On one hand, I agree and most of these games would benefit from a modernized port on PC, more and more people are into gaming these days and need to catch on these gems; on the other hand, the dual screen *makes* these games for me personally, I love seeing the conglomerate of different artworks we got for demons over the years when I'm in a battle in SMT IV. Being able to check status on real time when the turn happens in games like Bravely Default and Second. Drawing the map like you are actually drawing, rather than whatever we got with that Etrian Odyssey port... I'm still not over it, they ruined it for me. In a perfect world Nintendo would just make the Switch 2 dual screen and let it play both single screen and dual screen games. I still play with my 3DS to this day, definitely my favorite console.
SMT4 and the Persona Q series being exclusively digital in Europe left such a bad taste in my mouth that it pushed me to get a "membership" for the shop of H a few years after finishing them. I don't really like digital games because you kinda forget you own them if you can't look at them without the system turned on. Still great games of course, but the way they treat the Euro market was really tactless.
Man, that sucks. I still have my physical copy of Shin Megami Tensei IV on 3DS. I think it came with some added extras too even though I didn't buy a collector's edition. If I recall, Atlus didn't have a publishing branch in Europe back in the day so their game releases were a bit more sparse in their options when it came to things like physical, digital, and collector's editions. I think Sega takes care of their European releases now though.
Great video and thank you for sharing this list. I forgot some of these games existed and will now need to return to complete the ones I do own and pickup the ones I have yet to play. I really wish a Dual Screen handheld would return. A Switch DS maybe? I love the idea of an uncluttered top screen but all my information below is still present. Phantasy Star Zero and Fantasy Life are two games that I can think of as well as the Monster Hunter series....not an RPG but still great use of both screens An HD system with this would be a dream.
Yeah! I loved playing Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U. That second screen really changed the experience for me. I bought on 3DS too with the controller accessory and had so much fun playing that, and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. I missed Fantasy Life, but I did play and enjoy that one too. I can't believe I didn't even know about Phantasy Star Zero. I Iiked the Phantasy Star series on the Sega consoles, and Phantasy Star IV is my favorite JRPG on the Genesis. Thanks for sharing.
SMT 4 will be remade, calling it now. The story and characters are well known and it’s if Altus doesn’t do anything to make a mainline game still accessible, they’re remaking it
You will be happy to know that The Alliance Alive and The Legend of Legacy now have Steam ports. With Legend of Legacy set to release sometime in 2024. My game that I wish Nintendo would make a new game of is Steel Diver. I would have loved to see what improvements they would have made on the two previous games.
Yup! That does make me happy. I specifically didn't mention those games because I knew they were coming. I looked up Steel Diver and it looks like a lot of fun. I remember playing a submarine sim on the NES a really long time ago and enjoying it. I love learning about new games.
Etrian 4-5 are due for early 2024... Phoenix Wright the later 3 games are out in January.. iggdra union too... . Xenoblade X is on Wii u as well right? The MEGATEN games on modern consoles would be great (the ps2 ones as well) but ATLUS is in the process of remaking persona 1 and 2 apparently... Persona Q will probably be ported some day.. Soul Hacker 2 did not sell well tho and Megaten is considered risky
I had zero awareness that Etrian Odyssey 4 and 5 were coming, but if they are I'm glad! I think all the Shin Megami Tensei flagship games just need to get released on multiple platforms. Thanks for letting me know.
I've done it too! Maybe I should change my wording whenever I use that phrase. I tend to use it in a lot of the videos I produce on this channel. My big thing is being careful with mentioning things like roms and rom hacks on my channel because it's a slippery slope, even if back ups are legal.
What games would you like to see make the move to modern platforms?
Persona Q 1 and 2
not many, the persona 3&4 games asking price for the remakes are eye watering 😥😥
@@AkechiToo Good ones! Persona Q2 is one of the last games I played through on the 3DS on my Twitch stream. Good memories.
Stella Glow is my favorite 3ds game and its a shame its stuck on 3DS
That's another good one I've played that I forgot to mention! Thanks for sharing.

PQ games did get physical releases.

Subbed! Good solid informative game discussion.
Thank you! I try my best, but I definitely miss things and I could certainly organize my videos a bit better.

*laughs in citra*
citra + steam deck + tv dual screen setup= im going to ruin this man's whole career
"If you're okay with emulation" Y'know, there's ways of playing fan-translations and other romhacks in real hardware... I do it!
