  • Testing out some new fossil hunting equipment with my with my good friend Justin. The hunt begins with a few mammoth teeth fragments which would make any trip a success, but it gets better with the excavation of a giant sloth mandible with one intact tooth, a beautiful Megalodon shark tooth, and then one of the most intact mastodon teeth and mandible section I have ever found. Justin wraps up the day with a massive Mako shark tooth just as the sun begins to set.
    Electronic hookah used in this video is the Nemo by BLU3: lddy.no/eijg
    We usually search dark water rivers for fossils using open circuit scuba gear, but this trip we try an extremely portable and lightweight electronic hookah breathing system that pumps air on demand so we can breathe underwater up to 10 feet deep. The pump works perfectly for our application. Stay tuned and subscribe now to see what else we will discover on our next trip.

    About Dig Dive Discover:
    Hi! My name is Rick. I dig and scuba dive for fossils, artifacts, and all kinds of treasure! I enjoy searching for anything rare, shiny, old or interesting and love sharing my adventures on UA-cam. I primarily hunt dry land by digging and excavating artifacts such as arrowheads, spear points and other Native American artifacts. When I am not hunting for relics on land I am usually scuba diving or free-diving dark water rivers throughout Florida and the US east coast. Most places I dive have extremely limited visibility (usually less than 2-3 inches and sometimes no visibility at all). I also contend with wildlife hazards such as alligators, snakes, and insects. I am a highly trained diver and scuba instructor and use my training to reduce these risks; however, diving solo in such conditions is dangerous and I do NOT recommend anyone attempt to do so without similar proper training and experience.
    Have any questions? Need help identifying a fossil or artifact? Feel free to email me anytime! I'm open to discussing fossils, artifacts, collaborations, sponsorship's, product reviews and more! Email: rrcfla@gmail.com You can also DM me on instagram or facebook @digdivediscover

    That was fantastic! I've just subbed! I'm 57 years old and I still get excited when I'm fossil hunting. Most of mine are Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous. I've never found a mammal fossil. An elephant was found close to where I live; it's called the West Runton Elephant and the coprolite you found reminded me that they found hyaena coprolites with it! It's astounding what remains to be found! Thank you for an exciting and very enjoyable video!

      @@DigDiveDiscover We're in England but we've fossil hunting all over England, Wales and Scotland. I'd swap you two weeks on the Isle of Wight for two weeks exploring the rivers in Florida any day mate!!

    Big thankyou to Agate Dad for sending me here, I love channels of things like this. New subscriber. This is an awesome video with so many finds, totally awesome finds. Out of all the creatures big and small for millions of years how do you know what these fossils are straight away? Do you have an archeological background?

      Just last week we can head to head with a big one underwater. The risk of that is definitely part of it. My friend Henry was not on the let once and my friend Jeffery was bit on the head.

    just wondering if you found out if the mastodon tooth and jaw were 100% articulated, that would be awesome!

    • @DigDiveDiscover
      @DigDiveDiscover  4 роки тому

      I found them within 5 feet so most likely they are, but that tooth is missing the section that would have determined if it was 100% articulated

    Awesome tooth , I found a mastodon tooth recently and it doesn’t have the roots like yours but it is very light colored because the water I found it in is very clear . I don’t have any plans of selling it but what do you think a mastodon tooth is worth ?

    I snorkel in rivers fossil hunting, Im interested in the nemo system what are your thoughts on it ? the river I dive has allot of current I can see the float part maybe being a issue getting pulled down stream did you experience this at all?

    • @DigDiveDiscover
      @DigDiveDiscover  4 роки тому +1

      It would have its limitations in some areas, but for the bulk of what I do its a great tool. Saves my back and knees from having to go in and out all day with 60+lbs of gear. No issue with current and I liked the fact for large bone I could come up and toss it in the Nemo. Trees are a challenge sometimes you have to be aware of your hose and it becoming tangled... but thats a concern on scuba as well. www.diveblu3.com/nemo/ tell them I sent you!
