Gunna umm actually. According to George Lucas the Star wars Universe doesn't operate on the same laws of physics as our world. Think about the Death Star Exploding if it Exploded wouldn't it also not have had blast/flame in a vacuum if it operated on real world logic, like fire doesn't in the first episode. I'm just saying there's already been precedences set even before the acquisition by Disney that star wars doesn't operate exactly the same as our universe.

Remember in The Fantom Menace when they made an exception to train Anakin since he was too old? They made an exception because “he’s the chosen one”. The Jedi would never deliberately seek out children the age of May and Osha. They are too damn old!
Actually, not fully true. Jedi had the legal authority to take any and all force-sensitives into their custody - the question of Anakin and older children in general is about training itself. If they are force-sensitives but too old, they are still taken into the Jedi order but not trained as knights.
Knights are the most visible part of the order for us, but there are MANY members of the Jedi order who are not Jedi Knights. They still use some aspect of the force for various jobs within the Order, they are not fully trained, but they are still taken into the Jedi order even if their parents don't want it.
Jedi first ask, of course, but if they are refused, they indeed have the legal authority to take them. If the individual in question is a subject to the Republic law... which is why witches ran away.
And Jedi Recruiters of the Acquisition Department were the biggest reason for the Jedi hate throughout the galaxy. They indeed took children even without their parent's consent - as they argued that a untrained force user is more dangerous.
Maybe this is why that rule exists

The writers of this show have a really hard time understanding how fire works. It burns in space without oxygen and it can destroy a huge stone building full of supposedly powerful and competent force users.
It must be some kind of special fire, I call it Plotfire. It burns anything the plot needs it to burn.

Well, fire can't exactly "burn" concrete, but it can cause it to crumble and fall apart, once the flames reach a certain temperature.
Plus, most buildings aren't constructed solely out of concrete/brick. Especially not houses. Insolating materials are often flammable, and roofs are still mostly build out of wood, at least were I live. Not to mention the interior of the rooms, lots of flamable furnature and stuff to fuel a fire.
Regular house fires have in fact been known to cause brick and concrete buildings to fall apart, though its not common and takes time/certain conditions.
@@dmchodgeNo, there's been a logic, it's just not realistic. Starfighters operate on plane physics. Larger ships operate on naval ship physics with some submarine for 3D maneuvers. Ships explode, but don't burn and lasers fly straight. The necessity of a life support system on the ship (Rebels) or as a specialized suit with a dedicated oxygen supply (Empire, TIE pilots and Stormtroopers seen outside when the Falcon is being tractored into the Death Star) implies you can't breathe in space as there is no oxygen. No oxygen means no space fire. All space "fires" in Lucas's films such as the DS2 tunnel escape or the Executor's bridge were channeled explosions.
Oxygen is not actually required for a fire to happen. Other oxidising agents are available.

The ep destroyed whatever was left of the franchise. It's a complete abomination. In the ep, they actually tried to portray them as good, as just living their lives at peace and being persecuted for who they were. That was the allegory of Headland. The Witches were not portrayed as bad or immoral in this ep, the Jedi were.

@@tay-dor7147 Well, it was presented as their "culture", their "society" that had a very specific way of life, so one of the sisters absolutely wanted to be a part of it, the other didn't, but notice that the "mother" was very open about it and let Osha leave with the Jedi. The Witches were portrayed as "morally good" in the ep according to Headland, in her mind they were good and were unjustifiably persecuted, that is what Headland is trying to deliver here. Yes, for normal common sense people being a part of a cult of witches is not a good thing, but Headland is not a "common sense" person, she's trying to switch the roles and portray the Jedi as the "evil" ones in the story.

After this show there is nothing left for Disney to do with the IP. Nobody likes their vision of it's future, nobody likes their vision of it's past, everybody's completely over their version of the present based on how bad the number for 'the mandalorian' have tanked... there is literally nothing left. They've finally written themselves into the final corner.
So yeah, i'm actually quite happy. it's one giant step closer to that inevitable day where Disney sells the IP to somebody who just retcons it all away.

To say this kind of thing wouldn’t happen in the Star Wars universe is painfully stupid. The force is basically the universal religion of course there are going to be sects that see it differently and are distrusted because of that.
There is plenty to dislike here but exploring themes like different takes on the force and a more gray side rather than just light in dark is something the franchise desperately needs. If you wanna criticize it for not doing the themes well that is fair game but don’t try to paint it like it’s something it’s not.

It's perplexing why Lucasfilm rejected Snyder's Rebel Moon only to turn around and accept the Acolyte.
Well, that's because snyder's a het cis white guy who is comfortable in his body. All he is is an ally to them. headland is one of them with all the correct boxes ticked, not only that, but she also has the experience necessary to manage the inevitable exploitation rings that disney's involved in from her time as Weinstein's assistant.
It didn't make the cut, because the female lead in rebel moon is heterosexual, and white to boot.
Whatever happened to "(he's) too old" to be trained as a Jedi? Anakin was 9 and the Council did not want him to be trained, yet here... age apparently doesn't matter.
I always saw that as a bullshit excuse, cause ONLY Yoda said that and it was like the last ditch effort to reject Anakin whom HE CLAIMED had darkness in him.
That was the actual reason Yoda didn't want Anakin to be trained, because he sensed the dark side, he sensed the very critical weakness of Anakin that could and WAS exploited and turned him to the dark side.
Aside from that one segment there was never any indication to become a Jedi you just HAVE to be a certain age. I get how that makes it easier to train someone, it's a Wheel of Time thing, it's not that you just fwump, loose the Force when you age out, but being a Jedi requires a certain frame of mind, and older people with more rigidly established personalities would have a MUCH harder time adapting to a totally new manner of thinking. Plus as part of their training they need to obey the Jedi.
So if these lesbian witches have really produced some powerful force sensitive children, I could see them giving it a try in teaching them to become Jedi, and one of them actually really WANTED to become a Jedi....... And she fucking failed miserably, apparently she was a worse Jedi than fucking Sabine, so all of that effort was for NOTHING.
Children deemed "too old" were still taken but they were not trained as Jedi Knights. There are more things in the Jedi Order than Jedi Knights, you know? To be a Jedi Knight required the highest levels of training and discipline, and no previous attachments - correct - which is why there was an age limit for THAT training.
But a "too old" individual would still be taken and given some other job within the Order. It was a HUGE galactic-spanning institution and it needed all sorts of jobs to be filled. The "too old" would still get some training so they would manage to control their powers (and not accidentally cause harm to themselves and others around them), but they would never get the treatment of a Jedi Knight aspirant.
Anakin was too old to start his Jedi Knight training, but, if he wasn't a Chosen One, he would still be taken and given some of the plethora of other jobs within the Order and given some form of training and discipline in the Force.
The idea that the Jedi don't need the consent to take the children, is against what Qui-Gon did in Episode 1.
If a Jedi won't forcibly take a SLAVE child with legendary potential illegally, then of course they wouldn't forcibly rip them away from their families.
Even from PURELY a logistical perspective, IF THE JEDI GO AROUND KIDNAPPING CHILDREN, THEY'RE GONNA GET LYNCHED BY A THOUSAND PISSED OFF VILLAGES! You know I've had people tell me straight up it was common practice for the Jedi to just steal children, and they could NEVER provide a concrete source for these claims. It's just an obviously retarded position to hold, and even in this awful show they say ONE ROGUE JEDI could be used BY THEIR POLITICAL ENEMIES!!!!?

One of Zahn's books has a Jedi pressuring parents heavily to send their kids to be trained by him. But he turns out to be evil and even his padawan is like hold up we doing what now.

Maybe you should re-check the lore. In the The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force (pre-Disney book) it is stated that Jedi had a legal authority to take any and all Force users into their custody, regardless of the wishes of their parent(s) or guardian(s). They would ask first. If they are denied, they would try to persuade (without Force powers). If that fails, they would use Force persuasion. And if that failed, they would invoke the Galactic Republic law and take the kid regardless - they had every right and they used it.
Which is why Jedi Recruiters, since the age of the Old Republic, were the most hated members of the Jedi Order and the main reason for hate of ordinary people towards the Jedi.
"Recruiters were tasked with using the information in the Kyber crystal to seek out and recruit those infants who showed potential, taking them from their families or guardians. While the Jedi did seek permission from the birth parents as to whether the child might be raised in the Order, the Jedi were given legal authority to take custody of any and all Force-sensitives."

The Expanded Universe is a mish mash of total garbage and gold. Just axing it was the right move from Disney, the misstep was..... Well, fucking everything Disney has done since then honestly.
According to the MOVIES, the ones made BY George Lucas, in Anakin's time it was a VERY big deal for him to be in a relationship with Padme and to marry her, and indeed this drove him to the dark side.
According to the expanded universe, shit tons of Jedi in Anakin's time were in relationships, had "attachments" were married, had children, QUI GON apparently had a girlfriend himself, and none of them ever get kicked out of the Order for it. The worst thing I could find that happened to a Jedi in a relationship, was some discipline.... That's it, he wasn't kicked out or anything. So the expanded universe (which also includes force HEALING) just outright contradicts the established lore.
Everything outside the original movies is just ideas, some of them are good, some are bad, some contradict the movies, some don't.
There is never ANY indication ANYWHERE in the movies that Jedi kidnapped children.
Qui Gon did not ONCE consider just killing the slaver keeping Anakin, and Anakin was a POWERFUL candidate he believed to be the chosen one.

I can’t stand how these new creators talk about Star was like it wasn’t using “strong female characters”, people of color, dwarfs, all in the 70s and 80s. Here's a big indication that prove the acolyte writers don't know shit about Star wars (to the best of my memory of Star wars legends lore) : Remember Darth Plagueis? He dedicated most of his sith life trying to control the force and bend it to his will as opposed to the jedi who think they are 'servants' of the force. But the force literally denied him, because it has a some kind of consciousness of its own.

Quite close. Plagueis intended to achieve immortality through mastering his control the midichlorians. That way, he could essentially nullify someone's biological clock, stopping from their cells from dying indefinitely.
Anakin was born when Plagueis and Sidious, attempting to turn the galaxy further in favour of the Dark Side, htoiwever the Force itself struck back, creating Anakin to be it's weapon against the Sith.
Edit: Quick correction, Anakin was born when Plagueis attempted to make all sentient beings in the galaxy aware simply because he could and then create his own spawn using the midichlorians.
The Force rejected him or, as the novel puts it, "fled from him.". Later on, after being informed by Sidious, who was himself made aware of the nature of Anakin's birth by Dooku, Plagueis came to the conclusion that Anakin was to be the Sith's doom.
@@fffx2it's from a novel of its own, but is considered or accepted by most fans just as they accept Timothy Zahns Thrawn trilogy as the official sequel to the originals before Disney took over. Heck even Disney's 'canon' version are not George's but they still call it canon.

The only way I see this show working out is if the wookie tears Mae in half.

The EU *already* did a plotline about parents not wanting their children taken by Jedi, without making them arbitrarily evil, back when The Clone Wars came out, and *that is was a throwaway detail* for the film's promotional material (the promo stuff was an in-world news website, and the story was "filler" to make it so its not all about the events of the upcoming film). A child found after a natural disaster was thought to have been orphaned, then when the child (a toddler) was found to have force potential she was given to the Jedi order. The problem was that the mother wasn't dead, just buried. After she was found to be alive, there was a legal case when the Jedi didn't want to give the child back because she had already gotten introduced to the order. Eventually the mother is so corrupted by the fame and money her being the center of attention brings that she starts craving that instead of getting her child back.

The only thing good coming out of this garbage fire of a series is the hours of commentary from UA-cam creators I follow.
Here's what I noticed. The "The force is female" slogan is really creating a bad look for them, if you consider the ramifications of their characters' "problematic" (using their terminology), actions in this episode.
The witches describe using the force in dark side terms, pulling the "string" and inflicting their will upon the force, rather than allowing the force to flow through them. They don't allow the force to guide them to any sort of destiny or path. This is a Sith mentality. They are a coven of Sith. (EDIT: I forgot to mention that they're also taking away agency from the "female" force, by overriding the will of the force with their own.... I didn't think this was acceptable in this day and age.)
Now, the surface level problems with this and the original lore, is that they're presenting this coven of witches as living peacefully, minding their own business, being oppressed, etc... as if they can use the Dark Side of the force, with no consequences of going full on megalomanic sith lord. George Lucas was quite clear that using the Dark Side was like using a powerful addictive drug that required more and more use of the force to gain the same satisfaction to fulfill the desire that it caused to burn within Dark Side users.
A much more sinister problem comes in when you consider how they created the twins, as briefly and vaguely as they did in this episode. From what I gathered, the lead witch "created" the twins by using the dark side of the force. This means, she inflicted her will on the female force (remember, "The Force is Female") in an act to create babies... we have a criminal word for this in our society... so I rhetorically ask you what this is (answering correctly will likely get your post auto-moderated by youtube's censors.)
This is now forming a trend, if you consider in recent years, Wonder Woman 1984, and how she did something similar. When men do these sorts of things, they're called out for it... but when women do it, they seem to be getting a pass, or people don't even consider it to be wrong. It's too early to really call it a trend, with only 2 examples so far, but I do tend to see patterns, as well.

The whole of the children problem could have been fixed early on so very easily. It could have been written that if a person with high counts of the midi-chlorians if not taken by the Jedi would be a threat to themselves or the community in general. Perhaps the powers developing in a way that would warp the minds of the individuals or that evil cults that learned of a person who is strong with the force would use them for their own purposes. It is not hard to write a story that fixes this mess.
The first part is literally how it was handled in the old EU. If a child was known to be Force sensitive (very young, usually discovered via blood tests in first checkup), the Jedi would come and ask permission to take the child for training. The parents had every right to say “no”. The Jedi only had the right to ask, not take. The child developing Force abilities and not knowing how to deal with them was a very real concern, so those that did say “no” sometimes had a Jedi sent to their child to act as a tutor if the Force abilities were manifesting problematically so the child would get just enough training to control his or her abilities.
The Force is a mockery.

If the parents are not taking care of their children under the age of 18 or if there are signs of abuse, they have the right to take the children away and send them to an orphanage.

Chad, Anakin was supposed to be the Chosen one who will destroy the Sith and brings balance to the Force, but he failed his destination, and it took Luke to bring him back and actually made him fulfill it before dying.
