Hey so those slider pins are useful for people who are nonverbal, especially when anxious, if they are autistic, or have chronic social anxiety. It is kinda like a social version of a Medical ID Bracelet. It tells people how likely you are to interact with them, and if you need space. However, there are definitely people who make that sorta thing their entire personality, and yeah, that is a bit cringe.
I bet you anything it's the tiktok disorder fakers who are gonna buy those and make them their personalities- My brother's got autism, and I genuinely considered getting him an overstimulated pin since he gets overstimulated very easily and often times I've gotta guide him away from the situation because my family doesn't understand. A few of them were a little cringe though (the existential dread and no effs given ones) but I can see why people liked them
I actually like that overstimulating pin thing if someone is shutting down it could easily communicate that they are overstimulated and that they are uncomfortable sure some of those pins are cringe like the "fucks given" one but some of them are genuinely useful
The person who made them went on Twitter to talk about how they're getting a ton of rude messages now because of that post, and how they're losing a lot of income because of it too.
As someone who struggles with my emotions due to having a slurry of anxiety, adhd, and autism, having an anxiety scale pin would be nice because when I get too anxious I lash out at people. If not at public atleast at home. So the pins aren't a bad idea, I just don't like how, cutesy-fied they are. It's like they're trying to make these life-changing, even frustratingly overwhelming disorders into a fucking aesthetic. Anxiety isn't a cutesy aesthetic. At that point just make it look like a plain scale, at least then it might have some semblance of professionalism to it incase people actually try using those for those who struggle expressing themselves.
That’s a great point. Anxiety isn’t a quirky little habit. It’s terrible. I hate it. Edit: It looks very childish like people with anxiety/adhd/autism/etc are all dumb immature toddlers
5:20, I love how they’re like “oh im not helping them because they aren’t a minority” that’s just as racist as saying the same thing to a minority “they’re black im not helping them”
7:01 I was suspended a lot of elementary school. Y’all need to keep in mind that kids aren’t always bad because they have bad influences around them. Some kids have mental problems.
I was kind of like that in my early years of elementary school due to the fact of me having at the time undiagnosed ADHD and was the target of lots of bullying.
But you don't need the "f*cks given" scale do you? The person that made those scales is not targeting the people that actually need them. They're targeting the people that want to use them for an aesthetic or something
@@S1LK_incorrect! U act as if ppl with issues can’t joke? Also I could gen see “fucks given” help someone for exp with adhd and want to warn others that simply they don’t really care? 2:10 Hey, as an autistic person who goes nonverbal when overstimulated these can actually be a good thing to notify others simply and easily how you feel. Just because YOU don’t use/understand it does NOT mean it’s shameful or doesn’t have its place! I really like these kinds of videos since most times it’s shitting on people who are doing actually bad or dangerous things, but this is unnecessary. You don’t have to interact with anyone wearing them, and I would most likely use these to communicate with friends/family, not strangers I don’t know. There is absolutely no point to bully this! They aren’t hurting anyone and they’re useful to people who need them, it’s not for you! You don’t have to use or interact with anyone using them! These are most often for disabled people who can’t clearly communicate with words, because, not everyone can fucking use their words! The majority of the pins here use terms that are literally clinically used to describe symptoms people have, and these would be used to communicate to the people you’re with how you feel. You are not criticizing the people who expect complete strangers to fully read and know what to do with these, you are criticizing normal people who use these as a communication tool so people they know can understand how they are feeling and/or what to do! Do not speak about what you don’t understand! I apologize for getting heated but I’m really disappointed to see this, I don’t mean hate I’m simply frustrated and want to show that this isn’t okay!
He should be clowning on the neurotypicals who end up having these resources taken away from those who need it, some school won't let you wear those pins since they're 'distracting' :| 2:10
@@skootergirl22 I can assure you it isn’t, since those are usually injunction with ableist messaging (ex: the puzzle piece symbol) and can infantilize people who are autistic (depending on the circumstance, it’s not always the case) and often aren’t actually made by autistic people. Most of the time these kinds of pins are made by and for disabled people, not abled people doing what they think disabled people “want”. I’m not trying to argue with you, just trying to explain my view as a disabled person who finds these things really useful for communicating.
I agree. Sure, some of the sliders were cringe (like that Existential Dread one was just unnecessary) but the non-verbal and overstimulation sliders can be really useful for people with autism, and it's even MORE cringe to bully someone who genuinely needs them. I love Ailurus' vids, but that particular part was just a bad take all around.
9:20 Earlier I was screwing around with Chatgpt and I’ve come to the conclusion that all chatbots have secret SJW programming. At least it can explain things in “Monkey Banana terms”
9:52 Dude Jimi Hendrix, who was black and widely known as the greatest guitarist to ever exist, did have a white drummer (Mitch Mitchell) for almost his entire career.
I actually have think the pins are a good thing for adults who have autism, have anxiety/depression or medical issues. Like the Exhaustion scale, Overstimulation scale, Anxiety scale, and possibly Migraine scale can be used to gauge how someone feels when they can't show that psychically. Of course the Existential Dread and Fucks Given is a bit ridiculous but a few of these pins can be helpful.
2:26 this is the one thing I disagree with you on. Sometimes I can’t speak. I personally use a “Sometimes I can’t speak” when I’m in public cause of autism and social anxiety.
So… the rate pins are actually useful for nonverbal communication. My mom has a coworker who’s son is nonverbal and autistic, he uses one of those at school to show his teachers how he’s doing and feeling. Honestly I kinda like the idea of them, too. At least the non sarcastic or QUirkY ones.
Those stress level sliders are actually pretty useful if you're going through a non verbal day, it's actually pretty cringe to bully someone over using one
The person who makes them has been recieving terrible messages from people and losing a lot of their income because of that one post on Twitter, it's terrible.
Sorry but as someone who's nonverbal at times and autistic, I WOULDN'T use them 💀 the real world and job force ain't gonna care about some anxiety scale, they're stupid and just gonna cause you to get bullied or fired, y'all really need to learn to just speak up for yourselves, a meter shouldn't solve those problems for you.
@@plaguequeen7533 imo i could see the use for younger people but once you’re older you should just let people know you sometimes go non-verbal so when that does happen it isn’t a shock or anything
on the overstimulation pin: many people who are disabled (which is the target demographic of that pin) experience overstimulation. one common symptom/ side effect of that is going temporarily mute. so no, they really cant use their words. others may simply be non verbal. im not holding this against you, its pretty likely you weren't aware of this. however, if you see a product that looks useless, it likely isnt made for you.
To be completely fair to PH, there isn't a way to enforce the age thing without some extreme privacy violations. If I had to give my ID to anyone for something like that, I'd go to another site. That's just another Ashley Maddison waiting to happen
I have anxiety, and I suck at telling people how I feel, but even I feel like the scale pin is too much. I'd rather just say "i'm feeling anxious rn, can I go?" Than do all that
i find the fact that the mother was blaming the suspensions on the school annoying, i was a little shit most of my days in school and got suspended a lot (13 times a year at first) after my dad was informed i had to go to work with him. he worked construction. after 3 days of moving concrete, suddenly my behavor improved. its almost like if you punish your child instead of letting them play games all day when they get suspended, they go "hey, maybe i shouldnt get suspended"
So, this has more layers than it shows and I'm more surprised learning about this. Charter schools kinda don't have programs for special needs kids. The kid in question is autistic and was very prone to panic attacks and fits due to overstimulation. Because the schools in New York City, where the mom is from, are charter schools, they have more leeway to suspend kids rather than provide some form of assistance.
The pornhub thing is a bit different than depicted on the news. Utah is asking pornhub check IDs to be on the site, and Pornhub and many services do not want to handle your government information because a security breach could ruin a lot of lives (and lose them a lot of money for mishandling said information). This makes sense. I would not want to process and check IDs through the internet on an illicit website, nor would I want to put my ID in the website.
These pins just scream "my mental illness is my entire personality and I want everyone to always be focused on me and my needs". By wearing these you're expecting people around you to constantly check your little scale and focus on your feelings and your needs. People aren't there to accomodate you, they have their own feelings and needs to deal with. Stop being so self-centered.
You cant get mad when someone follows the rules that you made, open relationships are for people who are ok with it, not for people that are crying for an ego boost.
2:09 okay, but what if, someone whos been dignosed with autism *by a professional* wears one who is prone to not being able to speak when overwhelmed or gets easily overwhelmed and has frequent meltdown? hmmmmmmmmmmm?? i need answers here, serious ones
7:03 I go to success academy (charter school) and they are pretty chill about suspensions. They have rules and they are pretty clear of what will happen if you break it. This is stupid.
9:37 why he gotta bring Tiny Tim into this? He's responsible for some extremely iconic music. I mean he did "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" and the ukulele music from SpongeBob as well. Do not disrespect my mans
I really hope things improve towards: How things are able to claim "historical documentary?" Or historical media depictions. People can make media but there needs to be a "Bar to what qualifies for accurate media, so we dont teach the youth modern day made up crap. Historical events should be difficult, old footage, learning events about when things were different time's." We shouldn't alternate history just because we nowadays find it "difficult" we need to learn from those difficult time's. Which is the opposite of what this weird current day situation of hyper sensitivities, & extreme opinions on either end of the spectrum are currently causing.
Honestly I don't think the sliders are that cringe. Some of them, yeah. Most though are actually helpful for those that are neurodiverse and may not be able to properly communicate how they're feeling. It's a simple way to express that and I think it's fine for everyone to use in general. Just don't think they'd should have stupid sayings on them though.
3:02 The thing is, what you've gotta pay attention too is the legs. Specifically, the front legs. Those are HUMAN legs, and we all know what comes between a womans legs.
6:50 if her first grade child got suspended 20 times the previous year, that means he either got held back because of all those suspensions, or he got suspended 20 times while in kindergarten...I dont know which is worse.
I have Asperger's and when I get very stressed (under- or overstimulated), I often lose the ability to speak or communicate in any easily understandable way and sometimes just dissociate and switch to a weird state of hostile autopilot so while a lot of them do seem cringe and useless, I would love to have one of those pins so I could just point to it without making me even more stressed about not being able to let anyone know what's wrong. It would be a lifesaver to be able adjust a status bar right before or during an emergency so if you really go out of it, people would be able to help. I can see it being particularly helpful for people with some sort of medical conditions like heart issues or smth when you can feel that something's coming and basically have a sign on you to cut down some time in people figuring out what's happening. That person using neurodivergence to excuse drunk driving is exceptionally full of shit. She gives everyone under this umbrella a bad rap and we're already struggling enough as is. We do not claim this person. I would rather just suffer the anxiety and take a bus than drive when drunk. I don't drive nor drink alcohol because of said anxiety but you get the point. You need to be responsible and held accountable when you do shit that stupid.
4:03 that's not what she said. She said he took her virginity, *_then_* started scrolling tinder. He could have picked her up irl for all we know; where and how they met was never specified.
2:31 I have to disagree here. Some people struggle and need different coping mechanisms and there is nothing wrong with that. Not everyone has the chance to learn how to communicate healthily as a teen or child, and these pins can help people learn. Also, notice how some say “dissociation” and “overstimulation”, both of which can be caused by mental illnesses/disorders that the person has no control over and is learning how to manage. There is nothing cringe about struggling to communicate and needing different outlets. If anything, good on the people using these for finding a way to express themselves! Some people have different needs, and that’s okay. They can also be a step in the right direction while learning how to communicate. It’s not harming anyone, so let them be.
Yeah I like it too, especially as someone who isn’t good at telling people what I’m feeling or to go away without sounding rude I feel like it would help a lot.
2:03 online or not I usually have trouble using words for anything feeling related so yeah, I can't use my words to let people know how I feel. this would be kind of helpful if it was more socially accepted instead of having people guess what my mood is

I'm not non verbal but I do shutdown sometimes and those pins would be really helpful to communicate my feelings
Or influencers use them for attention when they try to act like they're mentally unwell and that ruins it for everyone else
It's amazing for people who are non verbal but people be using them to seem quirky.
I bet you anything it's the tiktok disorder fakers who are gonna buy those and make them their personalities-
My brother's got autism, and I genuinely considered getting him an overstimulated pin since he gets overstimulated very easily and often times I've gotta guide him away from the situation because my family doesn't understand.
A few of them were a little cringe though (the existential dread and no effs given ones) but I can see why people liked them
@@GoldenWildcard48 yeah but they're still useful
I actually like that overstimulating pin thing if someone is shutting down it could easily communicate that they are overstimulated and that they are uncomfortable sure some of those pins are cringe like the "fucks given" one but some of them are genuinely useful
"can't you just use your voice" no I really can't, especially when I'm so stressed I'm on autopilot
I second this, some of those are cringe but Ailurus had a bad take with the others.
@@thespicecorner i'd say like 95% of those pins are useless as shit, the depression / anxiety ones can be a somehow helpful.
The person who made them went on Twitter to talk about how they're getting a ton of rude messages now because of that post, and how they're losing a lot of income because of it too.
I would even argue the pronoun one is kinda cool, as someone who's genderfluid.

2:06 As an autistic person, the anxiety and overstimulation ones would unironically help me.
Same :/
But you don't need the "f*cks given" scale do you? The person that made those scales is not targeting the people that actually need them. They're targeting the people that want to use them for an aesthetic or something

Hey, as an autistic person who goes nonverbal when overstimulated these can actually be a good thing to notify others simply and easily how you feel.
It's like those. *Please be patient with the fact I have autism* hats
Normally when people online claim to be autistic I call cap, but I can tell you ain't lying with that whole ahh short form essay you wrote

The person who makes them has been recieving terrible messages from people and losing a lot of their income because of that one post on Twitter, it's terrible.
Just talk instead tho unless you’re mute talking wouldn’t kill you
Sorry but as someone who's nonverbal at times and autistic, I WOULDN'T use them 💀 the real world and job force ain't gonna care about some anxiety scale, they're stupid and just gonna cause you to get bullied or fired, y'all really need to learn to just speak up for yourselves, a meter shouldn't solve those problems for you.
@@staringcorgi6475 agreed, we're grown ass adults for crying out loud, time to face adult hood

3:45 Supposedly it's more about how it's effectively unenforceable, so the only way to comply is to completely remove yourself from that area.
9:36 💀 the switch up is insane
These pins just scream "my mental illness is my entire personality and I want everyone to always be focused on me and my needs". By wearing these you're expecting people around you to constantly check your little scale and focus on your feelings and your needs. People aren't there to accomodate you, they have their own feelings and needs to deal with. Stop being so self-centered.

I don't care what you were told in school, Martin Luther King was white.
