I’ve got both of those and a top fan. It’s cool as can be on the top plates, moderately warm on the bottom, and hot coming out the back fan add on. Think I might add a cooling stand to it just for Funsies.
1. Any system that takes power from the PS5 will incur a heat debt. 2. The small reduction in temperature difference is an indicator of the effectiveness of the heat sink, as increasing airflow velocity/ volume can actually transfer less heat. 3. The ideal way to reduce the system heat would be to reduce the ambient temperature of the room or create a stand of say aluminium that has direct surface contact to the PS5 heat sink.
Hey Rudy, I'm not sure I understand your conclusion about this product. You say that it's worth it for the temp reduction, but in the data you presented the difference is minuscule (and in a larger dataset would be within the margin of error). Also, the temperatures without the extra fan are nowhere close to hitting a point where performance or durability would be impacted. I understand there's no way to capture the exact APU temperature, but I wouldn't be surprised that if we could, the difference with or without a fan would be imperceptible. Am I missing something?
To answer your question: Nope. You're not missing anything. The fan will drop the temperature a degree or so Celsius on average. Is it enough to impact the performance of the console directly? Probably not. I agree that in the larger data set, this can definitely be in the margin of error. Even more so with the miniscule difference that I experienced in my home in Florida. Apologies for not being more accurate in my conclusion. To be clear, this is a "nice to have" accessory, in my humble opinion. I hope that answers your question.
My PlayStation 5 only experiences high fan noise and overheating issues with PS5 games. For example, I can play RDR2 without any problems, but when I start playing the PS5 version of Fortnite, it gets very loud and displays a 'Your system is overheating' warning. What should I do?
Is it actually the PSU turning the console into magma? I feel like that’s the part of the console that gets ridiculous because the bottom portion of my console is molten.
I feel like what this is mostly doing is just cooling off the hot air that’s already coming out of the system. Unless they’re more powerful than I think and they’re actually pulling air through faster
My PS5 says it’s overheating and cuts off when I play 2K and that’s the only game it cuts off for so I’m wondering if this would work for it can someone lmk….
If I'm 100% honest, probably not. This is meant to help keep temps cooler, but not a full solution. You might have a faulty fan or the manufacturer did a faulty job on the thermal padding. The console should be able to run without this fan. It's simply an add-on.
Bro I literally just fixed this issue with 2K24, you have to thoroughly clean your system from dust. I disassembled the entire console and got all of the dust out. Follow a tutorial
Bought a cooling fan for my Ps5 as my kids were playing on most of the day. It used to turn itself off because of the summer heat, with the cooler on its never turned itself off once since and that’s all day continuous playing.
To be clear, ambient temperature was 77.5F as in the room temperature??? I’m just checking because that is very warm and unlike the temperature most people set their thermostat.
Great video, but you might be wrong with the fan noise calculations since 70db is a vacuum cleaner as a reference. You may want to put the decibel 1 meter away from the fan for better calculation. Thanks
There is one major problem with cooling fans like these. The way the playstation 5s cooling is set it is the single fan sucks air in through the front and blows it out of the back. In a way the exaust vents on the back of the ps5 acts like air ducts. With this product you are essentially putting one fan at the start of that duct and another at the end. The problem is this fan is pulling air through that duct while the ps5 fan pushes the air, Unless they are moving the exact same amount of air at the same rate they are going to put extra stress on each other due to the higher or lower air volume, Which can lead to your ps5 fan failing prematurely
Have you tried different fans or only the ones that they sent you for free? Just to not be biased on that brand I feel like if they made a cooling system that somehow blew AC into the PlayStation that would be cool

Should have came with a dual edge sense controller but I'm not happy with that either. I have one and it should also be magnetic. It shouldn't be the same old song and dance but removable for 20 bucks. That's another scam because Sony needs to make money somewhere. They don't want their system to fail because they don't want you to have to replace that. If they if you do you wouldn't want to buy it again ... By making controllers fail is where they keep the money rolling in... I think PlayStation should have took it to the next level. I think they should have designed a PS5 that you can upgrade. They design PS5 RAM stick so you can upgrade add more RAM. Maybe $2 to $300 a stick. Instead of buying a whole system you could just buy more RAM. Buy better Apu they have already added m.2 slot .. Or better cooling cases .. This is where they could profit.... And by making the disc drives backwards compatible, if I could put my PS2 game into my PS5 I would buy a PS5 if I didn't already. Nobody wants a lot of game consoles sitting on their TV. They would rather have one game console that did it all. I don't want to have to rip my PS2 out to play my PS2 games... I shouldn't have to.. Playstation is only screwing themselves by making people not want to buy the PS5 like I can't get my daughter to buy it. I can't get my best friend to buy it. They're just like they close. They keep closing it down. If you make it to where you can play your previous games on there and then you can even buy a remastered patch for your CD to make it look like a brand new game. That's another way they can profit... But Sony wants to profit by scamming there customers.. There's too many people in the world calling people on their s*** reviewing these systems. You can't get away with stuff like that anymore. It doesn't work now anymore... Now what works is reliability, longevity and good customer service

I installed a 3 fans exhaust to help dissipate heat but what happened is the fans itsef gets overheated including the usb that used for its power and it shuts off completely to protect itself from power surges at first I didn’t know from what I restarted the ps5 removed charging wire for controller usb headset everything narrowed it down to the fans I removed it never got the issue again, if there isn’t a problem don’t counter it by adding something might create it, get the faceplates they wont farm no wires attached install and play and it has dust filter which might help to reduce the amount of dust yes it will be more since there is 2 open hatches but more airflow just not the exhaust thing
I had a digital and a disc edition. The disc has a fan and the digital did not. The digital overheated and shut off a couple times on me. Had to lower settings and go to performance mode. Never had one issue with the disc and fan. I think it works. Unless there a big different in cooling between disc and digital
Took me a couple hours, but I took my PS five apart. It was dirty as crap turns on, but I did miss one silver bolt Hopefully that doesn’t hurt. It was definitely clogged up, especially in the power supply.
I don't think those work well. The console pulls air from the front and top. Fans from the bottom would help keep the bottom and exterior cool and wouldn't impact the intake or exhaust of the actual cooling system.
It depends is the short answer. Does it turn off indicating that it overheated? Then this could help. If not, then it might be a software issue. I'd factory reset the console and see if that fixes it.

@@dmo848 yeah lol. I work in acoustics. Anything above 60/65dB is very audible, even with closed headphones. 70 is just insane for those small fans. Probably shit quality with little to no airflow considering the reduction is just about one degree lmao. Like if they cooled down 10/12 degrees I could see the point, it'd be loud but it's working. But like this is just a rip off. Truth of the matter is that consoles should just start doing what PC cases have been doing for a little less than a decade now. Airflow holes/grills side panels with removable/magnetic meshes to capture dust. It doesn't take a genius. I don't understand why they are still doing these obviously bad close panels. Put at least a grill where the fan is located. That is the only way to impact performances cooling wise. Not these bs third party solutions that do more harm than good.

Your mesurements are not accurate because that cooling gadgets emits its own pushed cool air out and because of it your thermometer will give a lower number, but that cool air is not whats coming out of the console unfortunately. The only viable cooling gadgets are the ones you mount below the console that are used as a vertical stand.
The artic fan was very disappointing. The fan does work but it stays on 24/7 even in standby mode unless you power the console all the way off.
Ima need something like this cuz my room gets warm and the ps5 always gives me heat warnings I clean it the fan just doesn’t keep up for whatever reason
@buteraa271 look into a local place that cleans them.
I'm confused, the data you posted showed roughly 1-2 degrees of difference? How is this a significant improvement?
It's not. 🫣
But you say it is worth the money? And you recommend?
@@yanwaspful this is the comment i was looking for it’s not logic i don’t know why he does that 😂 he was paid for this but he negociate for that he doesn’t want to lie to his fans
Thats how a product review should look like! I just subscribed :)
Thank you! Much appreciated.
Unless there a big different in cooling between disc and digital
i bet it would be cooler with some dark plate 2.0
A very good and thorough review. Nice
Hey! Thanks!
Wow I would've never thought that that actually works but ... Now I wanna know if it's also working for the ps5 slim
Better (current) test for this would be to run System Shock Remake. Game runs the PS5 hotter than the sun for some reason.
Took me a couple hours, but I took my PS five apart. It was dirty as crap turns on, but I did miss one silver bolt Hopefully that doesn’t hurt. It was definitely clogged up, especially in the power supply.
Yeah. Dust builds up really quickly in there.
Meh how come you don't talk about connections how much space is there from the port to the fan
My ps5 shuts off after 4 or 5 hrs of play... no warming no nothing just powers off like the lights went out. Any suggestions?
@@FatsCaton Do u have it set up vertically or horizontal?
@th3rm4l80 vertical
Get on your knees and pray 😂
Whqt about fans that come from the bottom of the comsole not the back ? Pretty much a stand that has a fan built into it
I don't think those work well. The console pulls air from the front and top. Fans from the bottom would help keep the bottom and exterior cool and wouldn't impact the intake or exhaust of the actual cooling system.
Is this particular fan usable for a ps5 pro to ?
I don't have one, but my guess is no, since the body is shaped differently. They may sell a different version for the Pro.
@ thank you
@J_Kingdaily you're welcome
I have an issue with my ps5 turning off while using ps5 apps, do you think this would help? Or no
It depends is the short answer. Does it turn off indicating that it overheated? Then this could help. If not, then it might be a software issue. I'd factory reset the console and see if that fixes it.
I had this issue. This wouldn't help, you need to sell that PS5 and go buy a new one
@@baldlyrudy it never over heats. I can play all day, but as soon as i play a ps5 version game. Less than 20 minutes of playing it shuts off
@@dnizzy4191 you might be right man, $530 down the drain..
@@freshprince0304 I had this problem myself, it’s the heatsink, I had this problem and I had to take the whole thing apart to clean the heatsink-battery and I never had the problem since
Am i bugging..you made it seem like its a good purchase when it only went down 1 degrees
Nah. If you want more than a 1° difference, then this ain't it.
@baldlyrudy ok I knew I wasn't buggn
Ye nah, 70 db is absolutely insane lol. For like a degree of difference this is a no go for anyone. I don't care if you have your ps5 20 feet away from you.
That's almost as loud as a generator i have. So that's loud
Just got my ps5 a week ago not sure if i should get one of these just trying to keep as much life in it as i can
It gets the warm air out quicker thats all it does. So it wont efect inside temp duh
So true
CPU and GPU are still hot even with cooling fan
No, it's just a dumb gimmick that people with know thermal knowledge buy.
70 decibels! So just at the level to start damaging your hearing?
i have idea to a vide where you use cooling stand on ps5 and the fan cooling that goes ps5 back try these at same time
Another cool, more complex idea: Liquid Cooled PS5.
I bought this myself but it’s not helping didn’t last 5min in game also my ps5 is not dusty so idk what’s the problem
The liquid paste brother had the same
@iiGhost_Killa Yeah bro unfortunately it’s prob your ps5 power supply my own ps5 had the same issue so I had to get a whole new ps5 slim idk how or why it happens all I can say is keep your playations horizontal from now on
Yeah this is sad i thought i should buy the slim but reading the comments and seeing it myself its just awful

Would it put unnecessary stress on my ps5's power supply?
Probably not. It only uses 5v.
@Baldlyrudy
Could you please test the NexiGo fan?
Sony should buy us the fans!
Would help
Mine over heats
Tell I pulled the covers off
I’m trying to save for the ps5 so bad 😤😤
+ Only 1°C lower?😮
It's a total waste of money, just like on PS4, those fans don't work. Thanks for saving me the $40 bucks!👍
Hence my statements in the early part of the video. And you're welcome. 👍
1 to 1.5 difference in degrees? nah... Also these kind of cooler are actually block the exit of the ps5 fan.
Bro can i buy any design of attaching cooling fan or i need to buy specific can u give me the best brand
Better off buying a small table fan and put it by the ps5 and run it while playing. Cheaper and does a better job
After 3 years of hardcore gaming all a sudden my PS5 is having overheat issues. Worst part is i took it to a repair shop and they deemed it good to go, lasted 3 days before the issue was back. Idk what to do. This is absurd. Shame on Sony. PS5 is the new Xbox 360. Get the word out.
But aren’t cooling fans bad thou? It’s pushing the air back inside where the air comes out.?
07:09
absolute legend this is what i was looking for much appreciated subbed :D
I just sit a tower fan in front of it,no more overheating!
I'm seeing alot of faceplate for the ps5 that ha e fans as well are those worth it? Does anyone know? Also I keep mine in like a little cubby which has an open back but it still gets a little warm would it be worth it then? And do the ones in the video work for the slim?
We just need it for slim version now
We do
1.1 degree max difference for 60$? I'm good.. not sure why you think this is worth it unless that company is paying you to say that 🤔
Your mesurements are not accurate because that cooling gadgets emits its own pushed cool air out and because of it your thermometer will give a lower number, but that cool air is not whats coming out of the console unfortunately. The only viable cooling gadgets are the ones you mount below the console that are used as a vertical stand.
To bad most bank cards will not let you buy this since it is overseas
Celsius > Fahrenheit
The artic fan was very disappointing. The fan does work but it stays on 24/7 even in standby mode unless you power the console all the way off. After 3 weeks when I turned on my PS5 the fan now makes weird loud noises sounding like the fans are struggling to get to operating speeds. Would not recommend
Sounds like a bad ball bearing. Also, the fans can be turned off when in rest mode. There's a USB power setting that just needs to be changed.
@@baldlyrudy yep I did adjust the settings so items plugged into the USB ports would not have power while in rest mode but it was a couple of weeks after that is when the noise started.
My ps5 runs at 125 degrees.. y are y’all ps5 are at 150 🤯.. that’s crazy
Laptop cooling pad might work better. Imma have to try it😂
🤣
1 celceus???
That's it?
That's it.
my ps5 is 6 months old and has maybe 200 hours on it and it gets soo hot i can feel the heat coming up from the ps5 under my desk...i just rebuilt my compter for this reason and kinda angry at sony for making such a shitty console
Pretty useless if it cools it down to 1 degree
That isn't great performance lol.
So hardly even 1⁰c change and you think this did a good job?
Its like ps5 don't need fan just 1 degree 😂
1C difference… rip
no, as i dont have a PS5.
Well that'll stop you. 😅

what a horrible product!
If it’s not recommended by the company who made the console DONT USE IT, end of story.
I’d care about this if the console wasn’t falling apart all on its own. Sony scammed us. Ps5 is the new xbox 360.
