In this video, Mike Mentzer reveals his personal philosophy and how philosophy is a wondrous journey of discovery, allowing each of us to acquire more knowledge and to think for ourselves, rather than merely prostrating our intellect before others, whether a dictator or a statist government. I cannot believe Mike was talking about this over 20 years ago… Imagine what he would think about the world today.
I remember Mike saying that we would be told to not believe reality and to believe lies - he was so right. We are living in those times now.
People are told *what* to think, not *how* to think

Mentzer really motivated me to go the gym for the first time; 8 months later and I’m in the best shape of my life. It was actually confidence building to see someone who like me wears big glasses, is bookish and is a huge Philosophy geek be such a champion bodybuilder; I see myself in Mike and now I’m on the road to reaching what I never dreamed I could be physically.

It was his teachings that lead many to pursue careers in academia. One guy did his PhD. I also completed my masters in philosophy and established an all time record. THIS from a bodybuilder writing for muscle magazines!!! Reminds me of hugo's quote about teachers and their words having influence over centuries.
