Refreshing? There are many movies about cheaters and selfish people. It's more expositionary than ''direct'' imho, and it's obvious it was adapted from the play.

All the stars did a wonderful job in this movie. 👍 However, Jude Law's character, Dan, came across as someone who was unsure about what he wanted. He seemed CONFLICTED. When people don't know exactly what they are looking for, they have a tendency to play with other people's feelings. 💔

That scene, soave sia il vento, is actually not very good chosen as background music, unless you take it as exemplary for the whole opera in its meaning of betrayal and unfaithfulness. But that's a very restricted version of the content of the complete opera...

Sure but the script is... Noone talks like that in the real life. It's obvious it was adapted from the play and they didn't do a good job of translating it to the screen. Too heavy-heanded and on-the-nose.

An excellent cast of characters performance. Julia Roberts shows up as talented actress °~ Erin Bronkovic~ or a self-assured photographer with strong personality traits ( Closer).

people can find healthy ways to express nuanced feelings in all their relationships, without intensely betraying others like cheaters do. everyone knows that humans have a large capacity for sexual attraction, monogamy isn’t a feeling, it’s an intentional expression and act of love. of denying others in favour of the person you choose (this would require self-control which people like you fail to have). if you have a wandering eye (i go blind when i’m in love personally), only engage in expressively casual relationships or bring up the topic of open relationships. but don’t initiate a commitment you know you can’t keep or go behind someone’s back when you mistake lust for profundity because you have the self-control of a squirrel. at the very least, have the human decency to break up with your partner before falling into someone else’s bed. why? to avoid the pain, the hurt, the betrayal. that’s called empathy.
