For clarification regarding the Titan, it's not just the Titan that used a controller like that. Controllers are currently used with a lot of applications in the real world. The Army uses them to pilot their drones; the Navy uses them to pilot their ROVs and drones as well. Just thought I'd share

1:49 A lot of government organisations use Xbox and PlayStation controllers to pilot various devices like drones since they're relatively cheap and work pretty well so using a game controller is quite common but the main problem is that it was wireless, so if the Bluetooth connection is lost, they lose control of the submarine. Even so they should have probably used something a tad better than the third party controller that you give to your younger brother to make him happy.

If you give them like $2, next tip is also like $2, they just made under min wage to get you your food. Don't like it, don't use those services so that tipping culture can die out and you don't have to worry about that anymore. Most dashers will tell you something like "I don't move my car for less than X$, it's just not worth it." But yeah if you're tipping literally less than the gas cost to get yourself there, that's 100% still the business's fault for shafting drivers, but you're still not helping matters.

almost all semi autonomous devices use basic controllers, especially during development. All FIRST robots use gamepads, they're cheap, reliable, and work with most devices. the gamepad, was probably the most reliable part of the submarine. whatever went wrong, it wasn't the controller
