- In June 2022, Steve and I went on a 7-day Greek Isles cruise on Royal Caribbean's Odyssey of the Seas. This was an amazing cruise and it all started in Civitavecchia. We flew in a day early from Heathrow to stay at the port city for the night before embarkation.
This video shows you everything you need to know about Civitavecchia, like how to get there from Fiumicino airport (FCO), how to get to the port once you are in Civitavecchia, and the major attractions in Civitavecchia itself.

i live in Civitavecchia. some tips, if you have time take a walk outside the port (forte michelangelo side) on the promenade (viale della vittoria and lungomare thaon de ravel) you can find shops and a number of good restaurants. early in the morning, mon to sat, go and visit the fish market (5 min walk from the port), if you have more time check out for a visit to terme di trainano (10 min drive from the port). some suggestion for dinner: if you want pizza try pizzeria del ghetto, if you prefer fish try ristorante caprasecca. if you like ice cream go to chalet del pincio or millennium.

Thanks for the video Ken! Do you recall approx how much the bottles of wine you chose were? Will be looking for a good priced vendor to pick up a couple bottles ourselves before we board an upcoming cruise 🙌🏼
Both were about 9 euros or so. They were not a lot of choices left (maybe other cruisers have picked them up too?), and we selected the most expensive ones (yes, at 9 euros each only!), and they were both rather fine.
They actually tasted better than the ones we paid onboard when we finished our bottle!

do you know if the free shuttle is still operating as of nov 2023? i've read many reports of many changes...
Check out the Civitavecchia port website: civitavecchia.portmobility.it/en/port-civitavecchia-guide-cruise-passengers - I suspect if there are cruise ships there, then they will run? But if not, I am sure there would be paid services.
How to get to the right train how do you know which train to take
When you buy the tickets at the machine, it will show you which trains are going there - the ticket allows you to go on any of them - but if you check, then you can see which train number is the next one that goes to Civitavecchia.
Is the bus cash only or card?
I think it took both but I cannot be sure. We paid cash.
