Did the addition of the chilli powder make them a bit spicy? I don;t mind spicy but my girlfriend doesn't so I may eliminate that part. Also, thinking to add a cup of apple juice.

As advertised, at the end of the eight hours, my ribs fell off the bone and were delicious. I would add one more step to the process, however. Because the ribs on the bottom receive more juices than the rack on top, I would recommend switching them about every two hours, and basting them during the switch. And if not each two hours, by the fourth hour at least. Otherwise, a great recipe, and a keeper for sure! : )

I made these yesterday and they were so good! Much easier than my old way of doing in the oven and having a big mess to clean up. The only thing I did differently is, halfway through I rotated the bottom half to the top. My crockpot is very old and I noticed the bottom piece was boiling on low setting, and that’s when I rotated. I have a another crockpot but it always boils on low. I made my macaroni and cheese my kids love and gobbled up. Tonight is the other half. Thank you for the great recipe! I also passed it along to family and friends 🙏🙏

Also im diabetic and there is a TON of sugar and sweetened bbq sauce in this… don’t know what i can exchange for that??
Can use maybe a 1/4 of the brown sugar, and get sugar free bbq sauce?

Claudia, what is the first thing you put into the slow cooker? Water, ribs or BBQ sauce? Thanks.

Cooking these today Claudia. Was wondering if you could answer a quick question, I'm cooking a little over 5 lbs of ribs and stacking them three high in the crock pot. Should I extend the cooking time on low for another hour?

We have been using the slow cooker for ribs for years. We differ slightly from your procedure: We cut the ribs apart and also lightly brown them in the broiler first.
Oh, yeah and - We ALWAYS use a crock pot liner to make clean up easier....

This was an amazing recipe that my kids ask for every night. Instead of bbq, I used a waffle cone, swapped the spices for sprinkles and instead of ribs, I used chocolate ice cream. (pro tip: with these substitutions, no cooking time is required) Thank you for the amazing recipe! New family favorite.
