Today, we have joined forces with Adventure Outfitter and Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful to conduct a cleanup effort following the 2023 Gasparilla Parade. Our focus is on the mouth of the Hillsborough River where it meets the bay, a high-density area for parade-related waste.
During our cleanup, we retrieved a significant amount of beads, which pose a potential threat to the environment as some are made with lead-based paint. In addition to the beads, we have successfully removed hundreds of pieces of litter and debris.

    About me:
My name is Rick Cochrane, I am an experienced relic hunter and scuba diver. My passion lies in discovering fossils, artifacts, and other treasures through digging, metal-detecting, and underwater exploration. I document my adventures on UA-cam and enjoy sharing my finds with others. My expertise in artifact hunting involves the excavation of Native American artifacts such as arrowheads and spear points on private property with the proper permissions.
As a highly trained scuba diver and instructor, I regularly dive in dark water rivers throughout Florida and the US east coast. Despite the challenges posed by limited visibility and potential wildlife hazards, I undertake these dives with the utmost caution and utilize my training to minimize risks. However, I strongly advise against attempting solo dives in these conditions without proper training, experience, and a complete understanding of the risk.
It is important to note that removing artifacts from state or federal land, including waterways, in the State of Florida is illegal. Artifacts can only be removed on private property with the land owners permission.
Have any questions or need help identifying a fossil or artifact? Feel free to email me anytime! I'm open to discussing fossils, artifacts, collaborations, sponsorships, and product reviews Email: rrcfla@gmail.com

Great video and thanks for what you do. The world would be a much better place with more people like you, picking up instead of contributing to our environmental issues.

That's an insane amount of beads to have been in the water!

Excellent clean up. Every little bit counts not just because it inspires others, but also because we need to do something about this mess we've created. Micro-plastics are everywhere and we haven't even understood what the side effects of it are on us, altho we can already figure out that it's not a good one considering.

Great job, thanks for cleaning all that up! In this day and age, isn't there something we can come up with rather than these darn plastic bead necklaces? I know it's tradition at these big celebrations to collect as many as you can, but they end up just being litter. You shouldn't have to organize a dive event to clean the trash up from that celebration.

A fantastic video!! Meant to ask you if you solely use SCUBA gear or also something else? My partner is a passionate treasure hunter and I was wondering if something like Hookah Dive System would be good as well in terms of load you carry, flexibility, time under water, etc. Have you got any experience with that please that you could share so I can plan a birthday present for him eventually :) or what are the most important factors for you when under water, to help me understand what to look at, thank you in advance !

Perhaps you could set up a petition to Stop the Beads. Suggest people make necklaces with popcorn, flowers, nuts or seeds instead of using Plastic ones.
I know part of the fun is grabbing the necklaces thrown from the pirate ship but in 2024 is it really necessary?
