  • Toyota is known for its innovation and reliability, but it has been lagging behind in the electric vehicle (EV) market. However, that could soon change with its new solid-state battery technology that promises to revolutionize the industry. In this video, we will explore how Toyota’s solid-state battery works, what advantages it has over conventional lithium-ion batteries, and how it could give Toyota’s EVs a staggering 750-mile range. This is not a fantasy, but a reality that Toyota plans to unveil in 2024. Don’t miss this video if you want to learn more about the future of EVs and Toyota’s game-changing battery technology.

They've been lobbying the Japanese government to slow the pace of EV adoption. The goal of this video is just to convince you that any current EV you can buy isn't good enough, or is dangerous, and that a better one is right around the corner. So you can either wait for it, or buy a Prius

No. Don't mix it up again. They have been open about developing solid state batteries.
The press and internet bloated it up out of proporsion, swearing the revolution for next year, and next, and the year next of that.
Internet and it's total lack of ethics is completely responsible for that.
      Not Toyota engineering or marketing.
Toyota will simply announce the product when it's ready and you will see it included in their catalogue.
      That's it.

Range isnt as big of a deal with anything in the power range of 400-600 - but charge cycle and bursting into flames is kind of a bigger deal in my book. Charge cycles has a real cost value and bursting into flames is never good:) at least compare to range.

Check the statistics on the rate of internal combustion engines catching fire vs. EV’s. The reason there are such concerns about EVs is that when the relatively rare fire of an EV happens, it’s headlines but when the much more common ice vehicle catches fire the media takes no interest but even if they report it at all, it’s only local news as fine print, if that.

    • @alanbland1976

@@jamesmcneal1821very much so. EVs are not a big fire concern. Yes it happens. It happens in ICE vehicles too, only much much more often.

I do know one thing about what the consumer is complaining about with the EV industry. Is the high cost to replace the car's battery packs. Tesla's charge's
$20,000 for a battery replacement pack. There are a lot of people that don't know about this yet. Also there have been complaints about Tesla's mileage range. It's not what they say that it is, because of the weather. In winter the batteries lose degradation from the cold. So if you have an EV and live near snow. You are in for a surprise. Also for some reason there battery packs have
been taking on water, and ruining the pack. Which leads to having to buy a replacement. So I suggest that you stay aware of the competitions problems. This way there problem's don't become your problem's. People will always compare you to others. 👍😎 Also in Europe, the people are going crazy for the Chinese EV's that are made by BYD one of the largest in China. There car's are becoming very popular there.

The greater the number of cells in the battery and the larger they are, the greater the electrical capacity of the battery, expressed in ampere hours (Ah). Using voltage (V) and ampere hours (Ah), we get a battery whose energy is E=V.Ah. Assuming that the chemical reactions (energy released) take place at the surface, we get the total energy of the battery by adding all the infinitely thin cells dx, where the thinner the cell, the greater the energy density (E/(L-x))dx=dE

"Hybrid" systems are better said as "Battey assisted ICE". You're trying to increase the efficiency of the energy capture from EXPLODING hydrocarbons. Not diversify the sources you can get the drive power from.
Pure electrical vehicles can use DC motors at each drive wheel instead of mechanical transmissions. Dropping that not insignificant weight. Along with the engine block and complex (to try and keep them clean and efficient) fuel injection systems.

Even 400 mile range would put Toyota at the head of the pack. 500 miles would be a game changer. If Toyota can really pull this off, and isn't just trying to seduce the stock market, it will be Prius 2.0 and Toyota will be back in the game. If not... R.I.P. Toyota!

It's really not the number of miles. That's a meaningless metric in the larger sense. How much power per Kg is what will set it apart.

What Toyota wants to achieve in 2030 is already reality in China. Zeekr 001 has 1000KM range. The battery is called Kirin from CATL.

Honestly, I'm less concerned with the range. EVs have workable range at this point. It's cost, weight, and infrastructure.
Charging infrastructure and our grid has a long way to go before widespread adoption of EVs is feasible. And EVs/PHEVs are too expensive and thus reliant on subsidy and rebates to make economic sense.
Get me an EV that weighs 500lbs less and costs the same as a conventional/hybrid vehicle and it'll be a no brainer.

Toyota is doing what it always does best. Quietly observing what all the others are doing then improving on it.
Tesla reliability is pants. Prius reliability is among the best.
You just know that when Toyota launch a new product it will be far ahead of what everyone else is doing. As a customer I know I can trust Toyota to look after me. 😊

The clickbait thumbnail for this video says, *"NO MORE LITHIUM."* That's nonsense. Toyota's experimental solid-state batteries are made with a lithium-based battery chemistry.
The title says it will change the industry *"In 2024."* That's nonsense, too. Toyota has said that they hope to get these batteries in the first cars by 2027, but that's probably unrealistically optimistic. Back in 2017 they were hoping to get them into cars by 2020.

OK, let's look out in the driveway. Let's assume a 100KWH battery will run 200 miles. To go 950 miles should require 950/200=4.75 as many KWH power to go 950 miles in the same car. So 4.75 X 100KWH = 475 kilowatt-hours. Your neighborhood EV station runs 150 KW chargers. It takes more than 475 KWH to recharge as nothing is perfect so let"s be generous and say 500 KWH will charge it. 500KWH / 150KW = 3 1/3 HOURS charging at full blast! But, the charge rate tapers so 950 miles is going to cost you 4-5 HOURS at the mall charger. Charging at 7KW at home will take 500/7= 71 HOURS running your electric meter at FULL tilt!
    Duhhhh......
