      I actually think that in the fixer upper song the trolls tried to warn Anna about Hans because they knew what Hans motive was.
      The real villan was Han's Family .
      Being bullied by his own family for 20 years made him lose the ability to have feelings. Though I disgust at what he tried to do to Elsa and Anna, I understand the reason why he did such a thing.

    For all of you who didn’t know there is a book called “A Frozen Heart” it’s a Disney cannon book about the movie Frozen. It shared a little more depth about Elsa, Anna and Hans. In the book it is confirmed Hans had come from a horrible childhood. Even though he was royalty his father never cared for him, and his brothers would beat him and abuse him except only one. His brother Lars. Three years before the coronation and after finding out about Elsa’s parents death, his brother Lars suggested Hans in the idea of him going to Arandelle and marrying Queen Elsa so he can be in line for a throne. He was 13th in line so he wasn’t close to marrying or even becoming King. He never knew about Elsa having winter powers or anything. He became a whole different person when he realized Elsa had issues and finding a man was the least of her issues and also the fear of returning to his father as a failure overcame him. So yeah. Hans wasn’t born or planned to be evil. He just took advantage of the situation after he heard the words “you are all Arandelle will have left.”

Not unless the only way to remove true love from one's heart and mind (remember, changing the heart is harder than the mind) is to remove all ability to love from him, thus turning him evil (with Anna's life put in unforeseen jeopardy)

    Originally, ELSA was supposed to be the villain, but Disney decided they didn't want to do that and switched to Hans instead. Of course, they were also able to use it to break away from their "marry the first prince you meet" tradition to give it a "modern" spin to play to the audiences (kinda like how they made Merida from Brave want to be independent and NOT want to marry).
    I love the theory where Hans is cursed by the trolls. THAT makes the most sense and has the most complexity to me. :D

      They were definitely intending for Elsa to be the villain at first (ua-cam.com/video/jZyWuFsGcgg/v-deo.html), but decided-for reasons that have either never been stated or that simply have slipped my mind-to make her good instead, but still needed a villain because Disney. So they decided to go with Hans for god knows what reason. This is why the whole plot twist makes no sense; they made this change halfway through production and added in subtle attempts at retconning (such as the glance up at 1:52) to try to make it somewhat believable; and then did more retconning in interviews. If Hans had been the intended villain from the start, his character would not have been so inconsistent.

      If that was the case, then they could've kissed but it wouldn't work. Because it's not true love, and it's clearly shown the the act of true love doesn't have to be a kiss, but rather putting other's before yourself. But not much we can do about it now.

    Okay but Hans is 13th in line. The easiest way to take the throne is actually to marry in, which makes quite a bit of sense. But he just wants to be king. He can't marry Elsa because she is obviously so shut out (and because she wouldnt want a husband per say). She literally had her and her sister shut away inside the castle. Hans was probably willing to be kind and loving and a good ruler in general. That makes complete sense to show his kindness and reaction when he first met anna, but when he learned that she was a princess and her sister was the queen, he had a change of heart. "Hey, there's a chick that doesnt want a husband, its obvious that i need to get into the line through her sister. But Anna wouldn't be queen until Elsa dies, so how do I do this without getting caught for treason.
    Hans didn't do anything but follow along with Anna's naive true love bit, he might even had liked her a bit too. When he found out about Elsa's powers, he realized that he could use that to his advantage. He helped the kingdom and whatever, but when Anna disappeared too, he probably wanted to actually fimd anna, but not kill her, because it would keep him on the trusting side of Arendalle.
    He didn't want to necessarily kill Elsa at the castle because he knew it would hurt Anna as well, blah blah blah.
    But the real turn was during the scene when he realized that ANNA WAS GOING TO DIE if he did not kiss her. He looked genuinely concerned for her and wanted to save her, but that moment he realized (mid kiss) that if Anna died, it would be Elsa's fault, not his. It would be a legit reason to call treason For murdering the princess (accident or not). But i mean, anyone would feel guilty about this.
    Im not saying this is true, its my theory, but i think his villain rant was actually him trying to justify his actions. If he believed he was a villain, perhaps he thought it would take away the guilt.
    Also, there is that scene where weaseltown literally tells his 2 guards to go with Hans and MAKE SURE THAT THE QUEEN DOESNT RETURN. The reason they dont look like normal arendalle guards and carry bows is because their orders were to LITERALLY KILL ELSA.
    Thank you for coming to my TED TALK

    It was said that they wanted to make Hans a likeable character and allow people to believe in the relationship he and Anna could have, then hit then with the plot twist of Hans actually being evil. And he nearly did "stage a little accident" - at 1:52 he glances up in a split second to the chandelier and aims the crossbow upwards towards it, rather than just pushing it out of the way to avoid shooting Elsa.

      The redirection of the crossbow upwards was actually essential, and a better option. Had he pushed it aside (turning it to left or right) the arrow would’ve been shot and she would be hit, pointing upwards just buys her more time to get out of there.

  • @francine-
    @francine- 4 роки тому +9

    by 1:53, notice how he looked up first before diverting the crossbow upwards (and hitting the chandelier). the intention might be (1) since the chandelier's big, there's a big chance that it could kill elsa once it's dropped or (2) he wanted to kill elsa while making it seem like an accident.
    or maybe he really did not want her dead until she unfreezes arendelle.

    In the story this was based off of, there was a shattered mirror that turned people evil if you got a piece stuck in your eye. I just picture Hans in the boat sailing back home, staring at his reflection in the water and remembering that scene where he saved Elsa, and wondering why he was so desperate to save her if he was just going to kill her after all. Perhaps the Duke of Wesington could have placed a shard in his eye or something? Perhaps he was trying to start a war between the two nations? He could just wait until both kingdoms have weakened enough, and charge in and overthrow them both.

    Han's is a sociopath, narcissistic opportunist. His isolation from his brothers and lack of respect within his family made him bad. He keeps up appearances and plans ahead to gets what he wants. He is incapable of love and wants to rule alone and absolute. He plays along with other desires and exploits them. He's the polar opposite of Anna. The Duke and his goons were sketchy from the start but the fact Disney played with the idea of a true sociopath as a villain to subvert expectations is incredible.

      I was scrolling through the comments hoping to see one like this, this is exactly what Disney intended to portray. Disney has been incorporating real life situations into their movies more and more these past few years along with still keeping the fantasy/fairytale vibe they are known for, its to give the audience something to connect to, I'm sure a lot of people at some point in their life have encountered a sociopath or narcissist and hans demonstrates those qualities perfectly, for all the other comments saying his behavior came out of no where, it often feels like that (the shock/hurt when their true self is revealed) with real life sociopaths and narcissists as they are quite charming, intelligent and manipulative in front of an audience or in the beginning (Love bombing) phase which was why he was so kind and charming to Anna in the beginning but totally heartless and apathetic to her later on in these scenes shown.

    • @loulinou9343
      @loulinou9343 4 роки тому +1

      idk i have read sociopath ( anti social personality disorder so also psychopath ) fail to plan ahead on a website : "They are impulsive and lack the ability to plan ahead" 🤔are violent aggressive , they can be agitated are very irresponsible dont tolerate frustration dont have impulse control, steal , and apparently dont understand emotions i also read which dont really fit with Hans behavior in the movie. i dont think a true sociopath will have succeeded to do what Hans did in the in the movie and stayed calm. in the book "a frozen heart" Disney publish who explore his personality and past Hans empathize at a moment with his mom and sister in law he is able to show empathy and he hates violence. Also one of the big element is the factor "repetition" He is 23 years old after all if he was one (same for psychopath) he will have already an history of violence behind him since it appear around 8 years old (according to researcher) why would his parents send him , their problematic child who has a history of violence before 15 years old ( one of the condition to be diagnostic one ) as a diplomat to an important political events when they have 12 others sons. Narcissist also develop around '4-5 years old same story here he would have been an abusive kid. And i mean we are not really in his head like how do we know Hans Have an exaggerated sense of self-importance ? Because he wants to be king 🤔 Have a sense of entitlement and require constant, excessive admiration ? Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements that warrant it ? Exaggerate achievements and talents , is preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty ? believe he is superior and can only associate with equally special people ? Monopolize conversations and belittle or look down on people he perceive as inferior ? Expect special favors and unquestioning compliance with his expectations or have an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others ( wrong in the movie he takes cares of arendelle citizens) or is envious of others and believe others envy him. ( thats the list of symptoms ) i mean we just cannot guess all of that because he said " i m the hero who is gonna saved arendelle from destruction" and wants to be king. that's making way too much assumption about the character to me.🤔
      in the book " a frozen heart" disney published we are in his head and he feels like a throwaway he feel like trash he dont bullies but is a victim of bullying since little because he is weak according to them. his motivation to be king is to have the acceptance of his abusive father and show that he can be good king and suffer from severe narcissistic abuse as his father is one a big one that designed hans as the scapegoat using hans twin brothers as flying monkey to shame him. the only trait he did check is the one he have in the movie take advantages of others to get what they want. so if the author of this book disney published suceded to give supplementary information about Hans without making him a narcissist is maybe a sign there is not any evidence of him being one in the movie.🤔 sorry for the long comment i guess i really wanted to share what i know about the subject 😅

    I totally agree with all of your points except for the scene where Hans "saves" Elsa in the ice castle. You can see that before he shoves the crossbow away from Elsa, he glances up and looks right at the chandelier. I believe this to be his idea of a "little accident" for Elsa. He tried to play the hero role until the very end because that's what he wanted to be, the hero. Sadly in the process of trying to do so he actually became the opposite. But it still doesn't quite make sense, things would have been much easier for him if he just let the Duke's men kill Elsa, he could of still played the hero and Elsa would have been delt with. Why rush in behind them as if worried? No one was paying attention to him at that moment, everyone was distracted by a giant ice monster! That's the part that makes no sense to me. I believe that Hans was truly at war with himself and his plan until the very end of the film. If you've ever read "A Frozen Heart" which is a book about Hans from hos childhood, all the way to the end of the movie, it helps understand him a bit more. Yes, he had a plan from the beginning to marry into the throne, but he originally had no intention of killing anyone! His plan was to swoon Elsa and marry her. Anna, the Duke, and Elsa's powers were all obstacles that Hans had know way of knowing about before hand. He himself didn't even know how to deal with them, his own plan was constantly changing with every new complication that came up, making his plan and actions inconsistent, thus he himself seems inconsistent. What I do have a problem with however, is that the movie plays it off like he had everything planned from the beginning, which would obviously be impossible! If hadn't revealed his entire plan to Anna the whole movie would make sense, even him being the bad guy! It could have gone something like this: Hans comes to Arendelle in hopes of marrying into the throne. He bumps into Anna and sees that she is easier to reach than Elsa, so he begins to change plans. Before he can even finish thinking up his new and improved plan, Elsa screws everything up! The next thing he knows, he is left in charge of Arendelle, it's snowing in July, and now has the Duke and his men to deal with. He has to try and change plans again. His attempt to win the people over works and that's a good start. He too is worried about the state of the land itself and wants it to return to normal. He needs Elsa alive for this. When he has reason to believe that Anna is in trouble, he goes after her. They come to the ice castle and he tries to talk Elsa into bringing back summer. He saves her and brings her back to Arendelle. He once again tries talking to her, when she tells him that she can't bring summer back, another roadblock is thrown at him. How is he going to fix this? Time to change plans again. As he worries about everything, the ambassadors say something of importance to him "You are all Arendelle has left." At this moment, he comes to terms with losing Anna, and realizes that he doesn't even need her or Elsa to rule, the throne of Arendelle is literally being offered to him by the people themselves. Just as he gets comfortable with this idea, Anna shows up. Now he has to worry about what she'll do if anything happens to Elsa. He's sick of changing his plans over and over again and just decides to simplify it all. He let's Anna meet her fate. The next thing he knows, Elsa has escaped, these Arendelle royals are more trouble than they're worth! He's sick and tired of Elsa, up until this point she's ruined everything over and over again. He lashes out on her, telling her that Anna is dead. When she falls to her knees in sorrow he sees the storm stop. He looks around and in that moment, he thinks he's figured out how to stop the winter, kill Elsa. In that instance is the first time that its crossed his mind. He pulls out his swords and we all know how the rest of the story goes. I think that is it was portrayed that way, it was have seemed more consistent and played out better. But I love the idea of alternate versions! There are so many different things you could do in the story! I would have liked to see Hans be a good guy or even get redeemed. Great video!!!!

    In "A Frozen Heart", a complementary book of Frozen (wrote by Disney), it says that only Hans and two of his 12 brothers not got married. But these two brothers are different in appearance of this two guards (the book says how they look like). Actually, most of people in Disney world doesn't know that Arendelle have two princess, and the majority thinks it's only Elsa, because she is the heiress. Hans wanted to marry Elsa, not Anna. He didn't knew it that Anna existed, until he met her. And, how he says in the movie, Elsa is not a open person and Anna was desesperate for love, then, it was easier for him get close to her, not Elsa. But something I liked you said is that Hans was contraditory, because, if he wanted to be the King of Arendelle, and needed Elsa dead, he would have left her die in her ice castle, what he did not. I still don't understand that, but I think Disney made this to left that thing that he is one of the good guys, and for give that surprise that we had in the end of the movie.

    Actually, I think it was very clever to make Hans the main villain because it shoes that he is a master manipulator. I wish though, that Hans went after Elsa instead of Ana. It would have been even more interesting if there was a reason why Hand also wore gloves all the time like Elsa. Like he was a fire sorcerer. Just my opinion.

    Think it was like Hans kissing Anna, nothing happen and then tries to kill Elsa to save Anna.
    And in the End he stays in Arendale looks happy for Anna and new Love, but actally is broken inside and talks about it with Elsa and ask her if he can stay (like the Kigdom is better then his home) and teasing something between them for longterm
    Which could have build up for longterm in the other movies

    He is evil. When he "protected" Elsa and moved the hand of that man with the crossbow, you can see that is looking up. So he wanted to appear good in front of the guards. If that chandelier thingy would've felt and killed Elsa, he couldn't have sad he didn't tried to protect her. This is my opinion!!

      there's literally no reason to prove himself as "good" infront of the guards when one of them is about to get murdered by Elsa, if anything, letting the Duke's guards kill her will benefit him if he is evil since not only did he allow a girl that already fell for him to be queen, he can also arrest and execute his rival Duke for the murder of a ruler

    • @fionahunter8320

      @@antoniodelaugger9236 He has no proof that the Duke told his guards to kill Elsa, so he can't do anything to him, just to his guards. And I was talking about the guards from the castle, not the Duke's ones. This is not the point anyway, I just expressed my opinion about Hans. In my eyes he will remain an manipulative evil boy who wants to rule a kingdom...

    Did you watch the movie? The weaseltown guy told his henchmen to go kill Elsa. And the whole point of Han's villainy was to shock the audience with that plot twist. And it worked.

    • @clarkepercivaljaeblood4886
      @clarkepercivaljaeblood4886 4 роки тому

      I agree that it worked, but we really didn't get any good hints that Hans was going to be the alleged "bad guy". Although it's shocking, it doesn't make sense because we don't really see good hints. A good twist villain has to make sense, not come out of nowhere. Hans' villainy depended on shock value, and like you said, it worked, but because it didn't make sense, as soon as the shock wore off, it wasn't... as remarkable.

    You have a point will all the scenes, but what if it was just a cover story? Like he couldn't obviously go "Hey let's all kill Elsa!" Because then Ana would feel betrayed and never marry him and he would never be king and therefore his whole plan is ruined......

    If you look closer when hans breaks the chandelier he looks up at it thinking he could hit it while he tries to look good infront of 'Elsa's' guards so it looks like he is 'saving her' but in reality he was either still trying to kill her or knock her unconscious. And I actually think the out of nowhere villain is a good thing because kids won't see it coming, Anna never seen it coming and the kingdom didn't see it coming so it was a big surprise to everyone and I want to see that in villains (although I've seen frozen so many times Hans has gotten old😂) but anyway I hope you actually understand where I'm coming from😂😂 Also sorry if you were joking or something I haven't finished the video yet😅

    Stop making a stupid conspiracy at 2:59. Whenever Hans in arrendelle after the horse ride by anna suddenly appear he ask for the volunteer for help him on searching princess anna and the dude old man had volunteer his two man to helps hans in plan to brings anna back. And why hans allow them to take along ? If you says its only the volunteer were allowed but why hans allow the those 2 man to come along? If Hans wasn't a villain, kristoff, elsa, olaf wouldn't be together and absolutely not a such happy ending to be seen. So the wesselton and Hans the real villain, checkmate. But I heard some backstory about Hans that he been abused by his brothers and working hard to rule the arendelle and become a king so thats why
