Can confidently say that if homework isn't counted towards for grade, most students won't do it. During covid my geometry teacher handed daily homework that I would occasionally do if I was bored but it wasn't for a grade so I mostly didn't do it
I actually prefer this, as the in-class grades would still reflect the students' performances with the subject. Some people don't need the extra practice homework affords, while others do.

I can’t imagine how stressful it is to be a teacher and have people, especially parents get mad at you constantly for things like your body’s features or giving your students a zero for missing homework. I remember hearing teachers have lost their passion for teaching students or college kids are afraid of becoming teachers because of this behavior.
Pay has been an issue for awhile but benefits and all the time they get off has traditionally offset that, but treatment by the administration, parents, and students is starting to drive teachers away at an insane rate and COVID only made things worse. It's depressing how many videos there are of both newer teachers and older veterans quitting because of mistreatment and stories like this where they're fired over nothing beyond parents whining to try and get their way.
