Well done! This (Lord of This World) is sung from the point of view of the devil speaking to a sinful person. Solitude features Iommi playing the flute. Ozzy sings on Solitude.
Also, Tony Iommi used one guitar for the first 5 albums, a modified Gibson SG dubbed "Monkey" as he put a monkey sticker on it around '71 I believe, he retired that guitar after Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, he stated once that guitar was always within sight of him, he didn't want it getting stolen.
Yep that was Ozzy signing. I was curious to see your reaction 😆. I just watched a documentary and they explained the making of this song. Pretty wild, Tony was messing around on his guitar and Ozzy started singing along and there you go. Keep the Sabbath rolling!!!
Nice ride dude. I remember having this 2 record album in my small but astute collection. Your are in the zone of where there are no lies of artistic expression.
The cough at the beginning of “Sweet Leaf” is Tony Iommi choking on the bong hit he took. It’s very appropriate, because the “Sweet Leaf” is marijuana.
Yes, this album is the sound of DOOM! Black Sabbath basically invented Heavy Metal with that style, long story, easier and more interesting to look it up but guitarist Tony Iommi had to down-tune his guitar strings on this album to get a nice loose feel, he had an industrial accident and lost two digits on two of his fretting hand fingers so he found ways to accommodate the handicap and make the strings more comfortable, it became a superpower for him; there's a cool animation on YT where he explains what happened.
I always thought that this song pointed out the willingness of the average man to take advantage of people and to inflict harm on other people empowered by the devil......but when called upon to pay the piper for their power, they turned into cowards.
That song Solitude, paints a picture of Med-Evil castle with a banquet going on and Black Sabbath is the entertainment.
