As we are planning to stay brushed, we were going to stick with 2s anyway.
I do think that this is a good rule though, and will help level the playing field.... especially for those that are only running NMH! (Which is still a fair few!)
Is there any limit on the discharge rate/C rating on a 2s pack?
I was thinking of using the 70c racing pack rather than the usual 50c that we use for general bashing.
This will depend on what we can make fit anyway, as I still don't know what space is available until we have built the chassis!
By the way, we are naming our buggy Peter, a homage to you Sir!
Peter is the southern cousin to Craig's Derek!! 😂

My discharge rate is also 50c on my Core RC 2S Lipos 4000mah.
I have been advised that 2S Lipo max is needed for everyone to enter fair and square.
If you're using a 2S then that's fine with me......
You could have named your car something like "Speed Buggy" which was a cartoon I used to watch from the '70's but Derek's cousin Peter sounds good as well....

This Speed run stuff is all new to me so it's all about the setup before going all balls out and reprogramming the esc 👍
Nice iv got a holiday buggy i built around 6-7 years ago... run it once then its sat collecting dust... time to get some use out of it, im in 👍🏻

Good to know, Peter, thanks for specifying that. I have a Tamiya speedcontroller in my DT-02, so it dodn't even occur to me to use a 3s pack, he he... I'm still undecided if my current entry is as far as I will go, or if I try another attempt, time will tell.😊

Fair enough, I modified my chassis prior to finding out about this competition to run a 3S hard pack, I got a 52km/h run with it, on my roof. Had plenty of headroom too to go faster, I wanna find out how fast it _will_ go on 3S.
I'll definitely town it down to 2S for my actual submissions however, might actually be able to use my Sand Viper body in that case and probably save me from snapping another shock tower.
Thank you my friend for understanding about the situation. By only allowing 2s for the competition, it allows everyone to enter a reasonable time to get a place on the leader board 👍
@@cw-01creations46 Can't imagine too many people are crazy enough to shove a brick of a 3S in the DT-02 anyway.
It's fun, but yea definitely makes more sense to keep everyone on a more even playing field.
I just put up a video before i saw the updated rules. The 2nd run was on 3s. Please just count my first run at 59mph. But there was a good crash on 3s lol
Only Nimhs for me unless I may use a friends Lipo. Its the taking part that counts 😊😊😊
to be honest I far prefer Nimhs, I don't think there is that much in it, apart from less chance of your hobby room burning to the ground, which is always a positive!
@@RCsoandso yeah that is true. I personally havent found any need to upgrade. If we go out with the Crawlers a single 4500mah Nimh will do a good 2.5 to 3 hrs.
I may cycle them before the speed runs though, give them a treat 🤣
