Somebody on UA-cam needs to transplant the Cybertruck electronics and sensor hardware and batteries and motors over to a rivian and make a rivian/Tesla hybrid to get the FSD capabilities and power of a Tesla with the functionality of the Rivian. Maybe would be easier to take the Rivian 's body and cab and adapt it to the Cybertruck or model x or y or s chassis while also swapping out the electronics from Rivian to Tesla. Good idea?

I love that Roman likes to think of himself as a grumpy old man but when it comes to EV life he sounds more like an impatient youngster. When I was in my teens and twenties I’m sure EV road tripping would have seemed torturous to me but coming, as EV life has, in my 40s I find I appreciate the way EV road tripping forces me to “stop and smell the roses” instead of the “gas and go, gas and go” pace of my youth. I also find my body is a lot less cramped at the end of a long day of traveling since I do more than just squeeze the handle on the gas pump when I stop to fuel up now. I do wonder if some of this is simply being a bit jaded after years of working in the industry. Like a baseball player who has lost some of their zest for the game as a result of it being their profession. I’m sure if I had been on as many road trips as Roman has by this point in his career I’d be thinking more about getting to the destination and less about the journey being the nobler part. Is EV life for everyone, no, but neither is cannonballing from place to place without stopping so that your muscles forget what their job is. All that being said, love the video, love the channel, keep up the good work and try and remember every now and then you get paid to drive around the country in cool cars and trucks. Wish my Electrify America bill was tax deductible :)

You could do a legal cannonball race, or even implement FMCSA hours of Service. Which would make no difference if you had 2 people per vehicle.
Hell, I'd probably give the competition choice of route, let them pick my route which could be longer and probably give them a little head start.
      They're still going to lose.

The context is about doing a cross country race between my F150 XLT sport crewcab 5.0 6 spd 4x4 and whatever EV trash you want to bring. Money is of no consequence when refueling or recharging. We're talking about time for refueling or recharging. That's the kicker.
I got 607 miles out of my tank, still had another 90 to go. Took 30 gallons. Maybe 7 minutes at the pump.
I could even be willing to pull an enclosed trailer with my Harley or my dad's Can Am Spyder.and you could carry a generator. Lol.
Not likely this will ever happen, but it's fun to talk about.
EV's cannot compete with ICE's on any metric unless you can charge at home and you are only planning on using it for city commuting or low to possible mid range trips. I wouldn't waste my time trying to do a road trip with an EV. You'd probably add at least a day of travel each way in recharging alone. And based off of what I'm seeing on youtube, EV's as rentals are also a bad experience.
I'll keep my ICE fleet and continue to rent ICE cars. See you at the Charger!

I have to say, as someone who has done roadtrips in ICE cars my whole life, I can't see myself wanting to do it in an EV no matter the brand. Until they develop (if even possible) a battery solution that charges at a rate comparable to that of filling up for gas, then EVs are really more for close commuting and not long trips. I hate the idea of stopping for an hour to charge up when in a gas car you could be ready to leave in a few minutes. That's also assuming that the chargers are free and there isn't anyone else using all the spots. I see the benefits of EVs from a daily commute perspective, but for long road trips it seems gas will be king for the foreseeable future. Good on you TFL for showing us how ridiculous parts of the Cybertruck are. I think the tiny blindspot indicators in the speakers are ridiculous, and as someone who is taller, I doubt I could fit in the front with how low the roof is.

Maybe my time is less valuable than yours, but in a gas car, that 500 miles is going to incur at the very least 30 minutes of stops. That 15-30 extra minutes is not going to do much for me. I also arrive less tired in my 3 than I ever did in any of my gas cars. I can drive a total of 3.5 hours round trip from my house and I don't have to stop to charge. No one with kids/wife is gonna go 300 miles (4 hrs) fill up in “5 mins” and not allow no one to go o the bathroom…and not eat. Every day use, it takes 10 secs to plug in just like your phone. The biggest detraction of not getting an EV, is range when towing long distances. You practically need a chase vehicle. However, if you're a contractor and doing local tows only, EV is ideal due to cost savings, no range anxiety, and huge amount of torque.

Their paint is thin and develops swirls the first time you take it through a car wash, panel seams are uneven, overall just a terrible build. You can't even take the Cyber truck through an automated car wash or you'll void the warranty. As other car companies build up their EV options, I think Tesla's vehicle division will close up shop. They'll probably play a role in the EV market like building more charging stations but I don't see them lasting as a car company. TFL's review is great because they're focusing on what it would be like to live with this thing.

My Model Y has a button at the end of the left stalk that buys you 1 wipe and about 10 seconds of the wiper setting menu on the screen before it is Gone With the Wind again, so think fast and maybe you can get the wipers on before you rear end the car you can’t see in front of you. Home charger makes sure you have a full battery every day. 20min a week for 52 weeks is a little over 17hrs a year fueling your vehicle.
How many road trips do you make a year. 2 road trips a years for me. Say it takes 2hrs longer for a trip from Houston to Georgia. I’m still net saving time per year charging vs gas.

Put gas in twice a week? How much are you driving each week? I have 17 Cherokee with a 15 gallon tank and fill up once every week and a half to 2 weeks. I get around 375-400 miles out of each tank.

I was amused to see him claiming that this is "function follows form", when the CT is perhaps the ultimate in "form follows function".
It's just the function is not necessarily what a traditional "truck guy" would prioritize, and includes prioritizing cost reductions for both the CT _and_ Starship.
That said, it wouldn't hurt to find a way to blunt that corner on the tailgate. Like every Tesla it's a work in progress.
