Love these clips of Jonathan's growth. Mira treated Jonathan terribly in that ep 2 scene near the door 😢

I know both characters have their flaws, but it's obvious which one of the two has more

As much as I love Oscar's character I think the writters fucked up by making Mira the most unpleasant out of the two. I feel like the general idea was to expose how they both were flawed human beings with valid motivations but in the end she looks like the bad guy. If they wanted to make her the toxic/abusive partner they should have stated that from the very beginning and make the series about Jonathan growing into breaking the cycle of abuse.

I agree. I enjoyed the series, but many aspects of it irked me. Making the woman out to be the toxic, unintelligible weakling, is all too common in films today. On the opposite end of the spectrum, men get to be these smart, theoretical, hard-done-by, well-intended victims; cuckolds of the flaky, flighty, irrational woman. It does not, on a large scale, correspond with reality.

@@lauramuldoon4074 same. I think that biased cliche is the fastest giveaway that the writer is a man who doesn't empathize with women who react in consequence of a relationship where they were neglected or abused

@@lauramuldoon4074 There’s way more movies where the husbands a cheat or abusive or an addict or gambles all their money. This dynamic with the wife cheating on a fairly good guy and then wanting to fix it is rare in film. If she’s seeing someone it’s usually because her husband/boyfriend is like the bad guy in Titanic and deserves it.

@@pandorabox5532 It’s impossible to write a husband as justified in cheating merely because his wife bores or neglects him especially when she’s got a job and raises their daughter pretty much alone, as Jonathan was doing. If you can’t write such a husband sympathetically then you can’t write such a wife as sympathetic either.
