ULTIMATE WARRIOR 1959-2014 Warrior passed away yesterday, collapsed walking to his car (probable heart attack). So sad to hear, shocking, 2 days after the HoF. WrestleMania VI is my favourite Warrior moment and childhood memory of mine. I remember hoping Warrior would win but didn't think anyone could beat Hogan. When he did, pumping his arms in the Skydome, it was a dream come true, thinking now it's really Warrior's time. It makes me sad to think 2 of the 3 big icons of the Hulkamania Era are gone (Hogan, Savage, Warrior). It's not consolation but I'm glad he finally righted how he will be remembered, burying the hatchet with Vince and took his rightful place into the Hall of Fame. RIP Warrior
I was looking at one of the old art covers for the royal rumble (the wrestlers walking down a street) and I could only count on a few fingers the ones that are still alive...

Hogans Haters look for anything and everything to bag on him but this moment was great. Warrior failed with that torch but Hogan tried.
To this day, the most epic match ever held by the WWE, despite both of Hogan and Warrior not being the most technical (and one of those matches that you didn't know how it would end)
@@bigroaststyrone8135 yet even in the great moments when he puts the other guys over, the haters while still find a way to spin into hogan "being a cunt" bullshit!
They should have made Earthquake the big "final boss" of that era in WWF the way WCW did with Vader and Sid and other big guys of the era. It would have worked well because Quake could actually wrestle and knew how to play that role.
1:48:43 I am a little confused as to why you would think that Hogan wasn't supposed to grab the belt to give to Warrior. Warrior is initially given both belts but only takes the IC belt. The world title is then brought back to the timekeeper's area or whatever. This was obviously preplanned, that Hogan would personally hand over the title to Warrior. Unless you are saying that Hogan changed the end before the start of the match. However, Hogan giving him the belt is the right way to do things in my opinion. Unlike WM4, which Hogan basically tried to steal the show from Savage.
I believe the Jesse sex tape bit was a play on fellow 80s action star Sly Stallone's "erotic" film he appeared in. But like many obscure pop culture jokes, it comes up just a little bit short 20 years later. The thing I find most amusing about the segment is how excited Monsoon seems to be to watch The Body in the act.
WWF Ventura was amazing on commentary, honestly, I think he was the best. I liked him even more than Heenan. Then he went to WCW and began phoning everything in and not trying... how WCW...
That lawsuit over VHS royalties was where he learned Hulk Hogan ratted him out to Vince, he had his lawyer ask in court. He talked about it on the Stone Cold Podcast couple months ago
"Three-Peat" was copyrighted by Pat Riley when the Lakers were going for three championships in a row. He made a ton of money off of it when the Bulls "three-peated" twice in the 90s.
hogan didn't change the ending belt bit..at 1:46:56 hebner brings in both belts & warrior only takes the IC belt because he knows hogan is supposed to hand over the wwf belt.
Yeah, Warrior totally knew the passing of the torch was going to happen. I'm not sure how the whole "Hulk went into business for himself" narrative started. Yeah, Hulk lies a lot. Metallica, starring in The Wrestler, ect. But Warrior wasn't known for telling the truth either.
I think it's better than he hands him the title he lost instead of just leaving. It's a sign of respect regardless of the spin Hogan puts on it in his book.
Try to compare the classy way that Hogan acted, here, with the immature, undisciplined way that Ric Flair acted when he dropped the NWA belt to Kerry von Erich-just weeks after the latter's brother had *died* in real life! God, I hate the South.
The Ultimate Warrior Hulk Hogan main event was magical! Wrestling at it's best. The golden years of wrestling. I will never forget how anxious I was to get to school and have my friend who had cable tell me who won. I wasn't fortunate enough to have cable, we were very poor. When I finally did get to see it by renting it on VHS, it was still awesome!!!
Wrestlemania 6 has a special place in my heart because it was the first WrestleMania I was conscious of as a child watching wrestling. And I remember my parents would not buy the pay-per-view for me oh, and I had to read about the results in the Washington Post the next morning, because the Warrior-Hogan match was that big!
The OSW guys (chaps) are absolutely right, I hate the Bush-Wackers! How did they get so over? Even back in the 80's when I was a kid I couldn't stand them
I'm all for Warrior being a homophobe, it means a guy that jacked and stuffed with testosterone is scared of little ol me haha, all Id have to do to win my match is a little Velveteen Dream action
To this day 1:40:10 still hits hard . Remember being a kid ordering this on PPV as a stereotypical Hogan fanboy and being scared to death of the Warrior ending the reign. In hindsight the pops these two got during this match are incredible.
I saw this live on closed circuit at the garde theater in New london ct. I'll never forget it, my birthday was the 20th so for an early present my rich aunt got me and 4 of my friends tickets to see this.
Shawn was getting over, you guys are correct. You have to remember at this time, we were tired of "old guys". Even when WWF brought in new talent, they were old guy new talent. In the early and mid 80s it wasn't as bad. But by 1990 these guys looked to old. Shawn was younger and was easier to get behind some fresh young talent. Bret was young as well. Vince made a mistake not getting more younger guys in as his 80s guys started looking like buff Dads.

Running the ropes is what really sells his finisher. He always looks like he is about to put his opponent through the mat with the power generated. Awesome way to make a safe finisher look deadly.

I was a kid and the biggest hulkamnia mark. I remember crying when the Warrior won. My mom got angry and left the room and my dad turned off the TV. Did it bother you back then when Warrior won?
I know you guys don't care, but the reason why Marty tumbled over the rail was because the mats and ring are elevated higher than just ground level. They have to do this for the bigger stadiums cause no one on the ground level can see the ring.
The days when WrestleMania felt real, great larger than life characters, truly the golden age of wrestling, so fortunate to have grown up in the 80s and 90s, it brings tears to my eyes to see this. #RIP ultimate warrior.
Warrior goes for the flying shoulder off of the ropes and Hogan sidesteps it while ramming Warrior into the canvas. I always liked that spot. Because Hogan could just sidestep it and it would have still worked. But for him to actually take Warrior's momentum and use it against him for his own offense better assists with telling the story in the match.
Piper also said the reason the paint took so long to get off is because a couple of the wrestlers when he was in the ring hid the paint remover on him and never gave it back to rib him.lol
Great video, a couple of quick notes: Before Warrior wakes up the ref he gives Hogan a simple back drop suplex that lays Hogan out and motionless in the center of the ring for 31 seconds! Then after the slowest 3 count in history Hogan barely kicks out gives Warrior a slight jab that is enough to hold warrior down for a good 6 count! Worst series of moves in the match, and so ridiculous. Also I believe Warrior was in on the presenting of the belt by Hogan at the end. If you watch closely you see the ref hand Warrior both belts, but he only takes the IC. Off screen the ref hands the belt back down to the table, allowing Cunt Hogan to steal the spot light. One last note, didn't Warrior and Macho Man have a tile for title house event match the year before? I know I've seen it, so why did they claim this was a first at WMVI?
Joseph Lanza, To answer your question, allegedly what happens on house shows isnt canon to the televised product unless its actually mentioned on tv. For example: Kevin Owens losing the U.S. title to A.J. Styles at a house show. The WWE made note of it on the internet going into the next Smackdown Live.
@@Sarah_Gravydog316 - Andre could move and "wrestle" (it's not real by the way) when he was younger. The problem that he had was that he kept growing until he died. He put on a lot of weight and became almost immobile by the time the WWF was a mainstream phenomenon. Andre in the 1970s sold more tickets and had more star power than Big Show could have done if he had a 100 year career. Andre was a special attraction who made even people like Hogan look small (not just his height, but his giant proportions), Big Show was a big guy in an era that had Undertaker, Kane, Nash, Sid, Ron Reis, Kurgan, etc and he was just barely taller than them and didn't have the proportions (or the charisma and aura) that Andre had. Honestly, people will still remember Andre in 50 years from now, and that includes a huge amount of non wrestling fans. Even a lot of wrestling fans will forget Big Show in 10 years.
I know, man... what i'm saying is, imagine if Andre was as agile as Big Show is/was when Andre was in the WWE. like imagine Andre chokeslamming Hogan off the stage & throwing the stairs around... or breaking the ring like Show did. it would be amazeballs! @@handsolo1209 (& i wrestled all through school, i know how real it is; I wasted a year of my life in traction)
Its worth saying that Bruce Pritchard said that the plan was always for Hogan to grab the belt and pass it to Warrior as part of passing the torch. Of course Hogan tells it a different way.
Only Vince McMahon could adequately describe 2 wrestlers as literal constellations and make it sound epic. The man has a voice that will be remembered forever.
I don't think Hogan deviated from the script at the end. You can see at 1:46:55 when Hebner goes to hand Warrior both titles, he only takes the IC belt and pushes the Championship belt away and it looks like he pretty much tells Hebner not to give him that belt; signaling that the plan was indeed for Hogan to hand it over to him at the end.
I think that lends weight to the idea Hogan changed things on the fly, honestly. The fact that Warrior was in on it but Hebner wasn't could mean Hogan at least cleared it with Warrior. And it's quite likely Hogan pitched it as "I'll give you the belt myself and put you over, brother" but spent a long time out of the ring playing out his sadness and disbelief.
I watched WWE for a very long time and yet this is still one of the most memorable moments... over so many decades Nowadays, the two babyfaces of the company facing each other off is a regular thing. WWE needs to learn from its past. Faces should not face each other and should be built up to be invincible and then eventually they can face off each other... once. Make it count

@@scottsnow137 you claim that Hogan haters look for anything and everything like there’s not thousands of cases of Hogan being a massive cunt
Hennig Bumping like a goddamn champ in the bonus match. Simply Perfect
that Warrior confession edit.... priceless! XD 1:54:54
1 year after covid and still watching these videos that helped so much during quarantine. Good way to end the day. Much love from El Paso, Texas

They don't call him "The Body" for nothing.
It's like archeology sometimes figuring out what they were talking about.
Warrior - hogan : best moment in wwe history. The fight of the Century.
Warrior - Hogan - Worst moment in WCW History - The Fight that killed Halloween
Champion v champion. At that time they were the biggest stars of the industry and the match do delivered.
My God the Atmosphere of that Crowd for Hogan/Warrior was incredible.. Wrestlers were like real life Superheroes back then.. Amazing.
I wonder if Damian had a manager's license
Frankie does "bacawww"

Did moppy?
He does....in my WWE headcanon that is. :3

How good a pairing were gorilla and ventura.Golden years or what.Loved it.
WWF Ventura was amazing on commentary, honestly, I think he was the best. I liked him even more than Heenan.
Then he went to WCW and began phoning everything in and not trying... how WCW...
Yeah they were great... I also really enjoyed Summerslam 88 with gorilla and billy graham. There were a fair few brilliant commentators about them
That lawsuit over VHS royalties was where he learned Hulk Hogan ratted him out to Vince, he had his lawyer ask in court. He talked about it on the Stone Cold Podcast couple months ago
This was the golden age of OSW Review! You can watch all the episodes all over again from start and still enjoy it!
I love 'em. I never get tired of watchin' 'em
"Three-Peat" was copyrighted by Pat Riley when the Lakers were going for three championships in a row. He made a ton of money off of it when the Bulls "three-peated" twice in the 90s.
I didn't know this! Thanks for teaching me something. Smart move by Riley.
I remember when the bad boy pistons were going for Their 3rd. We had commercials about it here
Pat Riley the legend.
Greatest sports team ever.
Wow, seriously? Note to self - copyright a popular term so you can become wealthy without doing a damn thing.
hogan didn't change the ending belt bit..at 1:46:56 hebner brings in both belts & warrior only takes the IC belt because he knows hogan is supposed to hand over the wwf belt.
indeed... we don't know if he pushed for this kind of ending backstage before the match but still, it was an agreed part of the script
Thats what i just said lol. Yet hogan wrote it in his book. The evidence is in the film. Hogan is full of shit
Great Review as usual guys. The Ultimate Confession was incredible. Wrestling IS Awesome!
Yeah bro, it was a golden age. Hogan vs Warrior is legendary even if you dont follow wrestling, which was only a childhood thing for me ;)
“Were the fans ready for the change?’ WWF fans were. Hogan fans weren’t, and never wanted Hogan to lose or drop the belt.
Even back in the 80's when I was a kid I couldn't stand them
you're just jealous they never licked you, obviously...
They're kiwi boys, how could you not like em
Just taking a guess here but they would get in a little trouble now if they were licking young children in this era? 🤔
The Ultimate Warrior interview at the end was brilliant. Omg.
@Mike Keller u mad lib?
I'm all for Warrior being a homophobe, it means a guy that jacked and stuffed with testosterone is scared of little ol me haha, all Id have to do to win my match is a little Velveteen Dream action

Has any wrestler ever looked as badass as the Warrior at WM6. So fuckin awesome.
@Buying Stuff Jenna Morasca?
Gene: "Bobby Heenan, where do you have the ball---the nerve to hit Andre the Giant in the face!!?"
Heenan: I'll tell you why I got the bbb---the nerve to hit Andre in the face!! You take orders from me!!"
I love the way Quake runs the ropes. It actually looks like it would do some actual damage.
Running the ropes is what really sells his finisher. He always looks like he is about to put his opponent through the mat with the power generated. Awesome way to make a safe finisher look deadly.
And this is why you guys have inspired me to do my own wrestling podcast with my best mate. Cheers!
What is the name of the podcast? Where can I download the latest episode?
Haku always did all the work in the Colossal Connection.
He did because Andre was barely able to perform, sadly.
But andre was the draw
@@SirStoneyOfBow then why was he a performer? If they wanted him around make him someone's enforcer or body guard. Don't put him in the ring just to do nothing.

I know you guys don't care, but the reason why Marty tumbled over the rail was because the mats and ring are elevated higher than just ground level. They have to do this for the bigger stadiums cause no one on the ground level can see the ring.

merces47letifer 😂 👌
Warrior goes for the flying shoulder off of the ropes and Hogan sidesteps it while ramming Warrior into the canvas. I always liked that spot. Because Hogan could just sidestep it and it would have still worked. But for him to actually take Warrior's momentum and use it against him for his own offense better assists with telling the story in the match.
Dibiase is one of the greatest in ring technicians ever. Legendary talent. 💰
Piper also said the reason the paint took so long to get off is because a couple of the wrestlers when he was in the ring hid the paint remover on him and never gave it back to rib him.lol
Great video, a couple of quick notes:
Before Warrior wakes up the ref he gives Hogan a simple back drop suplex that lays Hogan out and motionless in the center of the ring for 31 seconds!
Joseph Lanza,
To answer your question, allegedly what happens on house shows isnt canon to the televised product unless its actually mentioned on tv. For example: Kevin Owens losing the U.S. title to A.J. Styles at a house show. The WWE made note of it on the internet going into the next Smackdown Live.
I know WCW never acknowledged house shows. I don't know how often WWE did outside of title changes and matches that aired on TV.
I always remembered that Savage v Warrior match from one of the old VHS tapes I used to have. I was the age when you started to question it all!
@50:00 that was DEFINITELY Heenan taking the piss out of Mean Gene. Classic comedic timing from Heenan.

no kidding lol imagine if Andre could move & wrestle he'd be even more great. & i love Andre@@handsolo1209
@@handsolo1209

Its worth saying that Bruce Pritchard said that the plan was always for Hogan to grab the belt and pass it to Warrior as part of passing the torch. Of course Hogan tells it a different way.
초딩때 토요일 3시가 기다려지던기억이ㅎㅎ 벌써 30년이라는 세월이ㅜㅜ 워리어 호건 정말 세기의 대결ㅎㅎ
Only Vince McMahon could adequately describe 2 wrestlers as literal constellations and make it sound epic. The man has a voice that will be remembered forever.
Love OSW review. Keep the videos going guys.
How have I not stumbled upon this channel up until now?
"Images of strange and powerful horses"
I watched WWE for a very long time and yet this is still one of the most memorable moments... over so many decades
Nowadays, the two babyfaces of the company facing each other off is a regular thing. WWE needs to learn from its past. Faces should not face each other and should be built up to be invincible and then eventually they can face off each other... once. Make it count
That Piper promo was obviously done earlier in the day (week?) because the paint near his eyes goes from Ax to Smash in the span of 30 seconds.

58:20 from what I understand, the Road Warriors were negotiating with WWF around this time and part of their demands to join was that the Powers of Pain be split up and repackaged, hence the manager changes and eventual loss of face paint.
