- This video details my perspective of the film in question. I'm using my own thoughts in order to interpret an opinion of the work. None of my video is based on claiming ownership of the original property. This is solely for entertainment purposes.
This was hard to watch. Only because you hold out for some type of happy ending. But this is how it is out in the real world. I was disappointed in Jonathan’s character. Bringing a kid into the world and pass on further generational trauma. Both Mira and Jonathan are a continuation of the trauma. Mira grew up with no stability and a sense of what family is, which was ironically pointed out by Poli. That’s why she couldn’t be a wife because she didn’t have the example as a child. Jonathan was never validated and seen, which is why he is how he is. I didn’t see growth in his character. I feel sad for that family he started. This is how it is in real life. We go through life passing on these family traumas, sometimes not even knowing and having the awareness to say what it is. It’s sad. Because I believe Jon and Mira could’ve gotten through the Infidelity had they really done the internal work. They are each other’s person after all. If they weren’t they wouldn’t still be magnetic.
After thinking about the finale a bit I thought well Mira is a narcissist and Jon is addicted to his relationship with her. He had to become like Mira with her narcissistic values to please her. He can't let her go and even brought her to their old home to relive the time when they were married. .She was Jonathan's undoing. Polli spoke the truth about Mira. The last episode was interesting and sickening all at the same time..

I agree. It was heartbreaking to see what Jon had become. There are many women who could only dream of having a devoted husband like Jon in the beginning.

i think moral of the story is not appreciating what you have tell its gone(mira), and not being emotional mature enough to expect the conclusion and move on (Both) .without it turning you into the person who hurt you (Jonathan).
Even though the ending wasn't satisfactory due the lack of closure, I feel it was the right one considering the arc of both characters. Jonathan had to lose her in order to grow as a person and Mira had to lose him to appreciate what she had. They both still miss it and that's why they will probably always gravitate to each other. Why I think this ending was reasonable is because the show was always pointing into a direction of them eventually getting back together but at the same time it would feel way too 'hollywoody' and basically nullifying any progress they made as characters.
Overall, I think it is easy to label Mira as a villain of the series but I don't think that's entirely true. Yes, she was the one to pull the trigger but I don't think she loaded the gun. I think it is consistent with her portrayal as a woman of action in a corporate world, meanwhile Jonathan was completely emasculated not because he was the primary caregiver but because he wasn't able to make any decision on his own when Mira was there. He was an underdog by choice essentially and needed that break up to grow as a person. It was so frustrating for me to watch the bedroom scene in first episode. With that being said, Mira was always trying to rush things and needed to be denied in the third episode to finally realize she threw away the possibility of what she so desparately always wanted and was afraid to admit - the stability of a home with family inside. They both made huge mistakes and paid the price.
I disagree. Mira loves how much he loves her and that she has a power over him. That’s why she only wants him most when she first found out he was dating someone and later when he’s got a new family. She wants to make sure she still has his devotion. She was fine leaving him for Poli when he had no one. And she was only really hurt when he told her he had zero feelings for her.
@@dannyt7269 I am sorry but doesn't make any sense. If what you say was true, then why would she leave him to begin with? Why go through all this drama when she already had him wrapped around the finger? They were already living 'happily' their toxic lives through lens of ignorance.
I think this show was accurate at portraying modern relationships. I think it is rather common for people to become dissatisfied with their relationships once the stereotype kicks in and then irritation with each other starts to build. Some people then seek greener pastures elsewhere just to be reminded that reasons why they fell in love are still there. It is only about reevaluating reasons why they broke up and whether they overshadow the good parts.
People watch this show and think she is a evil person but when you ask them if they would like to live with Jonathan, they all get confused and admit that probably not. There is nothing sexy about a man or woman that is content sitting in their comfort zone, lack any passion and is afraid to make any decisions themselves.
@@RudolfHorvath She left cause she wanted the excitement of someone new and she wasn’t impressed by Johnathan’s “easiness.” You can want something new but still want to keep your sure thing in your back pocket. Men do that all the time. That’s why the original was opposite genders.
Not that women don’t do the same thing. And that’s why she makes it clear she doesn’t want to be back permanently with johnathan, but she also wants to continue their affair cause now that he’s with someone else and he still wants her enough to leave his wife, it gets her off.
@@dannyt7269 I think maybe that can be explained by what Mira said in episode 4 when she is telling Jonathan about being fired. She says "I've lost that power over everything. You know that power that comes from being desirous." She might have had Jonathan wrapped around her finger in their "happy" marriage but according to her, there was no passion from him which is obviously what she is looking for and what she found in Poli. Now she thrives off of the passion of their affair and who knows how long that will last, especially with Jonathan's willingness to leave his new wife.

I didn't like this episode as much as the others until watching this.. so many things I missed.. well said yet again
I didn't watch the show either but love every part of the analysis. I just wish that Johnathan saw his value as a man and a person and moved on and got a chance to be happy instead of going back to what was comfortable and normal. I hate that he was her fallback plan when she lost everything because she knew how much he loved and supported her but she still gave that up and he still went back.
I find it so sad that he couldn't move on from her, that he couldn't be happy with his new life and wife. that he has now become Mira and made the new woman him.
whyyyy clearly he deserved better than her, he allowed her to break him and belittle his feelings but when it was the other way around, she was like my feelings are important, how can you say that without considering my feelings....ironic
considering how she had a whole affair, the divorce left him and said f your feelings only come crawling back when someone did it to her.
make it makes sense but hey that's real life and we can only fantasize about how we really wish it ended

I wanted Mira to suffer the way he suffered, I wanted him to walk away without looking back, for her to see him happy, successful, in love with the other woman, and to see everything she could have had and lost. then they would make eye contact and she would smile at him and he wouldn't acknowledge her, only look back at his wife and she would walk away sad.

This finale was a big disappointment. What was it all for? I thought Jonathan had morals.

@@utoobjh he is clearly a victim. Myra, it’s an example of a train wreck. Rather than fixing herself after she screwed up, she goes having sex with her ex.
@@il2276if he's so addicted to her how come he's the one who left in the fourth episode? i really like jonathan but i had nothing but hatred for him after the 5th episode.

It definately covered many things which I missed just because I was too distracted by the questions that why Jonathon is behaving this way.
I think only Poli stayed true to his principles, and Jonathon tried so hard to become what he is not . This thing can be explained by the Asthma episode he had during 5th episode which denotes panic and stress of try to be like Mira and all those other couples.
And to understand it further we can say when he was true to himself like in 4 th episode he didn’t have any asthma attacks there.
I have never cried so much on a show or movie, every episode I found myself in tears... maybe because I associated so much with it , I just saw myself in both Mira and Jonathan's characters. I've bin together with my Wife now for 11 years and so much of this show is us, so many things Jonathan said I've also said in my own words .. it's heartbreaking. We're still together but I feel like it's only a matter of time we will let go of eachother .. and seeing how much trauma it caused them I'm just simply not ready to let go.. is that selfish? 😔

Great review! I never caught that part about the baby and making the sound of the dog. Very keen observation! Also, the cat emoji could’ve also represented the other word for cat 🐱 which is also what Mira ended up giving him when they get to the attic.
Bravo for the explanation, really love it! But I've got another perspective when I watched this series. I remember all the opening scenes of the first eps until the last episode, they portrayed 'the preparations' before they start to act. It's like representing all these scenes are just some kind of 'illusion'. They both think; yes, marriage can be broken, but the feelings will always be there and no one can even bother. It's not giving us the 'happy ending' vibe at all, but for Jonathan and Mira, it's their version of a happy ending love. Very realistic, but all the bad shit that they have been doing just for completing their ego, it's just so wrong (we all could agree) they took aside the cycle of cause and effect (karma). So it's about their illusions. They haven't realized that the world isn't just about them...Mira could be the bad b*tch, but Jonathan, was just hiding the same trait as Mira, he just covered it with the idea of 'being a good person'. Mira and Jonathan had been together for what, 10 years? It was a long, long way ride, no wonder they are connected by the red thread and have the same illusion.
just binge watched your analysis videos after finishing the show. i love the way you unpack each episode in it's entirety, deeply observing both Mira AND Jon's arcs as their story plays out! it was so interesting to see their perspectives shift so much thinking back to the first episode. awesome stuff man!
Came looking for closure but I just can´t, guess that´s what happens in real life when you split up, there´s no one way to come to terms with the fact that is over

In the last episode I see how Mira has grown to listen and be able to understand Johnathan. I honestly hated her throughout the season and only appreciated her at the end.

i think whats so compelling is that at the core it is that trauma in both of them that keeps them together. it couldnt have been as easy as woman breaks mans heart and man moves on with someone better. its man and woman found eachother because theyre so flawed and theyre going to keep attracting eachother because that remains truth no matter how bad they mess everything up

Is it possible to love more than one person at once? It’s definitely possible to love more than one person throughout a lifetime, yes? I think that J & M finally got to a place where they are able to give and receive love from each other, as the love that they give and receive actually now works for their “relationship”. They have become VERY honest with one another, less judgmental, more attracted to each other, yet they realize that being married again, at least now, is not an option and they don’t bully or guilt each other into that pipe dream. It is now the ideal relationship that they couldn’t have had before all this “change”. It does kind of suck that Mira is selfish, and that Johnathan is deceiving his partner (BUT he said, he’s “comfortable” with it, so maybe his current marriage is actually better for him, in that he is free of guilt to act on this).
The ending basically acknowledges that this is their last hurrah, and they will no longer torment each other…the memories will no longer torment them, mistakes, etc…and that they have actually grown, albeit still flawed as we all are. They can communicate freely in this part of their existence, or episode, and that is the ultimate goal, is it not?
I really enjoyed the interpretation of the show by our delightful UA-cam narrator, so thank you. I definitely want to rewatch this, and other episodes.

I don't watch the show but I stumbled upon your reviews...so what kinda f--- s--- is this? A guy divorces his wife, remarries, goes back and continues to screw his ex wife, and wants to give his mother belated, unsolicited marital/parental advice? And this f---boy side dude...sheesh!
They deserve each other
As a divorced child the mother's words hit hard because it's the truth. But it shows the absurdity because Mira and Jonathan love each other. I see it as a simple opposition between the past and the modern era. Are they determined by their education ? Is that like a burden that unfortunately prevents them from happiness and love ?
We can see Mira cured her demons by herself. Jonathan however, paid the price by becoming the opposite of what he believed in as you say. We can see how deeply different hey are...
I like your analyse and I should watch it again an again to find other keys of understanding...

I thing it's a hard, though interesting show to watch when you've been through some similar stuff and the acting is so brilliant that yes, can be hard sometimes.
When love's still there but you're numb and feel stuck in a relation, you'd do anything to feel again.. especially leaving but Mira was right when she says that no one really tells you about the extreme pain you're gonna go through when you stop a relationship you had for several years, especially when you've grown up with someone.
I guess I was hoping another ending, like you said previously maybe another baby for them but well, this ending is probably closer to the reality tho. Everything changes but the love and the memories stay.

I couldn't rap my head around this episode. But this Helped!!!. I was hoping Jon would go the Segregate way. When he said before . His doctor said it was more important for him to have a child rather than a partner . But he went the Marriage way. In my Opinion in time. They will be getting tired of sneaking around. Mira will mature in to the person that Jon will enjoy and they will end up together........... At least I hope......Maybe a 6th episode down the line...... :-)
