Thanks for the video. Only change to your video I would make, no music while you are talking. I had a difficult time hearing you over the music.

We arrive the Civitavecchia station with the 6 Euro bus ticket and stood in the sun for 2 hours waiting for the bus. Only bus is exclusive for Norwegian and MSC every 45 minutes. There is no bus to the port entrance. Most people give up by walking to the gate for 30 minutes 0.8 miles or take a taxi. Even at the gate, we have to wait another 45 minutes go get transported inside the port to a tent 0.4 miles from berth 12e.
We just finished joining a cruise from Rome ( Civitavecchia) in August 2023. Do not buy the 6 Euro bus ticket to the port bus, there is no bus take you to the gate and there is no one you can ask questions. We stood in the hot sun for 2 hours and no bus. The white bus comes every 40 minutes and only go the Norwegian and MSC ships. Most people have to walk the 0.8 miles with luggage to the gate or share a high price taxi for the 10 minute ride to the gate. At the gate, you have to wait another 45 minutes to board a bus to your ship. What a mess.

If we take the public bus, do we pay for it at the bus?

Hi! Before you leave the train station, buy the tickets from the news-stand or at the bar - platform entrance. ( don't have to pay for luggage - something that is common in Italy). When you come back, there is a stand inside the Largo della Pace service center (near the entrance on the left). Thank you for watching!

This is super helpful. I have a few questions. If we arrive at FCO International Airport at 9:30am and our ship doesn't depart until 1:30pm in Civitavecchia. Do you think we will have enough time to catch the train and then the shuttle bus? Also I noticed that the machine for buses take credit cards. Should I get Euro or is it safe to use my American debit/credit card?

Hi! Thank you for watching! I will try to give you a useful answer cause it's complicated. Considering you have an international flight (I suppose US), the airport exit time is relatively long. Assuming the flight arrives on time, there are many unforeseen delays, such as waiting time at passport control (being in the morning, many flights can arrive simultaneously), or waiting time for luggage. Even if it's a short distance between the baggage carousel and train, (overall) it can take you up to an hour to reach the train platform. By train, you have 2 options. First: Leonardo Express (Fiumicino Aeroporto - Rome Termini then change platform, then more waiting time until the next train Rome Termini to Civitavecchia) Second: regional train between Fiumicino Aeroporto - Rome Trastevere - Civitavecchia (here at Trastevere it's more easy to change trains). The journey takes between 1h30 to 2h (depends on train, day)
About the card. To save time, I always buy online from the official TrenItalia website (lefrecce - en. version).
My opinion: I really like shortcuts when traveling, but this one I think is very difficult to achieve. Check the train timetables on the website above. (ship depart 13:30, but the boarding till what time?)

@@CruiseTravelVideos This is helpful information. Thank you so much for providing such detail. I am going to look into if the cruise provides transportation from the airport to the ship.

What if your flight is late. I know someone whose flight was late and they missed the ship. They had to take a train to the next port to catch the cruise ship. We are arriving two days before our cruise. To enjoy Rome and take the pressure off of having to hurry to the port. If your air is booked through NCL cruise line, they will allow you to fly in early for a $25 change fee.

Watch carefully. It's a very comprehensive video. When the camera turns, it shows another direction, but then returns to the same place a few moments later. I tested in August and it is correct.
