams, and one of them was Vedal having her try to DM a DnD campaign and it went pretty much exactly like that. Characters and plot points appearing out of nowhere and silently disappearing just as easily. No consistency in where the story is taking place or what the story is even about. She'd fall off into a tangent and then everything that had been happening before is pretty much lost. I forget if one of the inconsistencies was a friendly/evil/friendlyagain wizard specifically, but it was all in the same neighborhood as that type of development.
@MuljoStpho I tried AIDungeon first... it had this problem the worst. I think I played a knight and a wizard kept telling me to fight a dragon. Railroading me in an incredible way... like teleporting me and tying up my character lol. The wizard kills me and brings me back. It was actually hilarious.
ChatGPT does a better job but same issues. Also chat gpt stays pretty pg13. AI Dungeon let's you be a lot darker. But both have that weird amnesia problem.
AI also doesn't really understand cause to effect, instead understands item>items that frequently follow that item. Tell it a character "sees a big button and a sign labeled" and give it an open quote at the end. It knows what labels signs tend to have, but not what label a big button will have. I've gotten "Pull me!"

Now this sounds like a dialog from Monty Python.
I mean, one could possibly make a good comedy out of the script. Heck: the bathing commentary made me chuckle, narration was on point. But it is material for mocking parody, nothing more.

Regarding not being able to find people on the surface, here is a quote from one of David Weber's books (paraphrasing): Sensors, capable of tracking thousands of relativistic missiles over the ranges of many light minutes in space, would have no issue to find something on a surface of the planet.
About the only thing that you can hide without being deep underground/underwater (or some kind of fantastical cloaking technology) is low level civilization in a dense rainforest. Even with some super advanced cameras, heat sensors, radar, etc., you might not notice a hunter-gatherer community in that kind of dense hot vegetation.
Also, I guess you might be able to "hide" a civilization in a river valley or ravine if some orbiting space ship isn't thoroughly searching the surface but that requires that the the ship never happens to have line of sight into the center of the valley.

With the way they've depictied travel time, Jedi could just go home to Coruscant each night! At least on weekends.
I've had the thought before while in the comments sections under various reviewers videos covering this show that it feels like the writers are assuming MMO logic in what sort of travel is possible. Just use your quick travel over and over to zip around between a dozen different planets in less than an hour. Or make that two hours if you use your personal starship to get around instead of using quick travel.

Hell many of us go to work at 9am, knock off at 5pm and then travel two hours home.
These guys can cover half a galaxy in less time than we travel to and from work every day.

If memory serves, in canon (fuck the retcon) there were four lesser councils of the Jedi, each of them residing in one of the four outer spires of the temple. One of them, I believe, governed matters of the Living Force, so it does make sense that there would be Jedi specifically in that field of study that would be surveying previously lifeless planets in search of a vergence.
My issue is how the Jedi were portrayed in various aspects of this episode. The padawan is expressing selfish desires and being overly emotional, Sol is doing the same, Indara is the only one even attempting to remain detached and objective throughout and while Kelnacca is mostly "fine" throughout the episode the biggest injustice is when he's being mind-fucked by the witches, HIS INNATE STRENGTH SHOULD MAKE HIS LIGHTSABER STRIKES MUCH MORE POWERFUL. They needed to depict Sol and the Padawan struggling to block and deflect because Kelnacca would have been putting the famous Wookiee strength into every one of those blows.

That Wookie fight should of looked more like when the Witch King is smacking down Eowyn, even if they blocked they should be injured by the impact or if hit by his hands, seriously damaged.

The Jedi reference Brendok being part of a hyperspace disaster, which is obviously a reference to a major event from the High Republic novels. But that was a freak ship collision in hyperspace that caused the pieces of the ship to come flying out of hyperspace at near light speed and nearly devastated an entire system of planets if not for the Jedi working as a collective on a massive scale. I don’t know how that would have devastated an entire planet to the point the sudden wellspring of life a hundred years later wouldn’t just be explained away by natural processes.
