Day 2 - Getting Lost on the Way to Civitavecchia Cruise Port - Rome

- It's day 2 and our Vatican tour is over. It's time to grab our bags and head to San Pietro Roma Train Station for the train to the Civitavecchia Cruise Port - Rome
The only problem is we are not 100% sure how to get from the Civitavecchia train station to the Civitavecchia Cruise Port - Rome. They say you can walk it but, doesn't look at easy as it could be.
So use this video as a guide on how to walk from the Civitavecchia train station to the Civitavecchia Cruise Port - Rome
A very handy video thanks. It reminds me of our many 'we will be fine if we do it ourselves' travel experiences where there is always the element of surprise.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks guys. Really helpful video for future travellers 😋
Glad to help!
Thanks. Very clear your explanation.❤
You have convinced me to just book the expensive cruise excursions so I won't get lost on my solo trip. LOL
Glad to help!
Nice video
Awesome. I have to do this in June.
As much as we complained getting lost, it was fun.
Wish me luck! I will be doing it from the airport. Not a direct train. Transfer to a 2nd train for Civitavecchia. I'm doing it for a pre-cruise stay so if I get lost I still have enough time to do it right or jump on a taxi...LOL
Last year I did it from the port to the city. It wasn't that bad so I'm trying this year. At the end I will take the RC transfer to the airport ($34).
Good planning with the extra time! Enjoy the trip.
We arrive the Civitavecchia station with the 6 Euro bus ticket and stood in the sun for 2 hours waiting for the bus. Only bus is exclusive for Norwegian and MSC every 45 minutes. There is no bus to the port entrance. Most people give up by walking to the gate for 30 minutes 0.8 miles or take a taxi. Even at the gate, we have to wait another 45 minutes go get transported inside the port to a tent 0.4 miles from berth 12e.
We just finished joining a cruise from Rome ( Civitavecchia) in August 2023. Do not buy the 6 Euro bus ticket to the port bus, there is no bus take you to the gate and there is no one you can ask questions. We stood in the hot sun for 2 hours and no bus. The white bus comes every 40 minutes and only go the Norwegian and MSC ships. Most people have to walk the 0.8 miles with luggage to the gate or share a high price taxi for the 10 minute ride to the gate. At the gate, you have to wait another 45 minutes to board a bus to your ship. What a mess.
Yes, it’s such a mess!
I’m glad you made this video, we will be doing the same thing ( SIT bus from the Airport to a Vatican hotel for 3 days ) and walk and take the train to San Pietro station to Civitavecchia Cruise port for our RC cruise. We will be dragging our luggages with us so, are the sidewalk surfaces luggage wheel friendly ? from SIT stop to Vatican hotel, and Hotel to S.Pietro train station? Any tips will be helpful and appreciated.
The walk to S.Pietro is difficult with wheel luggage. The roads are up and down, cobble stone and narrow. Plus there something at the Vatican that day, so crowds were more than expected. It took us longer than we planned and exhausted when we got to the station. Plan 45 min for the walk at least. Outside of that, walking with wheeled luggage to the hotel from the bus stop was good, no issues.
@@SierrasTravel Thank you ! I think we will just take a taxi since we will be doing a lot of walking for 3 days..might be too much for us. We haven’t been to Termini so we might catch the train there to Civitavecchia.
Thanks! That is a some walking to do. I don't think my wife would love it:) Btw, is it easy to find restrooms along the way if we have to do some walking? Thanks for any info.
Hi, I don’t remember seeing any restrooms until we arrived at the terminal.
Booked my first European cruise from Rome in May, might as well get an idea. Hoping Covid is done by then
Great news! Which cruise line did you book?
That’s why you’re should had taken the train to Civitovicchia Porto station and than take the bus to Largo Della Pace.
Is there a coach station in Rome?? In London, we take a coach from Victoria to Southampton Cruise terminal.. it's easy.
Yes, the SIT bus started this service. www.sitbusshuttle.com/en/#transfer-civ
How long(miles & time) was the total walk? Thx
Little over a mile and took about 30 min. If we didn’t get side tracked, could have been done in 20 min.
@@SierrasTravel same thing happened to me, summer 2019, we got off the train and had to walk to the port, but it was all worth it in the end
Why didn’t you’re take the train to Largo Della Pace station. Easy to get to the port.
We didn’t see that option. Thanks for the tip, we’ll try it next time.
Looks to me that 2340 was going to Pisa. Now I am confused.
Hi, yes. Pisa was the direction of the train. Civitavecchia was just one stop for the train heading to Pisa, not the final stop. Hope that helps.
You wouldn’t happened to have a map to help me see what area you all actually walked?
That's a great idea! We will mark them out on google maps and share.
I can't find your next video
