I love JPRGS but I also click the vids cuz you're cute AF Jordan ;)
@AbitMoreJordan thank you for always posting the time stamps and time stamping the video. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the videos you do on here and your other channel. I hope the new switch is called Super Switch.
Amazing episode thanks again!
Any new ones since 9 months ago? And any plans for digital only switch jrpg list?
The fact that we still don't have Chrono Trigger is criminal. And don't get me started on Mother 3...
Maybe they're remaking it and don't want to spoil the party with the original :D
@@ABitMoreJordan I hope those 2.5 remake rumors are real but I don't want to get 💔
Or lunar and lufia
@@michaelclifton9498 I would love to have the OG Lufia! That was the first SNES JRPG I played back in '94.
go download an emulator. remasters are watering down the videogame industry and these developers are realizing they can just sell old shit over and over and over again in a new package.
Wow, man, you put so much effort on this, compiling it all in a single video, just amazing. Thanks you for that, all support is deserved (and I'll remember definitely use your links when I start importing these beauties)
Thanks so much! 🙂
Thank you for putting this massive list together. It was a great reminder of how many classic ports I now have a chance to play or replay with new perspective.
192 essential JRPGs? bro, I don't have enough time left to play that many JRPGs
then don't. its that easy. play what interests you, and put in the time if you have it. or js play fortnite we dont judge
Thanks for having such a comprehensive list. When you look at other videos, it's always the "top 20" and it's just the same games in every video lol.
I'll definitely be rewatching this video whenever a jrpg franchise on Switch catches my eye. I'm just astonished with how informative and high-quality this video is. You definitely earned my subscription.
I do wish you organized them by developer though.
Note: Mary Skelter 2 has Mary Skelter 1 on the cart. Originally, you had to beat 2 to unlock 1. But there is a small download (not an update) that makes it available right away.
I knew there was something like that. But couldn't remember if it was 2 or Finale that had the first game
This my first time watching one of your videos and man I’m a fan now. Thank you for all the info on all the titles available on the Switch. I’m a huge jrpg fan too and now you’ve motivated me to try and finish all of these games 😂
This was an amazing list. Several games, I hadn't heard of... Those are getting added to my want list. Great vid!!!
Thanks to this video I finally was able to pick up Trinity Trigger. The ESRB copy never appealed to me cause I didn't want to spend $60 on some forced CE. But last I checked PA was out of the PAL version of it. Watching this video reminded me to check and PA actually had it in stock so I grabbed a copy. Jordan, as usual you are the hero we needed. What a legend!
Yeah not a fan of CE-only releases too
Glad someone acknowledges the existence of NEO The World Ends With You
Thank you so much for this mate. saved to watch later while on static bike. Appreciate you buddy
Thanks for all your hard work Jordan!!!!
This is an amazing list for the steam deck also i have a lot of these games on my wishlist and you had me adding more.
This is definitely great to see as this can run by the games I want to get or put it on the wishlist thats for sure, dope stuff jordan!
Have 86 Games at Home. Great Selection of JRPG. Thanks 4 this Video 😊
Legend of Mana is the first Mana game I played on my PS1 with my brother. Having it on the Switch lit my heart as I get to play it on the go. Having to own this physically with Collection of Mana and Trials of Mana Remake are great to played on the go.
My favorite physical jrpg series I have is the Xenoblade series, it's so good
You're the best Jordan! For real! Your channel and Switch Watch are my favourite. I've recommended your channel to a friend, and any who'd be looking for recommendations on the Nintendo Switch. God Bless!
Wow!!! We are living in one of the best eras in videogames History!!!
A highly entertaining and soothing voice, something that makes the video the better. The last game I obtained for the switch was Final Fantasy 4, the next one will be Suikoden 1+2. I am looking forwards to Dragon Quest 12.
Your vids have saved me twice now. The 353 Imports vid, I didnt know about the censorship with Pocky and Rocky and literally just had amazon cancel my delivery the day before your video dropped. Here, I thought the new double pack of Rhapsody games were the only two games and and that the Prinny Presents V3 was just one of those Rhapsody games in that bundle.
Great video! If i could add, I think you should definitely try out any of the Trails series games. My personal favorite is the Crossbell series Trails of Zero and Trails of Azure. One of the best stories in my opinion
What a list! Tactics Ogre Reborn is essential. It's hard! Recruit-able characters die in their intro battles all the time if you aren't careful. It's like FE3H if it didn't have a convenient school to recruit your army from. Also essential is FF Pixel Collection, for the sheer value of 6 classics in great presentation. Record of Agarest War is essential for tactics fans as well.
I'm really looking forward to Cross Tails (have an order in), hoping it lives up to the other tactics greats.
I still can't beat the final boss
I appreciate this list, I am missing a lot of good titles. I'm trying to buy more JRPGs lately to add in my collection. AND hopefully find time to play all😂. Tho not mentioned, Battle Network Legacy Collection is an awesome buy to add in collection. Love that series as a kid.
I agree, if you haven't played SaGa dip your toes into one. It's a love it or hate it series, but if you end up liking it you won't find other games like it anywhere else.
What a great video! Love your content, Jordan.
Oh Wow great video. Good job. I feel Super⭐️As always there are some I thought I had but don’t. Have to rectify that issue lol👍🏾
Always looking to increase my physical JRPG collection so this a great list i already have a ton of.
I do feel the NIS section is lacking without Labyrinth of Refrain and Labyrinth of Galleria though (unless my fat finger on the search bar caused me to skip them in which case disregard this comment!).
Edit: just looked more closely and saw them listed separately if the NIS section. Carry on!
192 games on 1 console is nuts. But I truly commend you for putting this together 🙏🏾🙏🏾 listened to every last recommendation
You know there's over 1300 physical titles on the Switch so far (quite a few from small publishers though).
192 ESSENTIAL titles of the most time consuming genre haha, it's hard to consider it essential, good video.
192 essential jrpgs... this guy understands.
Subscibe
I love Dragon Quest and I bought my NSwitch just to play DQ11. I just hope they also put 456789 on Switch and release 10 globally. I love your list! Definitely gonna check all others. I love JRPGs.
Another fine video Jordan, Respect for the effort...
You DO have quite a big care-home following, my Gran in Rotherham would LOVE for you to volunteer!
She said "Tell him I'VE got a REALLY in depth character development system! Ha Ha..."
Then she started coughing and I was asked to leave
Sorry as a Sheffielder, I'm legally forbidden from associating with Rotherham ladies.
Saving the best for last xenoblade for the win as always. Also appreciate the shear dedication needed to put these together
I played Stranger of Sword City on Vita and its a lot of fun.
Oninaki is hands down my favorite jrpg
You pretty much covered it all here
Surprised Mario + Rabbids games wasn't mentioned. In my honest opinion, there the best RPG games for the system next to Dragon Quest 11: S Definitive Edition. It may not look like an RPG. But it kinda is. It's an Tactical RPG/Strategy game. They are great and it's certainly an better Mario RPG than the modern Paper Mario games we got today.
I’d be interested to see a spreadsheet of meta critic scores for all he’s discussed
Great list! Thanks for putting it together. No Neptunia games tho? Some of those have physical release.
Also I know it's not technically a JRPG but Undertale feels a lot like one and it's physical on the Switch.
I wonder if Valkyrie Profile will be on the Switch one day. What a great game😊😊😊
yup, that was the one I was looking for and didn't see in the video.
you just quintupled my xmas wishlist
Octopath/Bravely Default, SMT/Persona, FF, DQ, Xenoblade and almost all of Nihon Falcom, Square Enix and Bandai Namco's JRPGs are essential. Lots of hidden gems too, some great, masterpieces or mid, plain forgettable or cringe, but thats the charm I never get tired of
very hard work , tanks man
Thank you too!
Hi, what game is at the 0:49 time stamp?
And any recommendations for games very similar to Golden Sun and Golden Sun: Lost Age?
Hack , tales of series, and Death End 1+2 ( idea factory, known for Neptunia games) and atelier are definitely hidden gems imo despite that I'm still new to the Atelier games , like dragon quest and other Jrpgs not massively boomed in the USA etc they have strong strong followings . ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Death End 1 and 2 might be somewhat underrated but I'd say a good part of it is because they run like complete garbage on the Switch (specially the second game) and they never made the effort of even trying to fix it, they just made a "playable" build and threw it on the Switch with no regard to how it performed on the console and that isn't the first time they've done something similar with their games.
Tactics Ogre Reborn, Persona 4 Golden, and Xenoblade Chronicles
No love for Shining Resonance Refrain? I love that game
that's a lot of jarpigs.
only skimmed a couple points I'm interested in for the moment, but big +1 on Trails in the Sky needing some sort of current, non-PC release. In English. Cold Steel 1 and 2 have less excuse because those DO have Switch versions already.
I just came across your channel randomly and now I have to subscribe my favorite JRPG is Final Fantasy X-2,some that I’ve played besides that are: Final Fantasy X (I got the bundle) Bravely Default 2, Blue Reflection Second Light, I’ve played Final Fantasy Zodiac Age. I really wanna get Crisis Core & Fire Emblem. Also wanna play Octopath Traveler
Man this video is a true epic 👏👏
I got Xenoblade chronicles 3 a few months ago. Anime or jrpgs really have never been my scene but I've always been interested in them and would like a starter. Loving this game. I go at it in chunks for sure but it took me a while to understand the fighting system and I still have a ways to go. But my last 2 or 3 play sessions on it are hard to put down and I know I have so much more for this game to offer. Deff has opened my eyes and I got persona 5 via trade ins not too long ago. Another rabbit hole to go down.
Thank you Jordan for helping me continue to support the economy by showing me more games I now want to buy.
ABitMoreJordan And His Channel Switch Watch Is The YT Channel That Got Me Into Collecting Physical Nintendo Switch Games Especially All The Ones With Fan Service And Hardcore Fan Service On The Nintendo Switch.
..this video just prove that the Switch is the New King of RPG games 🎮❤️
This is insane!
Great list! Though you didn’t mention Kingdom Hearts or Megaman Battle Network Collection.
KH wasn't physical, but a decent shout there for Battle Network
a jrpg list that includes Super Robot Wars. You get a sub just for that.
I'm only missing about 44 or 45 of the games in the list.
I've been purchasing the Pixel remaster in reverse order. I just got to Final Fantasy 2. I love the FFX/X-2 Asian version. The audio is in English.
8:10 Literally thought that said Salsa Frontier when I first saw it lmao
💃
Salsa Frontier is essential!
For the Asia/japan releases only can we in America get them with English or no?
Hey Jordan, I love your videos! Could you make a video on Switch shmups? Thanks!
Sure thing! Just give me a few months 😂
@@ABitMoreJordan You're AWESOME!😀👍
The Etrian Collection wasn't "remade". They just remastered them and made some changes for gameplay on one screen.
I like the list. You forgot about Sword & Fairy series. Sword & Fairy Together Forget released last week on the PS5. There is also Sword & Fairy 6 that came out way back in 2015.
This is for Switch though.
@@ABitMoreJordan Yep I got it. I hope that comes out on the Switch.
Now to add a title - there is also Tokyo Xanadu on the switch. Yes, it's only in Japanese but if you aren't cops then there is a port of full translation from pc for modded switches
Hey... this video is amazing 👏 👏
Thank you so much 😀
You're the greatest guy in the world. Man.
Time for Xseed to put all their Falcom games on the Switch! Guess I'll have to email them again.
No Sakuna of Rice and ruin? 😥
One of my favorite games on the Switch. Definitely deserves a place.
omg i thought it was romancing salsa this whole time 💀
💃
I'd buy Romancing Salsa.
There is this game I have to play anytime I watch your vids. It doesn't have an official name and never seems to have an ending and can be quite challenging at times, best thing I can call it is budget simulator! How is it that my second least powerful console has amassed the highest total spend and most amount of software?
What about 13 Aegis Rim? Yes, it's similar to Digimon Survive with the Visual Novel storytelling and tactical battle system. However, it's a pretty good game with a great story.
I think it's mainly an adventure game with some tactical rpg parts.
We need the Suikoden series brought over to the switch. Great games that would bring 100s of hours.
No Astral Chain? Amazing anime-style Action RPG from PlatinumGames with some of the best music, combat and graphics on the Switch!
Perhaps! I guess I didn't really think of it as an RPG. Brilliant game but I can't remember the RPG elements off the top of my head.
@@ABitMoreJordan it has leveling and skill trees etc. it is as much of an RPG as Nier Automata IMO.
Rhapsody retrospective yes!
Great list! Still many I want to pick up for my own collection. I would also include Heroland. And perhaps not *quite* fitting the JRPG genre by some people’s standards, the Akiba’s Trip games are perhaps worth mentioning as well.
Hmm I thought they were more standard beat em ups. But maybe they could have been put on here.
I also have an RPG to mention: Ring Fit Adventure.
Good shout 👍
Pretty nice list. Although for me i'll added Cris Tales and Mario + Rabbids on the list.
Cris Tales I believe was made in South America and Mario & Rabbids doesn't have enough RPG-ness for my classification. Great game though!
Imagine if you did a list like this for the n64... You sure wouldn't reach 192... You'd be lucky to reach 2... Switch had such a great library
Can you do the same for point and click adventures? :)
No front mission series?
Hey Jordan, first of all for everything you do :) I watched your content over on SwitchWatch for several years now and lately branched out into your other content :) The research you do, your opinion and just everything is excellent. In fact your stuff is one of the go to material I recommend to others when talking about gaming content.
But (and here is a big but now), while I always appreciate your opinion on the SaGa series, Legend of Mana, Rhapspdy and everything else (YES, there are actually quite some really nice kemco games out there) you sadly are just wrong with your opinion on NiNoKuni xP
As a fellow Suikoden AND monster taming game I have to say that while NiNoKuni 1 is a nice ghibli game, the monster taming elements in it are only mediocre at best and the recruitment mechanic is just terrible. In fact the DS Version of NiNoKuni 1 handles this so much better and is in fact (at least in my opinion) the superior version of it. Sadly it never got out of japan and so people in the west have to use a translation patch.
NiNoKuni 2 on the other hand feels like NiNoKuni mixed with Suikoden, as you can build your own city, wage war against other countries, recruit lots of playable and non-playable characters and so on. And this time around, there is no ither version of the game. So as a fellow Suikoden fan you just have to appreciate NiNoKuni2 for what it does and so it easily wins the match between these 2 ;)
(Don't take all of this too seriously x3 Why I mean what I say, your taste on games is brilliant :) Please go on with what you do❤ )
This is an amazing compilation. Thank you so much for making this!
Picking up a switch OLED next week and I know my wallet is going to be very angry at me onward.
i made it all the way thru, and i dont even play switch. yay.
Is this every single rpg released on the switch?
I dont even hav switch but im gonna watch to see if i miss play any rpg lol
The title of this video alone was enough to make me click on the video. Absolutely. Stunned. And amazed.
but what rpg has the best fighting system?
Oh, NOW someone wants to talk about physical collections.
Anybody know if Play Asia games come with english text / english voice acting?
The ones linked in the description have English text. Voices probably not.
42:27 Ha! ARSE-eus... sorry... I had to 😂
Doesn't Death End have really shitty frame rates on Switch or was that actually fixed by the devs in the end? Awesome video as always :D
@@GoroOno That sucks, I was pretty interested in it until I found out about the shitty frame rate. I can't support devs\publishers who don't support what they are peddling.
Grandia 1-2 FTW! Woot
Also, can’t wait to play the games with big boob characters
Good taste
Anyone happen to know if the Japanese Trails games (Zero & Azure) have English?
Sadly they don’t
big sad to not see Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection.
also, i've never played Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, but I hear it's pretty solid. probably deserves a spot on the list if Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon is on there.
To be fair, the MMBN games don't really feel like a rpg in a way.... The games are fun, but no exp system. I guess the battle chips are equipment though? And there are upgrades available to your health and stats. Its a grid based action game with light rpg elements overall.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX is a great remake. Definitely get it if you can.
Trails of cold steel one and two are on the switch though !
You know what I mean buddy.
I wish they’d put disgaea 2 on the switch it’s the best one
Why does everyone say that Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default look similar? They are as different as sun and moon. By the way, both games are great rpgs.
