    John, many thanks for posting these amazing videos. Mike has completely changed my outlook on training and life itself and he passed away before I was even born, that is a true legacy!

    Mike Mentzer took Ayn Rand's body of ideas to another level. He has been applying objectivism consistently and, lucky us, very articulately. He makes a great case for that holy marriage between the brain and the body, and the steps to optimize the synergies between them.

    Thank you John. Mike was a complete human....mind and body.
    Speaking of Mind and Body, I just obtained pristine copies - rarely opened and in perfect condition - of Mind and Body II and Heavy Duty. They were purchased by a collector when they were originally published, and have been kept in as good condition as they day they were printed. Mike continues to inspire.

    It seems like yesterday I heard about the Mentzer brothers passing,I was at a gym called Slaughters in London,I'd heard that Beckles helped open that gym years back,I'd met Beckles ex wife in Harrow she asked if I knew who her husband was as I'd just come out of the gym,I'd worked with someone who was not a bodybuilder but was friends with Beckles children,its a small world,thanks for uploading great info,Best wishes to John,family,friends and fellow fans.

    Before I had a car (never had a dui) I was doing wayyyyy too much cycling and it was eating into my strength gains. I’m already stronger now than my former peak strength and it’s only been a month and a half of training after I took about a year off. Almost scary how fast I’m getting strong while also losing fat haha

    Mike Mentzer was a good man. Annoys me so much when people say his training methods are fake? & that he never trained this way!

    • @HEAVYDUTYCOLLEGE
      @HEAVYDUTYCOLLEGE  2 роки тому +1

      People lie about other people all the time. Mike attracted more than his share of detractors over his lifetime as he was very vocal about the corruption he saw in the bodybuilding industry, and the complete lack of a principled approach to the subject of training. Consequently, those who were selling a different product, didn’t care to be called out and, when Mike passed away in 2001, his adversaries were given free rein to say whatever they wanted without fear of rebuttle.

    • @HEAVYDUTYCOLLEGE

      I generally don’t recommend books to others, as it would presuppose that I know better than they what they should be reading. If you are interested in Mike, read any book written by Mike first and foremost. Secondarily, you may wish to read the book entitled “The Wisdom of Mike Mentzer.”

      My advice would be to watch (listen) to all of the training videos I have posted on this channel. Speaking with (and studying the words of) Mike helped me immeasurably in learning how to apply the theory of high-intensity training. If you need a trainer, Google online to see if there is one near where you live and have him put you through a workout or supervise your efforts and correct any mistakes that creep into your technique.
