OMG! How I love Kid and the Coconuts! The great August Darnell, and the beautiful blonde on the far right nearest him was his wife at that time, Adriana Kaegi who was in charge of the choreography and costumes for the Coconuts. The brilliant Coati Mundi, close friend of August Darnell, on the xylophone. Coconut is an affectionate term that Darnell used to refer to the pretty blondes he was typically attracted to. 😁😁
Kid Creole, and August Darnell's earlier group, Dr. Buzzard, have tons of great tunes to react to.

Pretty sure he saw something in August Darnell that is similar to his friend Morris Day, even his sidekick Coati Mundi has the same kind of dynamics with August than Morris has with Jerome Benton. BTW, both The Time and KCATC started in 1980.

It's too bad you didn't pick a video with Kid Creole and the Coconuts plus the entire band performing live (he was lip syncing on this video). There's a great concert (Kid C & the C's) video recording, for Canada's Much Music, that can be found on UA-cam. BTW, Coatie Mundi was a character and was missed when he left the band. He's the other guy in this video.
I wondered where August Darnell was. BTW, I ran across a video some months ago with Coati Mundi (and band) and Corey Daye doing Sunday Kind of Love. Good stuff.
