Im a VR game dev. I'm pulling my hair out knowing how amazing the quest 3 is and how little meta and ubisoft are doing right now to advertise the damn thing.
Honestly, I find it so bizzare, I have a Quest 2 and only found out about 3 from LTT?!
It also doesn't help it being a bit out of the price range of your average consumer.
They started putting out ads on UA-cam. Got 2 of them yesterday for Asgard's Wrath 2
Wanna take a sec to add that meta is also gate keeping the platform pretty hard as it is. Getting on the main store is a popularity contest at the discretion of meta employees. There’s nothing a dev can do to guarantee their game gets on the main store (like meeting specific requirements). The only way is by advertising for your self, and building a following through side quest and app lab. It’s not horrible, but it IS very limiting and cumbersome for new dev teams to get their game out to the widest audience. The biggest issue being that it’s still a platform with not a lot of games.

My theory of why the quest 3 isn’t selling well is because it’s too expensive, most of my friends won’t get one because of the price.
If your friends haven't given VR a try, point them towards the quest 2. Easiest way to tell if you'll be into it or not

My thoughts on the matter is that most people who like VR content are people who already own a Quest 2 or they like the idea of it, but the whole thing can be a tad bit expensive, and honestly the quest 3 as AMAZING AS IT IS, it's still has some problems like the battery being garbage, confort issues, barely any new games that are meant for the quest 3 and the Mix reality feeling more like a gimmick or a social experiment, rather than a feature for the consumer, the quest 2 is more than good cuz it doesn't have as much issues as the quest 3 does. For me the limited battery is a deal breaker and finding a battery that can last up to 3 hours without a problem is a pain.
There are third-party solutions to most of the problems you just listed, but these solutions usually round up to about an approximate +$100 additional cost. IMO the cost is worth it.
@@pixistix_ true, that can't be denied but for most people, spending 100+ dollars after such a investment like the quest 3 can be a deal breaker for most, and then there's getting the affordable accessories, which for me at least it's hard to find for either they're not available, the shipping cost is too much (I'm not in the states) or they simply don't ship to my location, it's a hazle that I must go through, but not everyone is willing tho, but I know it will be rewarding in the end.

@@drash122I just got a PSVR2. Resident evil 8 received a free update that basically shoehorn it into VR. And it still made it feel like a whole new game. From what I hear meta seems to think they can sell VR headsets like phones. (Just say it's new and people fight for one)

@@tylerpestellIt’s better but not massively, you certainly get a clearer image etc no doubt but I’m not sure it justify’s the cost of it if you already have a Q2. I would hang fire and wait and see what the Valve stand alone is like next year personally it going to be a game changer if the rumours are true.
@@rangerkayla8824 I play Eleven Table Tennis/Beat Saber the most. Then any puzzle,escape room type games Myst, Red Matter etc. all standalone games.
I wouldn’t buy it if it weren’t good decent for VR fitness like lightsaber games. That’s what sold me to not regret buying quest 3 + being able to play Half Life Alyx as my first PCVR game was cherry on top.

Love my quest 2. Recently got it and I like that I can use it wirelessly with my PC to get the full experience without tripping over any cables.
You could do anything in the style that you're doing right now and i would watch it. It's short, it's funny and hyperactive and it's snappy. But please, don't stop VR completely.
I got a quest 2 over a month ago for $170 on ebay, and it was perfect. It came with an off brand elite battery strap, the carrying case, and it came without a single scratch. The right controller sometimes loses tracking, but that's fine.
Sincerity is crucial, and it's essential to prioritize a balance. Immersing yourself entirely in virtual reality isn't worthwhile. If I were to create content solely about the Quest, I'd lose my sanity. There's little substance to it beyond showcasing accessories, games, and full-body tracking. Once you've covered those aspects, the platform becomes monotonous, and everything on it becomes uninteresting.
The steamlink , imo, looks better. There isnt any if that oculus glow, as i call it. Games through the steam link look like they do after being recorded. Its connects way easier as well. The only issue ive really expierenced is that some games dont have audio, and the steam menu maps to the standard game menu button. Doesnt sound like that big of a deal, except i cant get into start menus to access game settings, or even the game itself in crossfire sierra squads case.

@@josefps0187for stock headstrap, its bad. You can't turn off camera passthrough and its always on in the background draining your battery. I got around a average 1 hour and maybe 10 minutes? just get a quest 2/pro as it lasts way more and its more bang for your buck
@@josefps0187 The headset is not bad if it wasn't for the bad quality control. I bought 3 in total and all of them had issues. It's so ass, the chance that you will get a bad quality model is 50%+, on top of that you will need to spend another 200$+ on accessories
for what its worth I really like my quest 2 elite strap. Very comfy and easy to take on and off with the wheel thing. Sometimes it wont charge the headset and it only charges the battery which is annoying. If you plug in the headset directly and then re plug in the battery pack it normally fixes itself tho so not a huge deal. I think it only happens if the headset drains the battery 100% then it wants a direct plug in not a passthrough from the battery.

Bring on other content cousin, you are not lying because VR has gone stale. Years with no banger software that brings in lots of new users into the VR space. Meta bought all the devs then knee-capped them and the company focused on work case uses and not enough on why people bought the HMD, games.

Also hope the quest 3 starts selling better just cuz the future of spatial computing needs to come sooner. People need to see how cool it can be. I think Apple will sell the shit out of the Vision Pro and then people will flock to master zucks cheaper alternatives to apple

That analyst article was published BEFORE the Quest 3 went into market. They simply reorganised their previous predictions and the analyst reported such modification, it doesn't say that the Quest 3 is not selling, simply because they did that when you couldn't buy it yet. It surely is selling less than the Quest 2, but for any meaningful number we have to wait for Christmas. About marketing, this goddamn headset is everywhere in ads in my country, even on television with official Meta ads, some for gaming applications, some for training/education. Launch lineup has been weak as hell though, that's where I think they're failing hard. Besides Nexus and the Lego game, there really isn't any big name out. Even the big graphical updates they talked about to market the Quest 3 are not out yet, we're still waiting for the Walking Dead one. Also, remember GTA:San Andreas VR? Yeah...

I found your channel yesterday and watched like ten videos and now an video comes out.
Honestly, one thing Meta is overlooking is the pass-through use. Only recently did I find out they enabled the menu while in pass-through mode, and it has opened my eyes to the AR possibilities. A simple ad with visuals similar to the Tony Stark hologram tech would be really good.
Don't feel bad moving off of VR content, we'll still be watching

IMO the quest 3 just came in too high, I and many of my friends would consider picking one up for around $300, but $500 aka the price of a PlayStation 5 and Xbox one X is just too high in my opinion

I have the quest 3 switching from the quest 2 and I cant ever go back! The change is insane, everything is just so much better for 300 dollars more that can be saved.
Bro you are overloading my brain 😭 I have the quest 3 and the charging issue with the elite battery strap but it's honestly not that bad 😅 the charging issues only occur for me when I first try to plug it in sometimes, and the headset just won't detect it. All I have to do is an unplug and replug and I'm good.

If the controllers for the quest 3 lite/2.5 have better tracking, I am most likely going to get them for my quest 3, if not get the new headset itself as well as the controllers. The Q3 is a clear and definite upgrade in every way I can think of, except for the tracking, especially in Gorilla Tag. I find my controllers always glitching the hell out of themselves when I run fast in Gorilla Tag, or any other game of the sort. If V60 for the quest 3 improves the tracking in any way, shape, or form, I will settle on the Q3 for as long as I can.
I just bought 2 quest 3s today hopefully I’m the start of the turnaround for the quest 3 it’s great so far coming from psvr2 only miss the oled screen and gran turismo of course

last year i bought the pico 4 after hearing about it, and i was a little sceptical at first, but wanted to give it a try, and iv got to say i absolutely love it, it's been a great headset so far and the display is just amazing, i used to use a valve index but after using the pico 4 i just can't go back, great headset.
I still use Touch Pros with my Q2. The Q3 hasn't had a killer must-have App for me to shelve the Q2 yet, which would trigger a buy. I always enjoy what you have to say, whether it were whatever's going on in your life, around town, or imagining what you're going to do with AI next. When in doubt, do a few random shorts to keep engaged and let life steer your direction towards the interesting things that appear. Maybe have fun and team up with someone to podcast style a bit. You do have rizz. 😎
I think a good change for your content would be to make more vr gaming focused videos, like a stride fates or dead hook play through would be pretty cool

About a year ago i said something on a meta article thingy that i'd love to see a cheap priced headset, without controllers because the only reason i use my quest 2 is sim racing with a bit of handtracking in Assetto Corsa.
What I got from this is I am glad I bought the Meta Quest 3 headset; but I also feel not buying a game on the meta store and sticking to Steam purchases that I know I will always be able to access is a good plan lol.

I never wanted a vr before i tried the meta 3, now i tell everyone that enjoys video games you should get into it if you havent yet. Its actually in a place people can just pick it up and find it fun, i dont understand how it isnt more popular right now

I got a quest 2 for black Friday. Its good enough for me as my previous headset was the rift (cv1).
GTA San Andreas man, this game was important to their launch and who knows where it is, we know by historical data that it would've increased the sales of the Quest 3 but idk they hate games at META. Not sure why, they could literally just remake San Andreas, RDR and they'd probably double sales.

Guys for my quest 2 I have the elite strap with battery should I plug in the battery when my quest is on 100 or when it's low if I plug it in when it's low it someo still drains the battery but I'm guessing if I plug it in when on 100 it would last longer?

For anyone who'd get the Quest 3 Lite, I hope by the time most games will have hand tracking support because honestly I've been playing hand tracking games and sometimes I just forgot my Quest has controllers. Hand Tracking is awesome.
I mean, a buddy and I do game dev and so some VR stuff and we're not jumping on the Quest3 yet, because the price. Was hoping there would be some sneaky Black Friday pricing on it.

if you get a chance you really should try steam link and assassins creed. Assassins creed is good enough to just walk about and explore, ignoring the main missions. With steam link, now I can play wireless vr in more or less any room in my house with a standard router. Im pretty sure I couldn't have done that with air-link

Hey. I’m gonna get a VR headset for Christmas and I’ve been seeing tons and tons of the charging ports are melting with the cord melting in! Do I was wondering if there’s a way to prevent this via wireless charger.
I don't know about the wireless charger thing, but if it helps, the cause of the charging ports melting are because of using chargers with high voltage that do not fit the capacity of the quest's battery, which is lithium, so it is recommended that you use chargers meant for VR headsets or using the one included in the headset
I suspect Meta is counting on referrals vs traditional marketing. I'm not a gamer and bought the Quest 3 for Supernatural but I loved so much about this thing that i am encouraging my friends and family to buy headsets.
I wuld have thought they would boost marketng or sales due to it being christmas.
quick question, i have htc vive, should i buy the quest 2? keep in mind that the only problem i had with the og vive is that i cant see far away in videogames and thats it.
That won`t make it better/worse, most encoders for VR headsets cause short rendering distances, you would need a really high resolution and also a powerful computer to render perfectly smooth, one of the reasons why VR tries to keep stuff close (arena, shooters, etc...).

@@neggo4290 It gets upscaled via stream compression if you use for PCVR, so, unless you go for an Index, the best solution would be Vario or Pimax 8K.
I don't use my Quest 2 as much as some. I was just happy to play beatsaber again after my foot surgery.
Really wish that they had some form of foot tracking because some games give me motion sickness.

that's weird i have had my quest 2 and 3 plugged in through a ankor 42 watt fast charging block, and nothing happens to it. tho that may be long term. so yeah i think i will swapping to the 18 watt.
I just picke dup a Quest 2 new, the reason I didn't go for quest 3 is the only thing I can tell that's a noticeable upgrade is the color passthrough, which doesn't justify the jump in price for me.
