My son is a Heavy goods engineer, and as meticulous as you, my wife and I are 81 and amazed by your Land Rover knowledge and great blogs. We have many hours of entertainment your wife adds to your blogs. Thank you
Dear Christian & Vera, coming up for the 320,000 km timing belt change shortly on my 2010 Disco 4 2.7 Just wish to say thank you - she seems to be much happier with the switch to Magnatech 5W 40 every 5000 kms. Fingers crossed I’m hoping to see 500km out this wonderful machine.
I love the enthusiasm, "lets take the oil pan out. its just 6:30 in the morning". Gives me the motivation to get on with things I have put in the back burner for a long time. Sunday morning inspiration.
We're busy doin' nothin' Workin' the whole day through Tryin' to find lots of things not to do We're busy goin' nowhere Isn't it just a crime We'd like to be unhappy, but We never do have the time Great channel, very entertaining 😂😂🇬🇧
Thank you for planning to weld the old block - even if it is an offline attempt. Better to have tried and failed than not tried. I also think it showcases the skills of an artisan - and these craftsman are undervalued by our throw-away society (presently). You could always weld your signatures into it as well. That way, it isn't a repaired block - it is a "Signature LR Time Block"! Worth substantially more. Thanks for the great content and clear explanations.
The air intake trash bag blockage was also a problem on my 2017 Range Rover Sport. And the LR dealer has the same approach: guess the fault and change very expensive parts €€€. Fortunately I saw the LR Time video and cured the problem by taking out the trash. Brilliant channel!
Your intro reminded me of the song “we are busy doing nothing, working the whole day through, trying not to find lots of things not to do”. O great the tune is stuck in my head now… : )
You know what I love about you two, the way you work British engineered vehicles as German engineers. Despite the differences you guys are able to blend the two that is British and German engineering together. Great work, great video ❤❤❤❤🎉
You’re both brilliant and together such a team. I am having an oil filter change in my Disco 4. first time with 5w-40 oil like you guys use and recommend. Plus a new fuel filter and water sensor. All done today by my independent garage. 👍
@@bfons006 hello , Castrol magnatec 5W-40 C3. Got the car back feels good. But may be just in my mind🤞. Got to go back as the fuel filter with sensor was not in stock. So not had the bill but really pleased this has been done.

To the block welding: my Father had a Polski Fiat 126 in the 80s which had a rod knocking a hole on the side of the block. He just glued a piece of sheet metal over the hole with 2K epoxy and used it for years without any issues :)
Yes, I've done a similar repair on a V6 Toyota engine. But no water jacket area was cracked or broken just the crankcase oil space. It's amazing that it is possible to still run an engine with such a "patch up".
@@gazzafloss If it's hard to source a Gen2 short block in Germany, imagine what it is like in central Africa! Old Land Rovers and old Toyotas rule the roost in Africa for good reason!

@@MorningNapalm Everybody used to ride horses/wagons with oncoming strangers to their right. Then a midget came along and forced everybody to change sides. The British didn't bully anyone, get a life.
and it;'s so annoying that my Disco4 has the bonnet release on the passenger's side and not on the driver's side - it took me ages to find the bonnet release!
@@MorningNapalm LOL. Its a wonder Canada chose the wrong side to drive, but I guess its still due to Canadians building cars America wont but still buy them eh.

Wind deflectors are a must with these boxy trucks. You can roll down the windows a tiny bit on the freeway without suffering from hearing damage. Best money I have ever spent.
You guys inspired me to buy a L405 4.4 AB. My first long trip and baptism of fire will be next week, a 1000 km trip to Sweden, to attend my fathers funeral. It must not brake down on me. Not that trip.
Sorry, last comment. A quick couple of tips. 1/ use motorcycle chain oil on your car lift chain. It’s very “sticky” compared to normal it won’t get washed off by water. 2/ regarding the bubbles in the drivers side door card, try cutting up some reflective adhesive tape roughly the same size as that end piece. If you can’t fix it then disguise it with another purpose - safety. That’s all.
Even though I drive a Land Cruiser that never breaks down I always come to learn something new. The masking tape hinge trick to fit the rain guards was wonderful. I also love the way you sunk your two post lift down so you have no bump and I always wondered about the rubber cover you use. Pond liner. Genius.
Really must sort my bonnet catch. I have the replacement. Just not the inclination. Drives the neighbours mad! 😂 if it stops raining here in uk today, i might just do it. Thanks both for my Sunday fix!
When you did the bonnet catch I assumed you either had the camera reversed or that German vehicles had the sensor catch on the opposite side😂it was only when you highlighted your mistake (or when Vera distracted you) that I laughed 👍🏻
Hi Vera and Christian! My, my you did have plenty to do this week didn't you without touching the Disco4! On your explanation of why you were not going to ( seriously) attempt to weld the Gen 2 fractured block, I now fully understand your reasons for not doing it and support your decision! By all means down the line try to weld the 4 cracked or broken walls for as the Aussies say shits and giggles and we all will be interested in the results. I hope you soon manage to get hold of a decent Gen 2 block for your Disco4. Looking forward to see you both next week. Cheers from England!
Cristian, on your nav display do the brightness fix and switch the fix with a relay connected to the cigar lighter lamp. This worked for me and then runs full brightness in the day and dim at night. In uk we don’t have to drive with lights on so may not be suitable for you guys. ❤ your vids.
I have the General Grabber AT3s on my Disco. I wanted BFGoodrich AT KO2s as I have on my Defender, but BF don't make 19 inch AT tyres. The BFs are tougher and better off road.
I’ve had General Grabber AT3 on my older Ford Ranger. They are not my favourite tyres, distinctly lacking in traction compared to current factory fit road biassed’ Goodyear Wrangler Territory HT [presumably meaning Highway Terrain]. I know this for certain because I purchased a new take-off set of wheels and tyres and fitted them to the old truck. I am a grassland farmer and the difference is pronounced and I was initially worried that the difference would be the other way around. They also have good rim guards, where the rubber protrudes well beyond the alloy rim, which prevents curbing.
Wind Deflectors - always fit them so I can crack a window open in the rain and they move the turbulence further back and largely get rid of the air pressure hammering with a fully open window. When crossing the centre of Australia, we had a triple filter in series made from a certain size toilet rolls and changed them every 5 days
Yes, I fitted wind deflectors so that I could leave the windows open enough for the car to breathe when sitting on hot or wet days here in Corsica. But they were too noisy when on motorways back on the Continent. Your stick on ones may be more streamlined (if they stay stuck) than our Italian ones which located in the window channel. And I had to mod them to allow mirrors to fold all the way!
Great tip to explain about the pond foil. I was wondering for a few months what that was once I saw it was there in all your episodes after the lift install. I guessed it was EPDM rubber, which I knew only as a roof covering, 1,2mm is common. Pond foil is also this EPDM, 1mm. By coincidence just yesterday I bought two large offcut pieces! They can now sit like a magic carpet under the car in my (driveway) work location. So any oil or fluid spill does not give me sudden heart attacks. Also the wind does not blow it away as it is slightly heavy. Yours is one of the best diy car channels, and also, keep the German humor coming!

Fantastic video as always. Maybe you can buy an L322 to work on and learn? Great for viewership numbers and FUN vehicles. Get experience with the whole LR family. Cheers from the US.
Look into adding a wireless android auto/car play screen to the center dash. I did on my '06 LR3 and it's wonderful. Always love y'all videos you keep us laughing and you keep everybody watching and entertaining thank you lR Time in good Sunday to all of y'all❤😂
You guys crack me up. Not bad for not having much to do 😂 great hacks 👍
You guys are excellent. Just one complaint you do things in kilometres🤔 we British get confused😢 and you need to drink cups of tea on the job😊 I love the Land Rover hospital bed❤ enjoy the weather while it lasts.
Thanks for explayining the block welding option. I didn't want to put a comment on that but the question still stood in my mind. Just the same as why you didn't add/weld a layer of material on that TDV6 mains when you did a line boring repair 2yrs ago. I mean like some guys do when refurbrishing those huge joints on excavator arms.
Life Is a real rainbow for Landrover Owners eh. - LOL. love your channel guys.
Nice new HDR camera. The old one had a good innings.
I just love your videos!!!... so entertaining 🎉 Thank you 😊
great video, and great explanation about the welding, after you explaining the costs and difficulties for buying a new one i really think that you was going to "that road" and in every video i learn something new and good, and i'm here in brazil with my toyota making some noises and looking for the cause, sadly without a lift, keep the good work :D
Cheers guys loved it I always look forward to Sundays
Another hit. Thank you. And funny as always.
Fantastic video as always. Maybe you can buy an L322 to work on and learn? Great for viewership numbers and FUN vehicles. Get experience with the whole LR family. Cheers from the US.
Another great video!!! Keep it up 👍
Look into adding a wireless android auto/car play screen to the center dash. I did on my '06 LR3 and it's wonderful. They are cheap, fit right in and play through your OEM radio through the aux input. Then you have the latest Google maps, music apps and voice control phone/text. I added a back up camera that comes on automatically and even a front looking camera. And the screen gets brighter and dims automatically.
Excellent entertaining video guys.👍
