I've been out of Christianity for more than a decade now but I'll never forget how horrible it was to leave, and how it still messes with my head sometimes. The hardest part is being honest with yourself, and you're doing that. Keep it up and good luck.

There are three channels here on UA-cam that changed the way I view religion and theism: DarkMatter2525, AronRa and NonStampCollector. Not only is your content entertaining, but it also really gets you thinking about how ridiculous most religious claims are. Thank you for creating this content!
Take a look at the Manticore and read Isaiah 9.14. The Head aka Leo the lion, has long represented royalty/nobility. The Tail, aka Scorpio, who is the N.T. Satan, father of lies is also assoc with the dung beetle, locust, and the tail of the red devil. Remember where Jesus (as winter) is called Baalzebub/Beelzebub, Lord of the Flies? Scorpio is also the head of goliath. Goliath consists of Scorpio thru Pisces. These five constellations are five evil kings, months, and children of Shem (winter). This monster will again be killed just before we go into April. April is where Japheth covers Noah/Earth with a green blanket of grass. The Palm frond is a giveaway for Virgo who is depicted with a palm frond in her right hand (summer) and a wheat bundle in her left hand (winter). The wheat bundle is a symbol of the gathered crops that are to be shared during the off season of crop growth. Libra, being the first southern constellation, is where we find the "sea" is the reed/bulrush (water plant). The writers have clearly identified the biblical Israel as the four constellations of Leo, Virgo, Libra, and Scorpio. These four constellations are also sons of Ham (summer). Ham, by providing the crops, is a “servant” of winter and spring. Milton Woolley did a good job in his "Science of the Bible or Hebrew Mythology."
Listen to Bart Ehrman. It's going to take more effort than the channels you mentioned. No disrespect. I really enjoy NSC, but it really just gives entertaining talking points rather than education. If you understand the bible, you can understand your agnosticism. If you don't understand the religions you reject, you're ascribing a whole lot to faith.

The double gasp at 1:03:00 is SO funny to me Edit: adding more because I have to say that despite the simplicity of the drawings each of these videos is a quality work of art, the editing, scripting, voicework (maybe Mary excluded but honestly I thought it added to it) is all really well done, the cuts from scene to scene and speaker to speaker, the way people talk over each other and interrupt, it’s all extremely smooth and enjoyable. There’s a saying that people will excuse bad visuals but not bad audio, and I think your audio especially goes to prove that when you do it well it’s hardly even noticed. The characters really feel alive and real (ha)

I recently watched Melissa Dougherty on UA-cam. Her perceived mission is to help people leave the Jehovah's Witnesses by bringing them to ...(dramatic pause)... Christianity! This seems absurd -- JWs are Christians, in my mind. After digging around a bit on her channel, it became clear that she meant that she was trying to convert them to her brand of Evangelical Christianity. I have carefully listened to her video about how JWs are in a cult, and she manages to talk about it for two hours without noticing the cultish traits of her preferred brand of Christianity. Now that you are an ex-JW, how do you feel about her odd choice of words contrasting "JW" and "Christian"? Have you come across it before? Do you think of JWs as Christians? Do you understand where she is coming from? Hassan defines cults to have a charismatic leader; do the JWs have a recognizable charismatic leader? (My point isn't that anybody is right or wrong. My goal is to figure out whether Melissa's rhetoric is a crazy outlier that should be ignored, or a common way of speaking, so I can seem less alien if I get into a conversation with a JW or an Evangelical Christian.) (Also, I agree with Justin in the other comment. Congratulations on escaping.)
@@jim.h I watched his "Noah's Ark: The Story That Disproves the Entire Bible" some months back. I didn't find it very convincing at the time -- if you believe the rest of the story, God can create the universe, so He can create or remove water at whim and adjust the evidence however he wants and cram too many animals on a boat and magically feed them, so there's no way Noah's Ark can disprove the rest. ...unless you consider the Flood narrative to be plagiarized from Gilgamesh, which is fiction that came before the Flood. Plagiarism from preexisting fiction is the only way I can think of to quickly conclude a story is false even if one believes God is mucking with the timeline. But that's not the argument that was made, IIRC. I am interested in the video there about how the church leaders will try to poison your relationships after you leave. Thanks for the pointer.

This is far and away my fave of your vids (all of which I regularly go back to and burn through every so often). Your characterization of Gabriel as like, the exhaust product manager dealing with a fickle executive is so so funny.
The issue at hand is sin and God’s nature of being just. Sin brings suffering (the pleasure is short term, and the suffering is long term-on earth and in hell forever). God brings Righteousness (may have short term suffering followed by long term pleasure- on earth and in Heaven). If you love yourself repent of your sins (lying, hatred, unforgiveness, sexual sins, taking the Lord’s Name in vain, stealing, dishonouring your parents etc) & believe in Jesus for forgiveness of sins. (Jesus died on the Cross as a sacrifice and defeated death by rising from the dead)
I said this during the chat, and I will say it again. Both replies from non-stamp collector were better than heaven and I cannot wait to have s’mores and chili dogs around the lake of fire with all of my fellow heathens. And we can tell make-believe stories like the existence of Jesus or what not.
I commented in another one of your videos, but... man, your content is so good and hasn't aged at all to the point that I seriously want you to consider making this stuff again. Not only is shorter content viable nowadays, but also, the subject matter you cover gets somehow more relevant by the year. I guarentee that if you paywall these director commentaries behind a patreon, people will come. I just love this stuff so much and its kinda unfortunate that it wasn't ever able to reach the masses. I was raised as an atheist in the Netherlands. It fascinates me that there are people who believe this. I have already viewed quite a bit of content on this topic. But you just know how to take it down the hardest in a funny way. Really amazing!!!!!!
The quiz show helped me and my friend group escape the JWs. When you do that walkthrough it will be an emotional one for me - I watched it so many times and then I shared it with my close friends. It was the first time in decades that I even considered the Bible was not inerrant...it really launched me into critically examining things.

Hell is worse than what you think (I was shaking after that experience), and Heaven is better than what you think. I have also received a personal healing miracle, I can go into details if you want. This is how God works. If you give Him the benefit of the doubt, He gives you more and more. Would I spend even 2 minutes preaching if I had an ounce of doubt? (I’ve experienced way too much)

Why should God let you into Heaven? Have you lied (even once in your entire life), looked with lust at the opposite sex, dishonoured parents, stolen anything, had hatred towards someone, had premarital sex, adultery etc If you answered yes to any one of the above then you are a sinner like the rest of us. So, I ask you again, why should God let a sinner into Heaven? Sinners don’t go to heaven they go to hell, But we are blessed to have Jesus (God incarnate) die on the Cross and rise from the dead. I was born an Eastern Orthodox Christian, nobody ever told me about what the Bible truly said until I opened it up and I broke down laughing at the end of genesis, I never needed to touch the Bible after that to know if it was true or not.
Hey, could tell more about eastern orthodoxy. I was born to the Ethiopian orthodox family but my father converted to Pentecost when he came to the UK. I have mostly deconverted from protestant perspective and there is alot of info about the Catholic church but my distant family have so much reverence for the orthodox church. I feel disconnected from my family traditions and culture as it is so inbued in their lives
@@ilih5487 Eastern orthodoxy (at least the one practiced both in the balkans and east from there) is effectively the mixtrue between most of the pagan aspects of past religions and apocalyptic Christianity (at least, the Greek interpretation of it). Most of the "Christian" holidays are carbon copies of past holidays given new meanings and names. I can name one holiday that kept it's pagan name within slavic orthodoxy and that is Kolida/Kolede which is just the leftovers of a winter solstice holiday. Aside from that, I don't know If I could tell you anything that resembles Ethiopian Orthodoxy, my experience with Orthodoxy can be accurately represented if you just look up Bulgarian/Serbian church sermons and tours of monasteries and churches.
@@S_-- Thanks, it's nice hearing from someone who grew up in the orthodox church who can see the it's pagan influences and mundane history. Every time I speak to one of them there's another fast or holiday. My brother-in-law is always talking about how it's the first true church.

This was really interesting. When I first watched the video, I just knew that it was liberatingly funny. Now I know why. So many other things apart from just Christianity deserve this same treatment. And by "this same treatment", I mean assuming for a moment that it's all completely true and then unfolding all the hilarious nonsense that entails. I like to point out the incongruity between these two versions of Yahweh. On one hand he's God, the creator of the universe, the alpha and the omega. They guy who invented light, who invented the atom, spacetime. On the other hand he demands animal sacrifice. If you believe in blood attornment through the sacrifice of Jesus you must accept that animal sacrifice is at least a valid concept. God demands blood sacrifice. That's a people thing. That's not a god thing. Even if I'm completely wrong and there is a god, the guy who invented quantum entanglement is not the same entity who demands animal sacrifice. To me that sounds very pagan. It sounds like the sort of thing people who worshipped Zeus or Osiris would've believed. It doesn't sound at all like the supreme being believed in by modern educated people who understand hygiene and science.

I seem to remember this from my youth, before I grew a long white beard. It's hazy but I'm certain that NonStampCollecter used to upload to UA-cam before now. Lol. Just busting balls a little. It's still a great channel and if you haven't re-watched some of those old great videos, they're worth a second look. Speaking of old great UA-camrs, I wish 43 Alley's videos were intact. A lot of them are just gone now for some reason. A few others have preserved some of them but if anyone happened to have any ripped 43 Alley videos, it's probably time for a channel to preserve that stuff. Just thought this might be a good place to mention that. Some of his stuff is just, irreplaceable.

@CynicalDude "god" supposedly gave us free will. If it were omniscient, it would have known most people would use that free will to reject it based on terribly bad evidence, resulting in billions of people ending up in hell for all eternity. Either god isn't that smart, or it's an evil deity who enjoys allowing most its creation to suffer. In either instance, I'm thoroughly unimpressed with its plan. After 20+ years of being a believer, it was such a relief to realize it's all a poorly written fairy tale, and I've been much happier since walking away.
I get what you were doing with this video and i do hope you take the time to read and respond to this (hopefully it is coherent). And, as a response to "penal substition" and other like theories of salvation it does hold merit -so that is granted. But, for many christians, the entire premise of the video is going to miss the mark, simply because we dont see the death on the cross, as the price paid to appease the wrath of God. That is a pretty Reformation-esque idea, and so to anyone who isn't of a reformed bent (Catholics, Orthodox, Etc.), this won't make much sense. For an example of the difference, the ransom that Christ's death paid was not to the Father to appease some divine unquenchable wrath, which seems quite unlike what a loving God would desire,(and you also do seem to have an uncharitable charactarisation of the trinity in this video, but that can be overlooked). but rather to the power of death and hades - to which Christ, through His death, descent into and harrowing of Hades, and ressurection, set us free from. This is because, as when Christ touched the unclean he himself was not made unclean, but made them clean through his power, or when touching a sick man healed him rather than contracted illness, when Christ died, the power of death could not contain him, ultimately destroying it and allowing Him, and all of us, to rise again. TL;DR For the numerical majority of christians, Christ saved us from sin, death and hades, not from the wrath of the Father
Six, half a dozen. Jesus saved us from hell, not God's fury or Jesus saved us from hell, which exists because of God's fury. So you've deleted a step, and ended up in exactly the same place anyway. It's all made up lore anyway. We may as well be debating the nuances of the rules of Dungeons and Dragons for all the good that would do. People have been making it all up and debating each others' fumblings for millennia.
I just have to say that I appreciate your work so much and I probably owe you a debt I can’t ever pay or fully describe. I was homeschooled by an evangelical Pentecostal family and our church was essentially a cult. You are largely responsible for jump starting my critical thinking skills with regards to my Christianity and ultimately my eventual atheism. I escaped and never looked back. It’s been a long road but I’m actually a neuroscientist now and I can’t imagine where I’d still be without you. I appreciate your mind and thank you for your time and effort making these videos.
@@dawnatkinson7704 as far as my immediately family goes, it’s much healthier for me because I choose not to spend a lot of time with them. They are still emotionally abusive and I have much less tolerance for it now. When I was in graduate school I actually began therapy and at that time, I chose to go no-contact with them because I needed that distance to properly address everything that happened to me. I talk more with my sister now than I used to, but my parents are still on low contact. I keep in touch, I see them occasionally, but I don’t stay if they start talking politics or being abusive. As for my extended family, who I was forced to cut all contact with because they weren’t Christians, I’ve reconnected with most of them. I have a good relationship with my aunt and her daughter, and another cousin on the other side of the family. I have not been able to get in contact with my mom’s side of the family at all.

@@TierraLynn I care about you, your sins will justly take you tohell so repent and believe the Good news of Jesus Christ to go to Heaven God through the Holy Spirit has shown me several things relating to the afterlife with the purpose of convincing people like yourself. Stuff like Heaven and Hell, Angels, and evil Spirits the Lord Jesus (not worthy at all), a miracle happened to me that saved my life (thank you God) & so much more. I have a couple questions, as an atheist who goes to a catholic school, there are a couple points made in this video that I know what the clear response to would be. First off, with Christian’s cherry-picking new testament and Old Testament covenant wisdom, could you provide a couple examples? And second with the whole thing of them not making the resurrection more public, I made a similar point about how there is no explicit mention of whether to take genesis literally or metaphorically in a recent debate in theology class to point to how stuff like this would give overwhelming evidence for god. But the retort I got was that if it was objectively clear there was a god, then belief and faith would be worthless because those are built on the fact that there are people who doubt who wouldn’t exist if the Bible was objectively true. I’d just be interested in hearing a couple responses. Great video as always!
God wants there to be people who don't believe? He doesn't love all his children? Why was objective proof fine for the disciples and old testament people but not for us?
Wouldn't it be better for doubters to not exist rather than spend an eternity burning in agony in hell? Just because they rationally proportion their beliefs according to evidence? Faith is not a virtue, it's the excuse people give for believing something when they don't have good evidence. God could clearly present himself to every person, and every person would still have the free will choice to accept or reject God's gift of eternal life and having a relationship with him.
I highly recommend you look into street epistemology, if you haven't already. Specificity Anthony magnabosco. It's a much better way of talking to theists to make them realize they don't have good reasons for believing in this Christianity nonsense. If you try to debate them, they'll just dig their head in the sand and not accept anything you're saying. Instead of debating, ask thoughtful questions. Just plant a seed of doubt in their mind. You're not going to convince somebody that your position is correct in a debate.
If god exists he needs to do only one miracle and people will believe his existence. Transforming all weapons in watermelons. Anything that is picked up with the intent of harming somebody should become a watermelon. I would defently reconsider my views on him.

I've always been very impressed and amazed by the fact your videos are so good and attractive despite the fact that the graphic artwork is so obviously crappy... but you're really an excellent pythonesque actor, and I think the main virtue of the crappy artwork is to make the viewer forget that he's hearing an excellent actor's voice -- I hope you'll allow me to compare your talent with the one of the guy who does Hal's voice in 2001:a Space Odyssey: it's so efficient precisely because the viewer has no conscience that it is the voice of an actor, he just thinks he's listening to a computer... Well, in your videos, the spectator has the impression that he's listening to... the voice of crappy artwork, whatever it could be, and... hell, no!!! You're a goddam good actor! Congratulations indeed. You're also an excellent atheist theologian, and I confess I needed this "sticky side" video to realize it. This video is not only an excellent pythonesque joke: it's an absolutely convincing refutation of everything I was told as a kid by very nice, kind and completely silly catholic moms ("mères caté", in French) in catholic sunday schools (to be honest, in France and in my young times these things took place on thursdays... but you get the idea). Poor ladies, I still like them... but what an absolute load of crap they told us!
Remember, when Jesus said "Whoever is without sin, cast the first stone." He was overturning his previous commandments involving the death penalty. He was also overturning all law enforcement, as having sinners forcing other sinners is hypocritical and ignores that all sin is worthy of death. Allowing humans to create a hierarchy of sins with the "worst" being capital offenses, and the "least" incurring just a fine encourages people to think that some sins are greater than others, which isn't true.
Remember also that the adulterous woman story that quote comes from is not an original part of the fourth gospel, being absent from the earliest copies.

But as the OP points out, even those are highly questionable and actually terrible and abusive. God is not kind and never has been. If it was a human, fucking up, it's forgivable. We all sometimes give advice that backfires or just doesn't work. If you know all outcomes however, it's manipulative and abusive to give bad advice and pretend immoral shit is moral. Then again, god knows best so we should just assume we don't understand and that theists somehow do, with their fallible brains. They would follow a literal Satan to the literal end of the world if he pretended to give some nice advice like: don't stomp puppies to death in front of children. That's how -much- self awareness and critical thought I see in theists when it comes to religion. Defeating death means your soul lives forever while your body goes. If you reject Jesus then you when you die, you are gone for good, body and soul. That was not good enough since an atheist has no problem with death, so they dreamed up Hell to get people to convert.

I just watched Moral Orel (idk why it took me so long to do so) and I thought about you man. Been watching your videos for like 6 years now. They make me laugh and think to this day. I understand if you don't make more videos, but know that they are still relevant and appreciated to this day.
I sent a reply to (I think) a Viced Rhino video that mentioned "the 500 witnesses who saw Jesus after the resurrection" - and I wondered how that could have unfolded if it occurred as later recoded in the New Testament. This NonStampCollector video makes me want to make that post into an animation. Here's what I posted: A Gentile in a large crowd of people going about their day thinks he hears a nearby Spainard yell "Hey Zeus!" as the Spainard points to a person walking away, far across the crowd. The amazed Gentile asks, "you saw the God Zeus?" The Spaniard, then corrects him "no, I didn't say 'hey Zeus', I said Jesus", now pronouncing the name in the Gentile's native language. "Jesus who", the Gentile asks. He replies, "You know, of Nazareth, the guy I was pointing to over there" the guy unfortunately is no longer anywhere to be seen. "Never met him" the disappointed Gentile says as he walks away. The Spaniard then decides to stop the busy crowd from leaving and to count how many of them saw Jesus. He lines up as many that are willing to stop and asks them one-by-one, "Did you see Jesus, our God?". Each gives their account and those who heard the Spaniard's yell provide similar answers: "Yeah, someone yelled that they saw some God, so I guess he was here". That person is counted and given one of exactly 500 wrist bands the Spaniard had quickly fashioned out of the available branches from a nearby olive tree. "Next", the Spaniard says as he continues counting, begging the busy people to stay and to be counted - until his fresh supply of precisely 500 wrist bands are all given out, while cleverly remembering not to re-count anyone still wearing their wrist band. Many people surveyed who reported, “God must have been present” also were counted, having heard only the uncorrected shout “hey Zeus” - as it sounded in their native tongue. (Others were recounted having removed their first band to get a second free one, and/or changed their story to get the free band). The decimated olive tree died. Over the next 20 years, each re-telling of the story changed substantially from the original event but due to the clever process originally undertaken - retained the verifiably accurate number of witnesses - through to when the story was finally heard and written down by the Gospel authors!
As weird as this sounds I think I'd be more down for more sticky sides than your usual sketches (not that those aren’t great), it's always interesting to hear the thought process behind them, plus you can make much more content in significantly less time. A big appeal of them is that you don’t need to be as actively engaged in the video compared to when the characters are trying to make specific points and arguments. Though I understand you don’t have much time these days, but I’m casting my vote for the continuation of this series if you are considering ever picking it back up. "Hell" is the most psychologically devastating and cruel concept implanted on our psyche at a young age. Im in my 40's and still teeter between my "faith" and freeing my mind because i cant discount the possibility. Wether real or not, either way, what a horrible shitty thing to tell people. It causes me great distress even though my logical mind says its likely nonsense. Your videos do help though, they make these issues light.

About the three days thing, that's the result of drawing from gospels that don't agree with each other. In the Synoptic gospels, the events of the crucifixion begin on the day of preparation before Passover, Thursday. In the fourth gospel the events begin on Passover, Friday. This isn't the first time based disagreement either, as the Synoptic gospels have the ministry as a single year while the fourth stretches it out to three years. The Synoptic gospels were using the sacrifice to replace the animal sacrifice of the Temple, and specifically the scapegoat sacrifice of Yom Kippur for the forgiveness of sin. The fourth gospel, written at least 50 years after the destruction of the Temple, was instead going for comparing the sacrifice to the lambs that were killed in the Passover story (wherein lamb blood on the door frame would protect believers from the murder of the firstborn).
I think that Sunday still makes sense, not Monday? The phrasing I usually hear is “on the third day”, not “three days after”, and apparently counting like that (including both end points) used to be pretty common, because avoiding off-by-one errors is hard.

I've been out of Christianity for more than a decade now but I'll never forget how horrible it was to leave, and how it still messes with my head sometimes. The hardest part is being honest with yourself, and you're doing that. Keep it up and good luck.

Have you seen "The Truth Hurts" YT channel. He's a former JW, and a very in-depth content creator.
Take a look at the Manticore and read Isaiah 9.14. The Head aka Leo the lion, has long represented royalty/nobility. The Tail, aka Scorpio, who is the N.T. Satan, father of lies is also assoc with the dung beetle, locust, and the tail of the red devil. Remember where Jesus (as winter) is called Baalzebub/Beelzebub, Lord of the Flies? Scorpio is also the head of goliath. Goliath consists of Scorpio thru Pisces. These five constellations are five evil kings, months, and children of Shem (winter). This monster will again be killed just before we go into April. April is where Japheth covers Noah/Earth with a green blanket of grass. The Palm frond is a giveaway for Virgo who is depicted with a palm frond in her right hand (summer) and a wheat bundle in her left hand (winter). The wheat bundle is a symbol of the gathered crops that are to be shared during the off season of crop growth. Libra, being the first southern constellation, is where we find the "sea" is the reed/bulrush (water plant). The writers have clearly identified the biblical Israel as the four constellations of Leo, Virgo, Libra, and Scorpio. These four constellations are also sons of Ham (summer). Ham, by providing the crops, is a “servant” of winter and spring.
Milton Woolley did a good job in his "Science of the Bible or Hebrew Mythology."

Edit: adding more because I have to say that despite the simplicity of the drawings each of these videos is a quality work of art, the editing, scripting, voicework (maybe Mary excluded but honestly I thought it added to it) is all really well done, the cuts from scene to scene and speaker to speaker, the way people talk over each other and interrupt, it’s all extremely smooth and enjoyable. There’s a saying that people will excuse bad visuals but not bad audio, and I think your audio especially goes to prove that when you do it well it’s hardly even noticed. The characters really feel alive and real (ha)

I recently watched Melissa Dougherty on UA-cam. Her perceived mission is to help people leave the Jehovah's Witnesses by bringing them to ...(dramatic pause)... Christianity! This seems absurd -- JWs are Christians, in my mind. After digging around a bit on her channel, it became clear that she meant that she was trying to convert them to her brand of Evangelical Christianity. I have carefully listened to her video about how JWs are in a cult, and she manages to talk about it for two hours without noticing the cultish traits of her preferred brand of Christianity.
Now that you are an ex-JW, how do you feel about her odd choice of words contrasting "JW" and "Christian"? Have you come across it before? Do you think of JWs as Christians? Do you understand where she is coming from? Hassan defines cults to have a charismatic leader; do the JWs have a recognizable charismatic leader?
(My point isn't that anybody is right or wrong. My goal is to figure out whether Melissa's rhetoric is a crazy outlier that should be ignored, or a common way of speaking, so I can seem less alien if I get into a conversation with a JW or an Evangelical Christian.)

@@jim.h I watched his "Noah's Ark: The Story That Disproves the Entire Bible" some months back. I didn't find it very convincing at the time -- if you believe the rest of the story, God can create the universe, so He can create or remove water at whim and adjust the evidence however he wants and cram too many animals on a boat and magically feed them, so there's no way Noah's Ark can disprove the rest.
...unless you consider the Flood narrative to be plagiarized from Gilgamesh, which is fiction that came before the Flood. Plagiarism from preexisting fiction is the only way I can think of to quickly conclude a story is false even if one believes God is mucking with the timeline. But that's not the argument that was made, IIRC.

I commented in another one of your videos, but... man, your content is so good and hasn't aged at all to the point that I seriously want you to consider making this stuff again. Not only is shorter content viable nowadays, but also, the subject matter you cover gets somehow more relevant by the year. I guarentee that if you paywall these director commentaries behind a patreon, people will come. I just love this stuff so much and its kinda unfortunate that it wasn't ever able to reach the masses.

I was raised as an atheist in the Netherlands. It fascinates me that there are people who believe this. I have already viewed quite a bit of content on this topic. But you just know how to take it down the hardest in a funny way. Really amazing!!!!!!
The quiz show helped me and my friend group escape the JWs. When you do that walkthrough it will be an emotional one for me - I watched it so many times and then I shared it with my close friends. It was the first time in decades that I even considered the Bible was not inerrant...it really launched me into critically examining things.

Look ill share something personal. I’ve personally seen Jesus (Not worthy), Heaven and Hell. Hell is worse than what you think (I was shaking after that experience), and Heaven is better than what you think. I have also received a personal healing miracle, I can go into details if you want. This is how God works. If you give Him the benefit of the doubt, He gives you more and more. Would I spend even 2 minutes preaching if I had an ounce of doubt? (I’ve experienced way too much)

Have you lied (even once in your entire life), looked with lust at the opposite sex, dishonoured parents, stolen anything, had hatred towards someone, had premarital sex, adultery etc If you answered yes to any one of the above then you are a sinner like the rest of us.
So, I ask you again, why should God let a sinner into Heaven?
Sinners don’t go to heaven they go to hell, But we are blessed to have Jesus (God incarnate) die on the Cross and rise from the dead. If you Repent (forsake your sinful, unholy ways and live righteous instead) & Believe in Jesus as God, you will be seen as a Saint and welcomed into Heaven.

I was born an Eastern Orthodox Christian, nobody ever told me about what the Bible truly said until I opened it up and I broke down laughing at the end of genesis, I never needed to touch the Bible after that to know if it was true or not.
Hey, could tell more about eastern orthodoxy. I was born to the Ethiopian orthodox family but my father converted to Pentecost when he came to the UK. I have mostly deconverted from protestant perspective and there is alot of info about the Catholic church but my distant family have so much reverence for the orthodox church. I feel disconnected from my family traditions and culture as it is so inbued in their lives
@@ilih5487 Eastern orthodoxy (at least the one practiced both in the balkans and east from there) is effectively the mixtrue between most of the pagan aspects of past religions and apocalyptic Christianity (at least, the Greek interpretation of it).
Most of the "Christian" holidays are carbon copies of past holidays given new meanings and names. I can name one holiday that kept it's pagan name within slavic orthodoxy and that is Kolida/Kolede which is just the leftovers of a winter solstice holiday. Aside from that, I don't know If I could tell you anything that resembles Ethiopian Orthodoxy, my experience with Orthodoxy can be accurately represented if you just look up Bulgarian/Serbian church sermons and tours of monasteries and churches.

I like to point out the incongruity between these two versions of Yahweh. On one hand he's God, the creator of the universe, the alpha and the omega. They guy who invented light, who invented the atom, spacetime. On the other hand he demands animal sacrifice. If you believe in blood attornment through the sacrifice of Jesus you must accept that animal sacrifice is at least a valid concept. God demands blood sacrifice. That's a people thing. That's not a god thing. Even if I'm completely wrong and there is a god, the guy who invented quantum entanglement is not the same entity who demands animal sacrifice. To me that sounds very pagan. It sounds like the sort of thing people who worshipped Zeus or Osiris would've believed. It doesn't sound at all like the supreme being believed in by modern educated people who understand hygiene and science.

I seem to remember this from my youth, before I grew a long white beard. It's hazy but I'm certain that NonStampCollecter used to upload to UA-cam before now. Lol. Just busting balls a little. It's still a great channel and if you haven't re-watched some of those old great videos, they're worth a second look.
Speaking of old great UA-camrs, I wish 43 Alley's videos were intact. A lot of them are just gone now for some reason. A few others have preserved some of them but if anyone happened to have any ripped 43 Alley videos, it's probably time for a channel to preserve that stuff. If it were omniscient, it would have known most people would use that free will to reject it based on terribly bad evidence, resulting in billions of people ending up in hell for all eternity. Either god isn't that smart, or it's an evil deity who enjoys allowing most its creation to suffer. In either instance, I'm thoroughly unimpressed with its plan. After 20+ years of being a believer, it was such a relief to realize it's all a poorly written fairy tale, and I've been much happier since walking away.

I get what you were doing with this video and i do hope you take the time to read and respond to this (hopefully it is coherent). And, as a response to "penal substition" and other like theories of salvation it does hold merit -so that is granted. But, for many christians, the entire premise of the video is going to miss the mark, simply because we dont see the death on the cross, as the price paid to appease the wrath of God. That is a pretty Reformation-esque idea, and so to anyone who isn't of a reformed bent (Catholics, Orthodox, Etc.), this won't make much sense. For an example of the difference, the ransom that Christ's death paid was not to the Father to appease some divine unquenchable wrath, which seems quite unlike what a loving God would desire,(and you also do seem to have an uncharitable charactarisation of the trinity in this video, but that can be overlooked). but rather to the power of death and hades - to which Christ, through His death, descent into and harrowing of Hades, and ressurection, set us free from. This is because, as when Christ touched the unclean he himself was not made unclean, but made them clean through his power, or when touching a sick man healed him rather than contracted illness, when Christ died, the power of death could not contain him, ultimately destroying it and allowing Him, and all of us, to rise again.
TL;DR For the numerical majority of christians, Christ saved us from sin, death and hades, not from the wrath of the Father

I just have to say that I appreciate your work so much and I probably owe you a debt I can’t ever pay or fully describe. I was homeschooled by an evangelical Pentecostal family and our church was essentially a cult. You are largely responsible for jump starting my critical thinking skills with regards to my Christianity and ultimately my eventual atheism. I escaped and never looked back. It’s been a long road but I’m actually a neuroscientist now and I can’t imagine where I’d still be without you. I appreciate your mind and thank you for your time and effort making these videos.

@@dawnatkinson7704 as far as my immediately family goes, it’s much healthier for me because I choose not to spend a lot of time with them. They are still emotionally abusive and I have much less tolerance for it now. When I was in graduate school I actually began therapy and at that time, I chose to go no-contact with them because I needed that distance to properly address everything that happened to me. I talk more with my sister now than I used to, but my parents are still on low contact. I keep in touch, I see them occasionally, but I don’t stay if they start talking politics or being abusive.
As for my extended family, who I was forced to cut all contact with because they weren’t Christians, I’ve reconnected with most of them. I have a good relationship with my aunt and her daughter, and another cousin on the other side of the family. I have not been able to get in contact with my mom’s side of the family at all.

God through the Holy Spirit has shown me several things relating to the afterlife with the purpose of convincing people like yourself. Stuff like Heaven and Hell, Angels, and evil Spirits the Lord Jesus (not worthy at all), a miracle happened to me that saved my life (thank you God) & so much more. I have a couple questions, as an atheist who goes to a catholic school, there are a couple points made in this video that I know what the clear response to would be. First off, with Christian’s cherry-picking new testament and Old Testament covenant wisdom, could you provide a couple examples? And second with the whole thing of them not making the resurrection more public, I made a similar point about how there is no explicit mention of whether to take genesis literally or metaphorically in a recent debate in theology class to point to how stuff like this would give overwhelming evidence for god. But the retort I got was that if it was objectively clear there was a god, then belief and faith would be worthless because those are built on the fact that there are people who doubt who wouldn’t exist if the Bible was objectively true. I’d just be interested in hearing a couple responses. Great video as always!
God wants there to be people who don't believe? He doesn't love all his children? Why was objective proof fine for the disciples and old testament people but not for us?
Wouldn't it be better for doubters to not exist rather than spend an eternity burning in agony in hell? Just because they rationally proportion their beliefs according to evidence? Faith is not a virtue, it's the excuse people give for believing something when they don't have good evidence. God could clearly present himself to every person, and every person would still have the free will choice to accept or reject God's gift of eternal life and having a relationship with him.
I highly recommend you look into street epistemology, if you haven't already. Specificity Anthony magnabosco. It's a much better way of talking to theists to make them realize they don't have good reasons for believing in this Christianity nonsense. If you try to debate them, they'll just dig their head in the sand and not accept anything you're saying. Instead of debating, ask thoughtful questions. Just plant a seed of doubt in their mind. You're not going to convince somebody that your position is correct in a debate.
If god exists he needs to do only one miracle and people will believe his existence. Transforming all weapons in watermelons. Anything that is picked up with the intent of harming somebody should become a watermelon. I would defently reconsider my views on him.

I've always been very impressed and amazed by the fact your videos are so good and attractive despite the fact that the graphic artwork is so obviously crappy... but you're really an excellent pythonesque actor, and I think the main virtue of the crappy artwork is to make the viewer forget that he's hearing an excellent actor's voice -- I hope you'll allow me to compare your talent with the one of the guy who does Hal's voice in 2001:a Space Odyssey: it's so efficient precisely because the viewer has no conscience that it is the voice of an actor, he just thinks he's listening to a computer... Well, in your videos, the spectator has the impression that he's listening to... the voice of crappy artwork, whatever it could be, and... hell, no!!! You're a goddam good actor! You're also an excellent atheist theologian, and I confess I needed this "sticky side" video to realize it. This video is not only an excellent pythonesque joke: it's an absolutely convincing refutation of everything I was told as a kid by very nice, kind and completely silly catholic moms ("mères caté", in French) in catholic sunday schools (to be honest, in France and in my young times these things took place on thursdays... but you get the idea). Remember, when Jesus said "Whoever is without sin, cast the first stone." He was overturning his previous commandments involving the death penalty. He was also overturning all law enforcement, as having sinners forcing other sinners is hypocritical and ignores that all sin is worthy of death. Allowing humans to create a hierarchy of sins with the "worst" being capital offenses, and the "least" incurring just a fine encourages people to think that some sins are greater than others, which isn't true.
Remember also that the adulterous woman story that quote comes from is not an original part of the fourth gospel, being absent from the earliest copies.

Defeating death means your soul lives forever while your body goes. If you reject Jesus then you when you die, you are gone for good, body and soul. That was not good enough since an atheist has no problem with death, so they dreamed up Hell to get people to convert.
Yeah because before Jesus sacrificed himself, some people went to Heaven after they died, and some went to Hell. However, since Jesus' sacrifice, some people go to Heaven after they die, and some go to Hell.

Been watching your videos for like 6 years now. They make me laugh and think to this day. I understand if you don't make more videos, but know that they are still relevant and appreciated to this day.
I sent a reply to (I think) a Viced Rhino video that mentioned "the 500 witnesses who saw Jesus after the resurrection" - and I wondered how that could have unfolded if it occurred as later recoded in the New Testament. This NonStampCollector video makes me want to make that post into an animation. Here's what I posted:
A Gentile in a large crowd of people going about their day thinks he hears a nearby Spainard yell "Hey Zeus!" as the Spainard points to a person walking away, far across the crowd. The amazed Gentile asks, "you saw the God Zeus?" The Spaniard, then corrects him "no, I didn't say 'hey Zeus', I said Jesus", now pronouncing the name in the Gentile's native language. "Jesus who", the Gentile asks. He replies, "You know, of Nazareth, the guy I was pointing to over there" the guy unfortunately is no longer anywhere to be seen. "Never met him" the disappointed Gentile says as he walks away.
The Spaniard then decides to stop the busy crowd from leaving and to count how many of them saw Jesus. He lines up as many that are willing to stop and asks them one-by-one, "Did you see Jesus, our God?". Each gives their account and those who heard the Spaniard's yell provide similar answers: "Yeah, someone yelled that they saw some God, so I guess he was here". That person is counted and given one of exactly 500 wrist bands the Spaniard had quickly fashioned out of the available branches from a nearby olive tree.
"Next", the Spaniard says as he continues counting, begging the busy people to stay and to be counted - until his fresh supply of precisely 500 wrist bands are all given out, while cleverly remembering not to re-count anyone still wearing their wrist band.
Many people surveyed who reported, “God must have been present” also were counted, having heard only the uncorrected shout “hey Zeus” - as it sounded in their native tongue. (Others were recounted having removed their first band to get a second free one, and/or changed their story to get the free band).
The decimated olive tree died.
Over the next 20 years, each re-telling of the story changed substantially from the original event but due to the clever process originally undertaken - retained the verifiably accurate number of witnesses - through to when the story was finally heard and written down by the Gospel authors!

As weird as this sounds I think I'd be more down for more sticky sides than your usual sketches (not that those aren’t great), it's always interesting to hear the thought process behind them, plus you can make much more content in significantly less time. A big appeal of them is that you don’t need to be as actively engaged in the video compared to when the characters are trying to make specific points and arguments.
Though I understand you don’t have much time these days, but I’m casting my vote for the continuation of this series if you are considering ever picking it back up. Love your stuff NonStamp, been watching you since 2012.

"Hell" is the most psychologically devastating and cruel concept implanted on our psyche at a young age. Im in my 40's and still teeter between my "faith" and freeing my mind because i cant discount the possibility. Wether real or not, either way, what a horrible shitty thing to tell people. It causes me great distress even though my logical mind says its likely nonsense. Your videos do help though, they make these issues light.

About the three days thing, that's the result of drawing from gospels that don't agree with each other. In the Synoptic gospels, the events of the crucifixion begin on the day of preparation before Passover, Thursday. In the fourth gospel the events begin on Passover, Friday. This isn't the first time based disagreement either, as the Synoptic gospels have the ministry as a single year while the fourth stretches it out to three years.
The Synoptic gospels were using the sacrifice to replace the animal sacrifice of the Temple, and specifically the scapegoat sacrifice of Yom Kippur for the forgiveness of sin. The fourth gospel, written at least 50 years after the destruction of the Temple, was instead going for comparing the sacrifice to the lambs that were killed in the Passover story (wherein lamb blood on the door frame would protect believers from the murder of the firstborn).

I think that Sunday still makes sense, not Monday? The phrasing I usually hear is “on the third day”, not “three days after”, and apparently counting like that (including both end points) used to be pretty common, because avoiding off-by-one errors is hard.
